3 years on the boat before a review? Solid testing. I always hate when someone reviews a knife, gun, piece of gear etc, and takes it out of the packaging on camera and says its great. TNP is the only channel that does long-term rigorous testing.
Cool bro I was just driving by a lake last week and saw some people paddling around and thought that would be a fun activity to add to the collection of adventures. The older I get the more I love the outdoors and nature and God's creation. Thanks for the very well done review Mr and Mrs Nutnfancy!
I purchased the Sea Eagle 465 which is about 2 feet longer but doesn't weigh much more than the 385. Both paddlers can fully stretch out and have room for extras. I have rented kayaks in the past and even not considering storage I would take the Sea Eagle. It's easy to store, quickly inflates, quickly deflates, is super stable and tracks very straight. It takes about 10 minutes to assemble and 10 minutes to put back in your vehicle. No roof racks or home storage issues. The biggest issue was packing everything in the supplied pack. It really doesn't work and is very heavy. I found a separate bag that holds everything but the kayak, including life vests, and made this setup perfect. Highly recommended.

Fastraks are indeed AWESOME. I've had my 465 for 5 years, I sail it in NYC... no games played! They are very capable and a marvelously well-rounded and versatile design. They really struck a sweet spot on the design. Legitimately comparable to Glock in that regard. You will not go wrong with the FT's, though I recomnend the 465 for 2 persons.
You have the drip guards in the wrong position on your kayak paddles- they should be farther up where they do not actually go into the water (when padding). If you do that then they will work much better! Thanks for the review
Fastrack series is like a Glock 19, you will not go wrong. I love my 465, one of my best decisions and my first vessel. Choose your size and buy with confidence, it's an awesome all-arounder.
We LOVE our 465FT, just placed an order for a 385FTA. Too bad everything is b/o due to COVID. Oh, and no problem standing and paddling the FT's. I'm 6'1" 230 and do it all the time in out 465
Wow, cool stuff, Nutn'. You're right, this blows a rigid kayak out of the water in terms of living with it long-term. Been thinking about dipping my toes, and this would be the way to go.
He glossed over the dry off. Doesn't have to be a major chore but I find myself reinflating at home, hosing off, then using a wet-dry vac. That's a PITA. You shouldn't just roll it up wet and store it. In practice I often leave it overnight in the garage on sawhorses. Website makes it seem like you just towel it off, well if you've been taking on gallons of saltwater and dragging tgrough sand, you're gonna want to really clean it, which I do after each use. After several years, if I had the space I'd switch to a carbon fiber rigid kayak. Even with the inlatables I might dedicate a cheap trailer for ease of setup. It's a very BULKY 44 lbs!
Nowadays Sea Eagle also offers the Bixpy motor with it's diminutive battery. It's more expensive than a trolling motor, but so much lighter, and it can be mounted either on the same location as the troller or on the bottom of the boat where the fin is.
Hi, you mentioned the Sea Eagle Explorer story and that you will release a review about it. I'm interested in purchasing one and have been doing a lot of research about it. Care to share the story you mentioned? Thanks.
Thanks for the review. Very informative. When you say that the Fast Track 385 is not really for choppy open seas, I find that surprising because I thought this would be more stable than the RAZORLITE? Is it just because the tubes have a 9 inch diameter so do not give enough side protection against waves? Is the Fast Track 385 big enough to be comfortably used by 2 people?
I'm looking into getting a Sea Eagle boat at the beginning of May. The Fasttrack seems to meet my needs a little more than the Explorer, but I've heard of some seam issues with the FT. How has your boat held up? Are these mostly older kayaks that have this problem?
I been waiting for this review love the video you did on the seaeagle drop stitch canoe. I all most purchase one because of your video but ended getting the seaeagle 380x and 300 for my girlfriend best purchase I made in along time, thank you for pointing me in the right direction
Hmm... Used an Intex Explorer 2 Inflatable Kayak from April of last year till February of this year. Its a cheap inflatable kayak (around 60 to 80 bucks) but I took it out both in freshwater, saltwater. Hell O did 2 beach take offs with it with fishing gear before it finally ripped up (my fault though not makers). Got about 14 used out of it which saved me + $300 plus it's purchase price.. Unfortunately the latest model has alot of bad reviews regarding the quality of the materials so I have been looking for a new inflatable that I can paddle around with my kid in the marina. I will look into this model. Thanks Nutn
Hi I noticed that in one shot there is some rigged foot peg like thing -can you share what you are using here as this is the thing keeping me from getting this at the moment? Also interested to know if that can be rigged for solo paddling in this -thanks!
Did you ever try the Honda outboard on this boat? I have just bought the FTA and looking at motor options but didn’t know if the Honda would be to heavy for the Mount
Thank you for the great and thorough vid. I’ve been looking at the sea eagle 385 and The aquaglide chelan xl 15 footer and I’m having a hard time choosing which one to buy. Any advice will be surely appreciated.
What did you go for? We're in the same position now. Concerns (today) are: Taking water: -Fasttrack only has 2 self bailing valves -Fasttrack has 9" tubes +Fasttrack has high rocker bow +Chelan has 6 self bailing valves +Chelan has 10" tubes -Chelan has low bow Tracking: +Fasttrack has the inflatable keel -Chelan doesn't have anything similar at front Construction: -Fasttrack has glued seams +Chelan has welded seams
There is a series of tiny lakes like this in ID. that got discovered by Adda county. To bad. What was an easy primitive experience for a GI 40 years ago is elbow to elbow now. They even leased parts of the land next to my fav trout stream that flows from those lakes. But the rest of that county still looks great to me.
If you are reviewing different model Sea Eagle inflatables as I get the impression, since you mentioned the Explorer, you should try my favorite model, the Sea Eagle Paddleski if your interested in the concept of a super portable boat you can throw in your sedan and have a "decent" motor. I also own a few SE330 kayaks, and I tried out my friends Fast Track this past fall. It performed exactly as I expected. The small Honda motor you mention is not listed as a compatible motor to use on a Fast Track, unless you know something I don't. I would guess, it is probably due to the weight. A trolling motor has a large battery that fits on the opposite side of the motor mount, providing balance. Only the Paddleski model of their "kayaks" offers the ability to rear mount a motor or handle a larger motor. I could have gone with a Honda, but I choose the Torqeedo 1003s lithium electric motor. It is roughly twice the price of the Honda, but has many advantages, though the disadvantage of range if you wanted to say go 10 miles each direction and bring a spare tank of gas or something like that. You could buy a 2nd Torqeedo battery, but they are extremely expensive. I originally had a Minn Kota trolling motor like yours on my Paddleski. For going around regular size lakes without being in a rush, it was fine. Issues came a couple times when I was out on the bay, and a massive wind came out of now where. Loaded up with two passengers, the Minn Kota didn't have the power to comfortably cut through the wind & currents out on the ocean. It's rare that I'd be in that situation, but I love having a motor that I feel safer on, and can comfortably go to more locations that would otherwise be deemed unsafe to travel to. We've able to fit the Paddleski, motor and a zillion accessories right in our sedan's trunk. The Torqeedo comes apart, and everything is super light weight and easy to carry. When you use it as often as we do, carrying a car battery every time is no fun! Not unless your a body builder or something. We also don't have to smell gasoline, listen to a loud gasoline motor, struggle pulling the lawn motor rope to start a motor every time we start it, deal with mixing oil, storing gasoline, buying gasoline. The single biggest advantage of the Torqeedo, I didn't want to smell gasoline inside my sedan transporting a small gasoline motor. That smell would never come out! I know of no safe way of transporting one. I'd want a gasoline motor transported on the outside of my car, as if I had a pickup truck or something like that. The Torqeedo goes even faster than the Honda, though due to the hull speed of the Paddleski being slower than the 1003 motor, the difference would be a non-issue. The Paddleski paddles similar to the Explorer best I can tell. Not as good as the Fast Track, and better than the SE330/370s. It has a ton of room for holding fishing gear. Like the Explorer, and SE's, paddling against a strong headwind is difficult. The Fast Track is a little better about that, but not as good as a hard shell kayak, or the Razorlite series. The other reason I prefer the Paddleski is for it's sailing ability. It's the most stable kayak model of all of Sea Eagle's kayaks. It has narrow Zodiac style pontoons. We have sort of a Sunfish or Sea Snark style lateen rail rig. It's by far the most stable kayak offered, probably anywhere. Flipping it would take serious effort. We took on a cruise ship wake this past fall that had huge ships rocking back & fourth. I kicked on the Torqeedo motor at full speed, and we litterally surfed the waves going way up high and back down 2 sets of waves. I'd say 6 foot waves, maybe higher? Enough that we felt the roller coaster drop as our 14 foot boat came down the waves, then went up the next one. Our Paddleski is on our 11th year now. It's been to over hundreds locations up & down the east coast. Even on an airplane flown to the Florida Keys once. We've spent a good amount of money on all the accessories, but we get a lot of use out of this boat. Improvements could always be made to any boat, but It's the best boat to own for us small car owners who want a "decent" motor and a full sail rig, and the ability to kayak paddle it too, though it won't win any races paddling. I encourage you to join our Sea Eagle kayak owner's group on FB. You can share experiences, photos, etc. It's a great source of info on all of their kayaks. Nate
You mentioned 900.00. I want the seats like you have and now the thick white ones they show. Did you get the pro model? It is tellibg me 1100 but I don't need a 2nd seat or 2nd paddle.
I've been in class 6. My fiance and I in a raft with paddles, wetsuits and helmets. Been on this trip 7 times. Always class 5 at least. Anything else is pretty boring. Never been tipped over. Now I'm thinking I need to try a kayak by myself in high class. Sounds awesome!!!
In rougher water, the lower CG of the black seats might be preferable, though less comfortable. I use the white inflatable seats in ocean bays and you have to lean sometimes in big waves for stability. I only capsized once and it was in legit pounding surf. It's more stable than you'll likely need.
no. I wouldn't even rate the 465FT for three adults plus ANY gear. 2 adults plus a child yes. I really think the 465 is good for two adults plus gear in comfort. 2+2 no way, you won't be chillin anyway
I've been looking into a hunting boat, but I'm afraid doggo will pop it with his claws. Plus, it doesn't hold much. I think I'll just get the Ascend canoe. Heavy, but it's solid and inexpensive.
You can buy a foot rest but only one kit will fit, not two from what I read. I got a 385 on the way and I personally would like a foot rest. Supposed to make it easier. In the video I noticed they had a cord going from one D ring to the other...interesting idea
Nutnfancy, you are taking on water with the kayak paddles because you have those rubber guards in the water, move them up to your hands and they will shed the water.
I know exactly what nutn and you are talking about. He might of had the drip rings in a bad place but it does not eliminate the issue he is talking about.
@@CPRebels21 Exactly. Nothing eliminates the drip of a double ended paddle. Not even perfect form. It's still going to happen. Perfect form and proper placement of the drip rings will lessen the amount of water you take on, but it won't eliminate it completely.
Done it, not recommended for any inflatable. Sailing upwind efficiently requires a rigid hull, I got blown all over. it's doable but very different than a fiberglass bermuda rig. constantly balancing center of effort vs center of lateral (keel) resistance. Steering via leeboards only.
Why is she paddling with a canoe paddle? Is it because of the tandem set up on the canoe? Ok 👍 it’s because of the salt water coming from the kayak paddle. 🙏 thanks.
Dude honestly, if you’re not going to tell us where you are, just don’t mention it. By saying “where not going to say where it is. There’s too many people here already.” You make yourself out to be some kind of gate keeper or that the area is yours. When in fact if it’s public land, it belongs to all US citizens. You don’t have anymore right to it than I.
He's only acting as a gate keeper to his audience. He doesn't want to mention the name because of his large following and then have people go there just because that's where nutn went kayaking. Clearly if you live anywhere near it, knowing about it is only a Google search away.
True TNP values are shown in the view count..... we obviously don't give a damn about your dog or outdoor enjoyment. So sad. It's all about firearms and killing evil. Firearms are only a part of a well rounded system, and if the "base" was good, this video would have at least twice the views. Most of TNP viewers don't enjoy the great outdoors! :(

We love them..
Great review - would you recommend the pro seats over the deluxe seats for someone with a bad back? Do the pro seats feels supportive / stable? Thanks
Nice really nice little water craft, great review. Thanks and keep it up.
I have a question. How easy is it to dry off? why did you choose this over the razor lite?
He glossed over the dry off. Doesn't have to be a major chore but I find myself reinflating at home, hosing off, then using a wet-dry vac. That's a PITA. You shouldn't just roll it up wet and store it. In practice I often leave it overnight in the garage on sawhorses. Hmm... Used an Intex Explorer 2 Inflatable Kayak from April of last year till February of this year. It looks like you added a foam foot rest to your boat. I don’t believe Sea Eagle sells one like this. What did you buy? How is it attached? Thanks.
I was curious about that as well.
Hi I noticed that in one shot there is some rigged foot peg like thing -can you share what you are using here as this is the thing keeping me from getting this at the moment? Also interested to know if that can be rigged for solo paddling in this -thanks!
You know we love you Nutn.....
I've used one of these they're pretty good
Lol this is a short review I was hoping for a feature length 👍😎❤️
Do a review on a kayak that one can use for hunting and or carry a rifle. Thanks Nutn!
this rig does that and much more

What did you go for?
We're in the same position now.
Concerns (today) are:
Taking water:
-Fasttrack only has 2 self bailing valves
-Fasttrack has 9" tubes
+Fasttrack has high rocker bow
+Chelan has 6 self bailing valves
+Chelan has 10" tubes
-Chelan has low bow
Tracking:
+Fasttrack has the inflatable keel
-Chelan doesn't have anything similar at front
Construction:
-Fasttrack has glued seams
+Chelan has welded seams
I love these videos nutn sir

Alameda/Oakland estruary! I'd bet we've passed each other unknowingly on those waters.
beautiful
No wrist check? What were you running for a watch NUTN?
Lots of places like that in Utah! Beautiful place
I had no idea!
Have you tried the two different seats the white one that sits higher and the black one with the high back and which one do you prefer?
In rougher water, the lower CG of the black seats might be preferable, though less comfortable. I use the white inflatable seats in ocean bays and you have to lean sometimes in big waves for stability. I only capsized once and it was in legit pounding surf. It's more stable than you'll likely need.
I wonder if with the three-person FastTrack I could put two adults and two children in it?
no. I wouldn't even rate the 465FT for three adults plus ANY gear. 2 adults plus a child yes. I really think the 465 is good for two adults plus gear in comfort. 2+2 no way, you won't be chillin anyway
Funny I just got my first kayak and took to fuller lake in California today
Looks fun😎
Love mine!
greets from austria!
no review on the explorer?
I've been looking into a hunting boat, but I'm afraid doggo will pop it with his claws. Plus, it doesn't hold much. I think I'll just get the Ascend canoe. Heavy, but it's solid and inexpensive.
No Sea Eagle is going to puncture on anything less than a sharp blade
Where did u get that foot brace that you are using?
when you use the motor, what kind of battery? how do you keep it dry?
sealed deep cycle, I prefer a gel
Is that the mountain where joe will return?
Researching what the difference is between these and the sub $400 Sea Eagle offerings.
this lake is in Austria?
Does anybody know if Patreon is down? Mysteriously can't make a payment this month.
Question: no foot rests? Is that uncomfortable?
You can buy a foot rest but only one kit will fit, not two from what I read. I got a 385 on the way and I personally would like a foot rest. Supposed to make it easier. In the video I noticed they had a cord going from one D ring to the other...interesting idea
Sweet
Nutnfancy, you are taking on water with the kayak paddles because you have those rubber guards in the water, move them up to your hands and they will shed the water.
It still doesn't shed all the water in an open kayak especially in a multiperson kayak.
@@CPRebels21 We are not talking about the same thing.
Since the Covid Shutdown, finding a Kayak is impossible!
You said "Austria" and I was "Totally Pumped !" - Arnold.
I think you should look for Bigfoot. Lol
Any chance Mrs. Nutnfancy can do a video about RA and how to cope with it.
👍👍
Sail attachments too?
Done it, not recommended for any inflatable. Sailing upwind efficiently requires a rigid hull, I got blown all over. it's doable but very different than a fiberglass bermuda rig. constantly balancing center of effort vs center of lateral (keel) resistance. Steering via leeboards only.
You still Listen to Caravan Palace? @nutnfancy
C'mon Nutn' get yerself in a real canoe. Cpme on up to Ontario and we'll show you.
shallow draft for flooded florida streets?!!
and. escape evade
900? fuck that I'll stick with a regular kayak.
Can you find enough Helium, or Hydrogen? How much would it weigh?
I'm guessing >1Kg, reduction. 33+lb inflated with Helium.
Silver Lake Flat Reservoir in American Fork canyon, Utah.
Why is she paddling with a canoe paddle? Is it because of the tandem set up on the canoe? Ok 👍 it’s because of the salt water coming from the kayak paddle. 🙏 thanks.
Been a subsriber for maybe 10 years now, but still amazed somone who loves the enviorment would be Trump supporter.
Danny M ...do you know how big Utah is?
He's only acting as a gate keeper to his audience. He doesn't want to mention the name because of his large following and then have people go there just because that's where nutn went kayaking. Clearly if you live anywhere near it, knowing about it is only a Google search away.
True TNP values are shown in the view count..... we obviously don't give a damn about your dog or outdoor enjoyment. So sad. It's all about firearms and killing evil. Firearms are only a part of a well rounded system, and if the "base" was good, this video would have at least twice the views. Most of TNP viewers don't enjoy the great outdoors! :(
🍗
Thanks for the review. I know your married but if you want grandkids then please get that goofy hat off TD’s head!! Lol
Just some free advice
Thanks
No thanks.... I’m not into pool floaties
We know you're into rubber duckies lol
You sell it at a Lost.....Yea Oook
This review could have taken you 5 minutes no need for all this other nonsense
I disagree. You want to see footage of it imo
I bet Nutn wears gloves to the toilet. Lol
