    This is a sweet setup!! I've owned 3 sea eagles.. 2 kayaks and a boat, and I must say the earlier stuff used to fall apart (coming unglued over time). Granted, all three were bought used so the jury's out on whether or not the previous owner were to blame, but I sure hope they've (sea eagle) improved their manufacturing in the last few years. Their kayaks are really a great bang for your buck (in terms of the many features and bells and whistles you get, compared to other brands). They're also some of the most aesthetically pleasing out there, and performance is top notch. I've owned everything from the cheapy pool-toy store brands to the various tiers of intex and sevylor, and by far the best inflatables are ones made either entirely from the dropstich technology or at least 1000denier material, and dropstich floor (like Tony's sea eagle). I currently own 2 single 8' kayaks, surprisingly made by sevylor (sk100ds), discontinued long ago, a tandem rover 220 made by driftsun, which I picked up brand new for under 7 bills, and an 11' Azzuro Mare (zodiac-type boat) made by Saturn. All three are 1100denier material w/ dropstich floors and all around great boats. I agree with Tony, it's hard to spend a lot on an inflatable kayak or boat, but when you're dealing with quality, and performance, it's good to pay the price for good workmanship and reliability. Sorry for the lengthy comment lol!! Tight lines y'all 🤙

    I believe I saw in another video that someone says it's fine to leave those drains in the stern open if you expect to get waves coming over the bow. It's supposed to be a sort of self bailing boat. Thank you for the excellent video.

    Thanks, I was looking at this boat but not sure about “inflatables” . Where I live it’s mostly really small lakes or reservoirs and 4-wheeling to get to them. A light ,compact kayak like this would be great. You answered all my questions about it.

    I've been enjoying your videos.
    There is another model Sea Eagle that is actually the " Swiss army knife" of kayaks, but better known as the "Jack of all trades" kayak. And that is none other than the Sea Eagle Paddleski.
    The Sea Eagle Paddleski (435ps) weights 42 lbs, packs up small, can handle an outboard motor (up to 3HP), sails with a full sail rig available, fishing seats, rowing kit available. It's the most stable kayak ever made featuring pontoons, yet it paddles with a kayak paddle better than some other Sea Eagle kayak models that typically only paddle. I've gone in my friend's Fast Track and only found the Fast Track a little faster.....but yet, you give up a lot of great options. It was an average day with light wind. Perhaps under different conditions it may have performed better than the Paddleski? I started off with a trolling motor, and found it inadequately get me through a strong wind or current which can come up unexpectedly on the ocean. The Paddleski has more room for storing items if your going camping or something. I've had 2 adults and two teens on mine several times, yet it comes out of the trunk of my sedan. I choose the Torqeedo 1003s gasoline power/speed equivalent lithium motor, but it was expensive. I have the full sail rig too, but not the rowing kit or fishing seats. On windy days, I just sail or motor. Some inflatable kayaks suffer from weather cocking in the wind I hear.
    I've had my Paddleski about 10 years. I estimate I've used it over 400 times, and it has been to over 100 locations. Amazingly I have not needed to patch it yet. Sea Eagle was doing a story on our adventures, but in the middle of working with their writer, the 435ps was discontinued last spring due to new government regulations in materials used. Since no manufacturer makes a "kayak" remotely close to this which can "paddle" using a kayak paddle and get reasonable performance, yet handle an outboard motor and sail rig, I was getting nervous what might happen if I wear it out. So I bought a 2nd one as a backup, and for no other reason really. But I'm happy to confirm a new model Paddleski prototype does exist, and Sea Eagle is working on a replacement, as they've had to replace others in the past for the reason. Usually new models feature upgrades too. Be sure to check it out, and my TH-cam videos. I should have a lot more GoPro footage of the 2021 season.

    The larger version FT465 is the true champion. Even for 1 person it is ideal, though it can seat 3 and 795lbs. The shorter fastracks can only really take 1, especially if fishing.

    Greeting from Seven Coves across the Lake,
    Great review.
    I have a Sea Eagle STS 10, great boat for two standup fishing. Love to take it camping when I can leave it setup for a few days. Definitely going to order a 385FTA for those quick evening trips down at the marina and around the cove😎

    Great channel. I hope you're still checking comments. I just received my boat and the Bixpy skeg motor. Because of neck.. spine surgery, i won't be able to use it until next spring. I'm having anxiety attacks about getting the boat in and out of the water with motor beneath. Won't have a dock very often. Any thoughts?

    • @VentureTube
      @VentureTube  ปีที่แล้ว

      So I’m assuming the skeg doesn’t retract. What about a wheel cart that’s high enough for motor/skeg clearance?

    I think I have now looked at all the TH-cam reviews of the 385, and yours is the most informative, BY FAR. I'm looking seriously at this boat, so thanks for that. Did you by any chance consider the Aquaglide Blackfoot Angler 130, or have you seen it since you bought your 385? These two boats are VERY similar, and I'm really curious about how they compare in actual use. Keep up the great work.

    can two people use this? it says 3 person capacity but all the pics and videos just show one person using it....would this be recommended over say the 420X kayak if I'm using this on a lake for fishing where I'm trying to get closer to the trees and brush? Just concerned about durability when it comes to trees and such under the water I may not be able to see

    • @VentureTube
      @VentureTube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two people can Absolutely use this kayak. It’s great for two people fishing but three would be too crowded IMO. It’s my preferred kayak for fishing two people. I’ve ran this thing into trees over stumps and into fences on the water and have had zero issues. It is extremely durable and well-made.

    Thanks for these great videos about the sea eagle 385 angler. I have one on the way. I bought the swivel seat and think I will be riding with my daughter who is 10. Could this thing handle two swivel seats? Or, should I really get something else for the second passenger? She’s only 75 lbs now I am around 160. I’m also wondering about oar clips and if you can give me any help there much appreciated!!

    I am torn between the 350 and the 385. The 350 is good for class 4 but smaller. 385 is for class 2 and bigger. I have a class 3 river near me. Any thoughts and i am curious about how long does it take to dry? I live in a apt so i have to deflate it each time. Thanks for the information.

    • @VentureTube
      @VentureTube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyeriver1 if you’re going to have to deflate each time I’d go with the smaller boat and electric pump. Plus as you said, it’s good for class 4 water. I’d feel more comfortable knowing I had the right tool for the job. Drying with a shower towel works just fine!
