A heroin addict in that definition still wouldn’t be free. There is nothing free about having to take a drug to prevent yourself from feeling depressed, being super sick and having no energy.
Addiction is essentially the exact opposite of freedom. It's control over your life to whatever the focus of that addiction is, whether it be heroin, alcohol, food, spicy adult materiel, etc.
Still, people should have the freedom to be addicted because who are you and who is government to say you can’t put something in your body.

If doing whatever you wanted was true freedom then the only free person (if any) would be the last man standing. Freedom to drive your vehicle without paying for stickers. Freedom not to have a number assigned to you at birth. Freedom to own any weapon you want and defend your home/family without needing lawyers or an organization you have to pay for to help you in court after being charged with murder for saving yourself and or family.
Freedom to work jobs that are current only held by unions. Freedom to camp in local and national parks, fish and visit any time unless privately owned.
Freedom to let your lawn grow as tall as you want without being fined.
Freedom to have a fair trial and actual evidence,witnesses and an investigation before being charged and having your life destroyed.
Freedom to say whatever you want without it being called a "hate crime" crime based upon feelings is sick!

You know technically anyone can do whatever they want. Anyone for example can jump on the roof of their house or run on it but the possible consequences would be falling through it, end up with a broken body part or possibly get electrocuted if wires are in the way and possibly death.
