Took my road test today and passed! :). This video really helped a lot. They don’t ask you to do a three point turn anymore. It’s a pretty simple test. They also ask you to park at the end of the road test. Don’t be nervous! you’ll be fine :)
update for anyone wondering i took my test today you make a left at the light after leaving dmv then the first light u go left again and go down a little and turn right into a parking lot you park they see how you did and then you drive right back to the dmv it was super easy
Just had my test yesterday at the Avondale DMV, was very nervous, but the test was super easy. It was slightly different from the one in the video. You do the route backwards, with fairway being the first turn. There was no three-point, just standard parking. Good luck to all and thank you Mr. Carnahan! God Bless
@@lj2478 So basically, the instructor had me leave the DMV by taking a left on Eliseo C Felix Junior Way to the intersection between Van Buren. Then take a left on Van Buren and travel over the bridge until you get to N 127th ave. There, you will take a left into the commercial area and drive through until Corporate Dr. You will take a right onto Corporate drive and travel until you get to Fairview/El Mirage, once there, you take a right onto Van Buren and head back to the DMV. Hope that helps!
This video helped me out so muchh!! As of today, January 17th 2019, I got my license on the first try!! It was the same exact route as this video. And I practiced the 3 point turn many times and took the route 3 times before doing my actual test. Thank you so much for this video!!

Took my test Friday and passed, this vid was clutch, no 3 point turn as well. Route is very similar, for me instead of turning at the first light after the bridge, you turn at the next light, and turn into the school area, than the business area, than you go back to the DMV, than you park at the end of the test and thats it!

I got my license today at this location - can confirm that I did NOT have to do the 3-point turn, just had to drive and then park. When you turn down towards the commercial area instead of turning towards the school - the instructor had me go down all the way and do a u-turn, and then back to the MVD.
I just passed my test and this video helped so much… I didn’t have to 3 point u turn and on my route I also didn’t have to u turn and simply took a right turn at the school and went back thank you so much.
This video helped me a lot i passed my road test the 1st try. You don’t have to do the 3 point turn i went the same route as well instead of pulling in corporate road she had me do a U-Turn and i went back to the DMV. As long as you going the limit and paying attention you’ll pass.
Our son just took, and passed, the test today. There was no 3pt turn, but the route was slightly different than what was shown here and at one point, they turned into a parking lot and just had to properly park the vehicle in a parking spot. Update: I passed! Very simple route we went on, it was NOT the one in video. We went almost the opposite of that route when it came to the industrial area. Instead of the left turn on van buren we went to the 2nd light and then back to the ADOT. NO 3 point turn, simple driving test, i passed with zero points off. The video helped alot Thank you!

I went to the 3rd party dmv and I actually passed my test. The route was different then the video they take you to a residential area but it was easy my advice is practice, practice, practice and don’t be too nervous. The only point I got taken off was because of my turning. But I passed, all of his videos helped me so much.

I almost failed because I parked in the handicap when they told me to park anywhere… my mom is handicapped and I usually practice with her 🤣 No three point turn, the route is very similar to this. They make you park at a little area with parking spaces that are somewhat visible. After that, they let you drive back to the dmv and they will let you know if you passed or not after.

I took my test today and I basically went the same route but backwards, I took a left on the second light, and went on the same streets shown in the video. They also asked me to park at the end. Very easy test that was only three minutes. And that’s coming from someone who was really nervous! Just btw to anyone going soon you are required to have a face mask for the road test portion of the test.
I took the test today, they route is slightly different, they asked me to take second right turn from the bridge then left turn 3 times to back to the main street that is it. They also asked me to do 3 points turn, i think it is coming back. Well I got my DL, thanks for this video

Mud Kips the surprise DMV has a TIGHT, small 3pt turn space like Mesa does. It's pretty tough to get it in that course, just experiment with different angles and you'll get it.
@@biancacruz7343 No, no 3 point turn in the Avondale test, just make sure you know the hand signs for turning left, right, and stopping, everything else is easy, it's just basic driving
Just passed first try! No 3 point turn and the route is similar. Instead of turning on corporate you turn a street after it and then right and it's like the video.
@@alanaaviles7139 Hey, I took the test at the 3rd party DD&G Location instead of the official DMV so I'm not sure if this would be use to you, but they had me only do the three point turn. The box was tight and I had to do a few maneuvers to get it right, but I still got it. After that they just had me drive around the spot, best of luck on your test.
I took my test today , and we took a different route because of the traffic, the administrator said because it was 2:30 it was going to be too crowded for their usual route
Skyler Cummings weird. the usual route goes through a lot of empty streets in the middle of nowhere. maybe there was some major construction or something. hope you passed your test!
I probably won't be back there any time soon. Surprise and Mesa are both very small. The secret is: DON'T take a huge car or truck, bring smallest car you can use. 1. Make a wide left turn into the center of the 1st box. If you are too close to the side, you will hit cones when reversing. Once in center of the box, pull up close the cone in front of you, then stop, turn wheels all the way to the right and reverse slowly. Once you have turned 90 degrees, straighten wheels and continue reversing until the whole car is inside last box. Stop when car is completely inside the box. It will take a couple tries but its pretty easy. Practice your parking and reversing until you are confident and understand the reverse steering. You can't use backup camera on the test so learn to use your mirrors and look behind you. Just remember it's very important to get in center of 1st box. Not too close to sides

I failed my test on Friday. ☹️ Also, for anyone wondering, they made me take an entirely different route-I'm guessing because there was construction. However, the new route definitely caught me off guard. It was: Right leaving the DMV. Right on Van Buren. Left on North Central Ave (school zone). Left on Canada Blvd (had me park by the curb). Left on N Fourth St. Right on Van Buren. Left on Felix Jr Way (back to the DMV). I failed solely because I was going too fast in the school zone. I know, very dumb of me. But there's a sign indicating a speed limit of 35 mph right when you turn onto N Central Ave, and another sign, literally after 10 seconds of driving, tucked into the very side of the road, that said to lower the speed to 25 mph, which I didn't see. 😔 Anyway, if they take you that route, make sure to drive slowly on the road. I hope this comment helps! Please pray I pass.

I passed my drivers test everyone! Took mine at the south mountain dmv. To anyone taking it here we first do the 3 point turn and if you pass you then move onto the driving part. We stopped at a few stop signs, made a right turn and a left turn, so practice both turns and switching lanes. Good luck to anyone near and far, you got this! I was more nervous then I should of been. Remember to just breathe and believe in yourself ANND practice a lot, I believe in you all☺️
I ended up actually going to the 3rd party across the street. The road test is way more pricey ($70), but the wait is shorter and the people are really nice. INFO: This route is the exact same for both DMV’s. I was surprised at first, but this video ended up helping me a lot. Any questions about the road test or 3rd Party? Let me know! @@djmicahpaul price is also different. The state sets the minimum prices for the services and the private DMV adds on usually about $20 convenience fee . Either spend hours at public DMV or pay $20 extra to be done in 20 minutes
Karla Marlene Montijo No, you don’t have to. I just walked in and they had me settle all the paperwork and stuff within like 20 minutes. You can make appointments, but no you don’t have to

@@daejamcghee no they changed the route. They just take you down the street and back, also they don't make you do the 3 point turn or parallel all they do is make you park in a regular parking spot

I failed this test at East Olympic Drive MVD, had a terrible instructor. I must say I did not hit nor touch any cones at my attempt. I made a single mistake because I didn’t understand completely the instruction. (English is my second language and English is the only language you can get for the practical/drive test) I failed the test because as I while I was doing the reverse maneuver my car crossed an “invisible” line that extends the white lines you see in the video. As soon as I did that she told me to stop and put my car in parking, afterwards telling me I just “unpassed the test and that I needed to reschedule”. My thought process was “as long as I don’t hit any cones or correct my direction more than twice I’ll pass”. Wrong. I have an appointment at a different facility tomorrow. Time to apply the lesson I learned. Hope some one gets something useful out of this comment.
I would've said I wished you had a video for the Chandler location, but it was so simple you'd be a fool to fail on anything besides the 3 point turn. It was kinda nerve racking because I watched the girl before me fail her 3 point turn test

You only change your speed in a school zone if they have a sign posted with a speed written on it. The normal speed of the road is good unless they have a sign that says 15mph out in that area. Just follow the signs. If there is no sign on a public road in AZ it is 25mph by default. It is zero tolerance in school zones so even 1mph over is an automatic fail. Good luck! 👍

The test went great, It was the same exact route but while driving through the business area the instructor made me do standard parking. There was no parallel parking or the 3 point turn. The test was less than 10 mins.

At 6:40 when making that left turn I noticed you didn’t stop completely. It was clear there were no cars coming towards you or cars coming out turning right or left on the road you were about to turn on. I was wondering when making that left turn do you have to completely stop and then make the left turn? Let’s say the light was green and no one was coming towards me but there are cars in the turn lane ahead of me, and there are cars to the left me about to make a left or right turn. Should I still stop completely and then go? Or just go since I have a green light and it’s safe to go? I hope this makes sense lol
No need to stop doing a left on green. (unless yielding to oncoming traffic.) You only have to stop on a left turn, if you are doing one at a stop sign. You do have to stop at a right turn on red.
So I have my test tomorrow but the right turn you made on red. Is it better to play it safe and wait for the light to turn green or actually turn right on red during test?
Most AZ road tests have no lane changes. The 3 point turn is the only reversing you must do. You do not need to indicate on a closed course at the DMV 3 point turn. On a public street if you do a 3 point turn, you should though. Hope that helps! Best of luck

A lot of locations have stopped doing it (which is crazy to me) but if true, good news, they're practically giving licenses away, just don't speed and make complete stops! 😎

It's the absolute edge of your road, where it becomes the next road. You draw a line from one curb across the street to the other curb. Only in AZ and Alaska, this is the definition of the intersection. Other states, it's the crosswalk lines that define the intersection.

I’m 21 and I never got a permit, I’m hoping to test for my drivers license soon at Avondale (kinda late for my age I know lol), but since I don’t have my permit, do I have to take some sort of written or verbal test about what the different lines mean, things that are in the manual you get for your permit etc. Or is it all just kind of shown while your driving? If over 21 you can just take road test for license. However I would strongly recommend making sure you're 100% on the road rules so you don't get pulled over by cops or get in crashes. Good luck on the test!👍

It depends on the DMV. Half of them are to the right, half are to the left. Not all the same size either. Avondale, Mesa, Surprise are pretty small. Scottsdale, Glendale are really big 3 point turns.

I took the test today, they route is slightly different, they asked me to take second right turn from the bridge then left turn 3 times to back to the main street that is it. They also asked me to do 3 points turn, i think it is coming back. Well I got my DL, thanks for this video

Mud Kips the surprise DMV has a TIGHT, small 3pt turn space like Mesa does.
It's pretty tough to get it in that course, just experiment with different angles and you'll get it.

@@alanaaviles7139 Hey, I took the test at the 3rd party DD&G Location instead of the official DMV so I'm not sure if this would be use to you, but they had me only do the three point turn. The box was tight and I had to do a few maneuvers to get it right, but I still got it. After that they just had me drive around the spot, best of luck on your test.

can you show the 3 point turn at the surprise arizona location, i heard its really tight but i want to see how to correctly do it.
I probably won't be back there any time soon. Surprise and Mesa are both very small.
The secret is:
DON'T take a huge car or truck, bring smallest car you can use.
1. Make a wide left turn into the center of the 1st box. If you are too close to the side, you will hit cones when reversing.
Once in center of the box, pull up close the cone in front of you, then stop, turn wheels all the way to the right and reverse slowly.
Once you have turned 90 degrees, straighten wheels and continue reversing until the whole car is inside last box. Stop when car is completely inside the box.
It will take a couple tries but its pretty easy. Practice your parking and reversing until you are confident and understand the reverse steering.
You can't use backup camera on the test so learn to use your mirrors and look behind you.
Just remember it's very important to get in center of 1st box. Not too close to sides

That's what my friend had to do, but for mine that I took about a month ago, they made me go down a whole another different route entirely.

Also, for anyone wondering, they made me take an entirely different route-I'm guessing because there was construction. However, the new route definitely caught me off guard.
It was:
Right leaving the DMV.
Right on Van Buren.
Left on North Central Ave (school zone).
Left on Canada Blvd (had me park by the curb).
Left on N Fourth St.
Right on Van Buren.
Left on Felix Jr Way (back to the DMV).
I failed solely because I was going too fast in the school zone. I know, very dumb of me. But there's a sign indicating a speed limit of 35 mph right when you turn onto N Central Ave, and another sign, literally after 10 seconds of driving, tucked into the very side of the road, that said to lower the speed to 25 mph, which I didn't see. 😔
Anyway, if they take you that route, make sure to drive slowly on the road.

I passed my drivers test everyone! Took mine at the south mountain dmv. To anyone taking it here we first do the 3 point turn and if you pass you then move onto the driving part. We stopped at a few stop signs, made a right turn and a left turn, so practice both turns and switching lanes. Good luck to anyone near and far, you got this! I was more nervous then I should of been. Remember to just breathe and believe in yourself ANND practice a lot, I believe in you all☺️

I ended up actually going to the 3rd party across the street. The road test is way more pricey ($70), but the wait is shorter and the people are really nice. I failed this test at East Olympic Drive MVD, had a terrible instructor. I must say I did not hit nor touch any cones at my attempt. I made a single mistake because I didn’t understand completely the instruction. (English is my second language and English is the only language you can get for the practical/drive test) I failed the test because as I while I was doing the reverse maneuver my car crossed an “invisible” line that extends the white lines you see in the video. As soon as I did that she told me to stop and put my car in parking, afterwards telling me I just “unpassed the test and that I needed to reschedule”. My thought process was “as long as I don’t hit any cones or correct my direction more than twice I’ll pass”. Wrong. I have an appointment at a different facility tomorrow. Time to apply the lesson I learned. Hope some one gets something useful out of this comment.
I would've said I wished you had a video for the Chandler location, but it was so simple you'd be a fool to fail on anything besides the 3 point turn. It was kinda nerve racking because I watched the girl before me fail her 3 point turn test

Just make sure you get lots of practice parking and city driving. Dont speed, and make real stops at stop signs and you will be 👍

I have a question, I take my test tomorrow and If I do go into school zone, do I continue to go 15mph regardless that children are on break?
You only change your speed in a school zone if they have a sign posted with a speed written on it.
The normal speed of the road is good unless they have a sign that says 15mph out in that area.
Just follow the signs. If there is no sign on a public road in AZ it is 25mph by default.
It is zero tolerance in school zones so even 1mph over is an automatic fail.

The test went great, It was the same exact route but while driving through the business area the instructor made me do standard parking. There was no parallel parking or the 3 point turn. The test was less than 10 mins.

Hello, can I use my car to take the test if one of my doors doesn't work? The driver and the passenger doors work it's just one in the back that doesn't.
That's no problem 👍 they check headlights, tail lights, signals, horn, speedometer and license plate. That's all.

At 6:40 when making that left turn I noticed you didn’t stop completely. It was clear there were no cars coming towards you or cars coming out turning right or left on the road you were about to turn on. I was wondering when making that left turn do you have to completely stop and then make the left turn? Let’s say the light was green and no one was coming towards me but there are cars in the turn lane ahead of me, and there are cars to the left me about to make a left or right turn. Should I still stop completely and then go? Or just go since I have a green light and it’s safe to go? I hope this makes sense lol
No need to stop doing a left on green. (unless yielding to oncoming traffic.)
You only have to stop on a left turn, if you are doing one at a stop sign. You do have to stop at a right turn on red.

That's entirely up to you. Both are 100% legal in all 50 states. Whatever you feel most comfortable at the moment.

Most AZ road tests have no lane changes. The 3 point turn is the only reversing you must do.
You do not need to indicate on a closed course at the DMV 3 point turn. On a public street if you do a 3 point turn, you should though.

Theres an image in the link, marked with a red line. It's the absolute edge of your road, where it becomes the next road. You draw a line from one curb across the street to the other curb.
Only in AZ and Alaska, this is the definition of the intersection. Other states, it's the crosswalk lines that define the intersection.
Hello! I’m 21 and I never got a permit, I’m hoping to test for my drivers license soon at Avondale (kinda late for my age I know lol), but since I don’t have my permit, do I have to take some sort of written or verbal test about what the different lines mean, things that are in the manual you get for your permit etc. Or is it all just kind of shown while your driving?

If over 21 you can just take road test for license. However I would strongly recommend making sure you're 100% on the road rules so you don't get pulled over by cops or get in crashes.

It depends on the DMV. Half of them are to the right, half are to the left. Not all the same size either.
Avondale, Mesa, Surprise are pretty small.
Scottsdale, Glendale are really big 3 point turns.
