Welcome to Peterson Family Farm. On this TH-cam channel, we plan to show viewers what happens on a real life family farm in Kansas. From working with animals, to planting seeds, to harvesting grain, to putting up hay, to fixing equipment, you'll get to see what farming is like! Our farm is a 5th generation farm started in 1882 by our great great grandparents. We grow wheat, corn, soybeans, milo, sunflowers, and forages and we feed about 1,000 head of cattle. We had a tv140. Traded it for a wheel loader and that was one of the best decisions we ever made. It is a versatile tractor but it just cannot compete with the wheel loader when it comes to loader work.
I had a nearly new Versatile 160 which I sold years ago & I was kicking myself every time after I sold it when I had to feed in the mud or go check on calves on stalks bc it just floated over top the mud. I then found a used 9030, BiDi’s are an awesome machine when you have cattle in mud & snow bc the rear wheels follow the tracks made by the front wheels. Awesome tractor for unloading wagons on bagger bc you are sitting facing the wagon. Also built fence row sprayer & garden cultivators for front of loader

Ran one in 04-05 for a farmer. Pretty handy tractor, my biggest gripe was having to drive it down the road. 19mph and just listen to that hydro scream. It was almost as good in the hat pen as the 4020.
That is a cool tractor, never seen anything like it. I have an old New Holland (actually a Ford 3600) that I use almost weekly on my place. It isn't pretty and it's all manual (including the steering) but she's a workhorse for me. Great videos as always!

You guys will love a disc mower there amazing. I will suggest get a drawbar swivel hitch model!
I helped a guy fill bags with one ,it was easy to creep along with the hydro.
The original design of the bi-directional tractor was from Versatile. NH got it but, due to sales of it, they ended production of it. Shame really, one of the better designs for a tractor to be honest. The UK and Europe has been utilizing both ends of a tractor far longer than we here in the US have been. You're right, needs to do change, sad it's leaving but, it's still a very good design of a tractor.
Don't knock that high tech mixing operation, it works. When I raised beef cattle, talked to mine all the time, kept them calm and relaxed. When it came time to load or move them, made it so much easier to work them. Great video, cheers :)
Awww. I worked for a guy that had a similar bi-directional. Certainly an interesting machine!

You guys are great! Sad to to the bi-directional go. I saw it the first time in one of your parodies and thought it was so cool.
Your going to like the discbine better then the haybines you can mow as fast as the ground and hp permit and they are less picky about hitting mowed rows

Nice video guys, i only have 1 question. Why dont you use the john deere 7030 with the ivt transmission with the loader. Those buckets kn the loaders are bigger right?
That is the tractor we will use, yes. Before it served as the "backup." The Bi-Directional actually had about the same size of bucket.

We used ours to cut hay too but then we upgraded to self propelled discbine. Not sad bout tht but still cant go with our bidi!

So, what are you going to use to load the feed mixer at that farm?
One of our other loader tractors. We have 4 other loader tractors, so to simplify the farm we got rid of this one.

you will not regret buying a disc mower ..........
How much did you ask for this bi directional ?
Not a great draft machine because of hydrostatic transmission but there is no better machine for loader work on a cattle ranch.
Why did you sell it

@@casefarmgirl2279 not really the moffet was built on a ford /new Holland tractor that one is more modern but exact same principle , what's totally different in your opion?
@@tomoshea7230 Wrong again, the Moffet was originally built on MF 600 series skid units. What sdifferent? Chassis...hydraulics..but id say the biggest is the Moffet doesnt oscillate .
@@casefarmgirl2279 the moffet was built in co Louth Ireland by Moffet engineering long before they built the world famous Moffet Mounty truck trailer forklift ,that business was sold the same people set up combilift a huge business today , the moffet was built on a 40 series ford /new Holland still s few if them going strong close to me here in co laois ,they were all yellow/orange in colour
@@casefarmgirl2279 Google "Moffet tractor " it's a yellow ford 7740 with the exact same set up as that new Holland loader on the back , tractor goes either direction set spins around ,no different definitely not a Massey or a skid steer

The bi directional is an interesting machine but there are more efficient ways to do things. I am sure whoever gets it will like it. The biggest problem I saw with them is guys tried to do too much with them.
