Burt Lancaster told my father a story about a guy who wanted an autograph from him once. He was eating dinner in a restaurant in LA and some guy comes up to him while hes putting his fork to his mouth and grabbed his hand to stop him from putting the food in his mouth to ask for his autograph. Burt told him to basically F off and the guy left him and went back to his table. When Burt had finished his meal and he was leaving he went over to the guy and told him, "Look I appreciate that you are a fan, but you were very rude". He gave him an autograph and left. He was a classy guy.

Burt was an incredible actor, a true legend. From 1947's, The Killers thru Field of Dreams in 1987, he gave us varied, memorable performances. Kevin was lucky to work with 2 GREATS : SEAN CONNERY in THE UNTOUCHABLES AND BURT LANCASTER in FIELD OF DREAMS. 😉😃😁😎 BUT I REALLY ENJOYED HIM in DANCES WITH WOLFS, the Indian actors were VERY GOOD. I ESPECIALLY LOVED the ending when the one Indian actor YELLS OUT "YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY FRIEND ". That was HEARTBREAKING FOR ME.😉😃😁😎
I'd like to hear what he has to say about working with James Earl Jones....That "people will come, Ray " scene was in my opinion the most powerful scene in the film.,
Aside of being a fantastic actor, Kevin Costner seems so genuine and sincere. JFK, Dances with Wolves, Untouchables, just to name a few, are some of my favourite movies. I highly recommend Fandango to all the young fans. Once of my favourites as well
@@jessu.6414 I read somewhere that he did virtually the whole movie with an English accent but it didn't test well so they re-shot his scenes. No idea if it's true or not but it was very strange that that he did his normal accent.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves: I also read that rumour has it that Kevin Costner wanted to use an English accent, but Director Kevin Reynolds didn’t want him to. Supposedly Costner would affect the accent when he was arguing with Reynolds, but not when they were in agreement. Costner claimed that he was initially asked to use an accent, but this was stopped when he did it poorly.

people forget now just how massive a star costner was at one time. very late 80s to 94 ish he was in massive films that all grossed 200 mills plus. untouchables, feild of dreams, dances with wolfs, robin hood, JFK, the body gard were his peak years. great run of films to have been in.
Right! Dances with Wolves...my fave of all time
i'd say up to 96. Tin Cup
YES but think as Fans He actually got to work with people he grew up watching and become friends or gain the respect and pass the torch to him. At the end of his life he can say he worked with this actor or this actor.
@Phil Jones65 He was in Mr Brooks in 2007-ish.... Awesome movie about him being a serial killer.... Oh and Open Range.... An awesome western.
I don't forget..
I think films were generally better before the last decade and it hurts noone to learn about things created before they were born.
IN THE SUMMER OF 57,I WAS WORKING IN A GROCERY STORE IN NORTH LAKE TAHOE AND THE MANAGER TOLD ME TO MOVE A CAR THAY WAS ILLEGALLY PARKED IN FRONT OF THE STORE.I WANT OUTSIDE AND THERE WAS A CHRYSLER IMPERIAL PARKED BADLY AND BLOCKING THE REST OF THE LOT.THE KEYS WERE IN IT SO I GOT IN AND STARTED IT AND BURT LANCASTER CAME UP AND SAID WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY CAR? I WAS AWESTRUCK,AS HE WAS MY FAVORITE ACTOR.I TOLD HIM SO AND SAID THAT NONE OF THE OTHER ACTORS WERE EVEN CLOSE TO HIM AND HIS DEMEANOR CHANGED INSTANTLY,HE WAS MY BEST FRIEND,BEFROE HE WAS READY TO FIGHT ME..HIS DEMEANOR CHANGED SO FAST I COULDNT BELIEVE IT,A REAL ACTOR
I really loved him as that lawyer guy, in breaking bad. Great actor
I remember watching the kentuckian as a kid in the 70s......ive never forgotten that scene with the whip....amazing........
Those scenes with M Lancaster were very affecting. He was a fabulous screen presence. My dad loved that film being a dog man and respecting the free spirited nature of the character. Mr Costner made great Westerns too. In fact he is very good in No way out with Gene Hackman as well.
Kevin Costner is not only a great filmmaker and actor but the nicest celebrity I have met a few times and he always talks to his fans and super Awesome!
Mathew was a bad ass police chief with Douglas in Lonely the Brave. And Lancaster in the crimson Pirate is one of my favourites.
To see LANCASTER in ELMER GANTRY..is simply mesmerizing...just BRILLIANT...and soooo deserved the ACADEMY AWARD......l can still see him...running down the platform in the revival tent!!..so exciting
Watching this in Lock down here in the UK. Great movie.
Burt Lancaster was one of a kind. They broke the mold when they made that guy.
Burt Lancaster is one of my new favorite actors , incredible.
You're indeed my well dedicated fan and I must say a big thanks to you in appreciation for your fanatism and zealotry towards my movies and film productions... I now recognise you as my favourite fan out there.
What a nice guy and a great story teller.
What a nice man. I like him so much
agree lovely respectful funny memories from a lovely modest man
Burt Lancaster was one of my favorite actors he was very unique and also very handsome when he was a bit younger !
Burt was an incredible actor, a true legend. From 1947's, The Killers thru Field of Dreams in 1987, he gave us varied, memorable performances. He wasn't afraid to take on off beat roles either, Sweet Smell of Success, The Swimmer, Castle Keep...His last great lead role was in Atlantic City with Susan Sarandon, in 1981. He's an all time favorite of mine too.
@@waynej2608 Field of Dreams was a Kevin Costner movie but, you got all the others right and i saw all of Burt's Films .
@@isrberlinerin4063 Hi. Yes, but Burt was in FOD, as well. Costner was the lead, but I mentioned it, because Burt's wonderful portrayal of Doc, was small, but significant to the narrative. It also demonstrates his continued relavance in important work. I, too have seen all of Burt's films. Seperate Tables is another good one, off the top of my head. Cheers. 😃
@@waynej2608 sorry i did not know that Burt was in FoD . and yes i agree with you on the film Separate Tables he was a very intense actor and that's what i liked about him so much !
DEUS CUIDE DELE E ALONGUE OS SEUS DIAS..QUE TENHA UMA VIDA DE BOA SAÚDE...PRA CONTINUAR NOS DANDO A ALEGRIA DE VER VOCÊ ATUANDO COM PERFEIÇÃO....COMO SEMPRE E QUE SEU CORAÇÃO SEJA APAIXONADO POR ALGUEM QUE O MEREÇA ...PRA QUE ELE SEJA INTENSAMENTE FELIZ SEMPRE ❤❤❤❤.
Fascinating interview. If anyone hasn't seen "Mr.Brooks" I highly recommend it.
Rip Sir Sean Connery The Untouchables was one of my favorite non James Bond films besides The Hunt For Red October and The Rock and evening Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade
" The Hill " , if you haven't seen it ,give it a look .
@@murphy13295 The Hill is a good early Sean Connery film
@@scottknode898 He wanted that role to prove his acting chops to critics . Much Jack Nicholson & Meryl Streep with " Iron Weed " .
Mr Costner has worked with the greatest and is one of the greatest. He and Rob Duval were amazing. I believe there's yet to be another epic movie, filmed the traditional way (no cgi) from Mr Costner.
Burt Lancaster is one of the real giants of the cinema, God bless him.
That train station scene in untouchables is top 10 all time
Costner seems to be a very genuine and spontaneous person
Lancaster and Douglas in Tough Guys (1986). What a fun movie. Seven Days in May was outstanding.
I like Kevin and his conversation shows a lot about how he is like the two stars he's talking about. A down to earth guy. That's why I liked Lancaster and Douglas, too. I have Kirk's life story. I've met people from New York who knew him as a kid selling rags with his dad down NY city streets. He came up from the bottom. What a guy, what a talent. Go see Dick Cavett's interview. You'll be impressed.
That was HEARTBREAKING FOR ME.😉😃😁😎
Costner: just a class act. The classiest.
First seen his film was in Field of Dreams, I was in high school.
I'd like to hear what he has to say about working with James Earl Jones....That "people will come, Ray " scene was in my opinion the most powerful scene in the film.,
Second best, the scene with his dad at the end broke me up.
@@georgenewman7179 also Moonlight Graham walking off after saving the daughter
Aside of being a fantastic actor, Kevin Costner seems so genuine and sincere. JFK, Dances with Wolves, Untouchables, just to name a few, are some of my favourite movies. I highly recommend Fandango to all the young fans. Once of my favourites as well
Kevin Costner will be in that company one day..."Yellowstone" is brilliant!!
That good ha? I'm definitley watching then.
@@stevem2323 yes. Costner has reached the age of gruff and but not as strong physically he will work into his late 80s like Eastwood.
Kevin Cosner does excellent voice impersonations,Like him even more now
i know! ha...too bad he couldnt do a basic british accent as Robin Hood though;)
@@jessu.6414 I read somewhere that he did virtually the whole movie with an English accent but it didn't test well so they re-shot his scenes. No idea if it's true or not but it was very strange that that he did his normal accent.
His Connery was iffy
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves: I also read that rumour has it that Kevin Costner wanted to use an English accent, but Director Kevin Reynolds didn’t want him to. Supposedly Costner would affect the accent when he was arguing with Reynolds, but not when they were in agreement. Costner claimed that he was initially asked to use an accent, but this was stopped when he did it poorly.
"You saw that?" Yes. Absolutely.
Yea Kevin i saw that in Bull Durham where you mentioned Visalia, where i live and you lived for a minute,i went to Redwood High, you went to Whitney High.
i rewatched waterworld last weekend. i love it. always have. its still a very fun and excellent movie
I love his story about the screenplay for Dances with Wolves.
Best movie with Lancaster and Douglas: Seven Days in May.
Amen to that !! That's one of my all time fave films ! Top notch in EVERY dept: script, cast, direction, photography, music, etc !
David Broughall ....hey David and Jubal, do you two guys remember Frank Gorshin doing impressions of Burt and Kirk during the 60’s?
Superb!
@@68bluesI was a toddler then, so no.
@@68blues Oh Wow ! I sure to remember watching the late great Frank Gorshin on TV when I was growing up ! He was my favorite impressionist...especially when he did Burt & Kirk ! And of course was as perfection as The Riddler on TV's Batman ! Wonderful memories ! :-)
I Absolutely Agree! Everytime TCM airs it I have to watch.
Shirley Jones said in an interview that Burt was the best kisser in Hollywood. what a Stud. check out The Train, Burt does all his own stunts and kills it.
i'm really not a huge fan of kevin costner's films...but the guy has definitely accomplished a ton in his life and deserves credit. Also for his age...holy crap he is in great shape
Rich is a great host. He shows such genuine interest in his guests. Of course who would not with Kevin "TinCup" Costner.
Kevin Costner is such a humble man nice fella
