    This video contains a very sensitive subject that is still unfortunately very real in today's society. Viewer discretion is advised.

    I was in high school when the Columbine shooting happened too -- and man, this video will never be easy to watch. I'm usually not one for true crime but I have so much respect for SKYND and the way she approaches these subjects. These events are like rips in the fabric of reality -- nightmares made manifest -- and she finds a way to depict the impact without losing sight of the humanity of those impacted. Long-time SKYND fan, so psyched when y'all react to and boost her stuff!

      I was in the 9th grade when this happened. I was stereotyped and bulled when this happened. They were just scared I'd do the same thing. Fuck those assholes. I genuinely enjoy this video.

    Skynd it's not just her, Father it's part of Skynd too. He makes the music and Skynd makes the lyrics and sings. When she goes down the stairs we can see a man completely in black below, with a black mask, he is Father. After At the end of the video, just behind the stairs you can see a man standing all in black, he is Father. Sorry for my english. You are amazing, respect from Chile

    Sorry to say that the whole thing about Cassie Bernall saying "yes" was a myth. Confirmed by Emily Wyatt who was hiding under the table with "Cassie" when she was shot. The problem is that it wasn't Cassie who was asked the question. It was another student who professed her faith in God at gunpoint, but she lived to tell about it. Her name is Valeen Schnurr and she was wounded before she was asked the question. She said yes and the shooter walked away to let her live. He didn't gun her down but the religious right use that story all the time even though it has been debunked for 16 years.

    What is very impressive (to me) in this video is how your daily shit you thought sucks, changes in seconds to your worst nightmare. And all the problems you had before were nothing in comparism to that.

      it doesnt need to be guns - as soon for example you got beaten up at school - you feel the same . you feel you could die under the beating. Thats why i am for a Zero tolerance policy at school but they suck

    I was just entering high school when this happened, and as a Goth/punk inclined youth, my entire life changed after this happened. The censorship after this was definitely a real thing - my mom banned me from listening to a lot of music that I loved (I listened to it anyway in secret thanks to the beauty of Napster and MTV2) and even though I was a straight-A student and never had issues prior with any of my peers or my teachers, I quickly became a target of bullying and harassment from both. My nickname from the senior boys rugby team was Columbine, and there was one particular guy that loved to shout it at me and then punch me in the back of the head (a couple of times he pushed me down the stairs after he punched me - real nice guy). I fear for my daughter, constantly, because here in Canada, there's still the potential for her to have to go through something like this.
    I get choked up every time I watch this video. Not only is the song brilliantly done, the actors portray the fear to the point where it's palpable and you feel it right in your guts. If you guys ever get the opportunity, Dylan Klebold's mother, Sue Klebold, wrote a memoir called "A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy" and it is a very compelling read. Sad, grief stricken, and at points terrifying, but nevertheless compelling. I believe she also did a Ted Talk as well, which you can find here on TH-cam.
    Love you guys. 💕

      A Mother's Reckoning - disturbingly Great memoire! Those teachers/students sound real ar#eholes. Glad you got past that.
      Skynd make this song so awesome yet powerful yet still leaves you a chill. Pure class x

    Imagine if anyone else in that school had a gun other than the murderers. Gun free zones always have higher gun fatalities, almost as if murderers don't care about laws.

    I am so surprised you hadn't done this already but yes this is one of those brutal videos that is worth watching but it is unbearable at the same time. The song itself still has the impact even without the video. I am not shockled by the reaction, and it was perfect nonethless.
    As a little aside, Bill $aber is actually on the computer monitor in the library, he has incredibly distinct hair (you will never mistake him for someone else)

    I know this comment is going to get hate but for clarity it needs to be said. Preface is this song makes me bawl every single time i hear it because i was in a lockdown from a false shooter in highschool and I understand the initial fear of this situation. The media absolutely were the ones to blame for the prolonged effect Columbine had. When people are social outcasts they seek belonging. Almost every single person who has committed a school shooting has done so in relation to the monsters that committed this massacre. They bought their guns through an illegal channel. Someone purchased the guns for them (admittedly didnt know what they were planning) but they were cleared from any charges for selling guns illegally to underage children. Lastly the police were tipped off multiple times that these monster were mentally disturbed multiple times and did NOTHING with the information. Columbine didnt need to happen, the community let it happen. I havent addressed them by their names because they dont deserve to be called anything other than monsters and cowards. But I loved the video and i was wiping my eyes right beside Chels

    I was in 4th grade when Columbine happened.
    I did not know what happened or that it happened, as I said I was in 4th grade.
    but the day after it happened, I had a laser gun in my backpack from the sunday night before, I was playing with some friends,
    I must have left in there on accident or something, but i pulled it out while waiting in line for the bus ride home and the principal saw me with me.
    My mom was brought it, the cops were called. The principal told my mom I had to be made an example of: so I was expelled from 4th grade.
    Columbine was taken very seriously. as it should be.

    This video really fucked me up the first time I saw it. It still kinda gets to me a bit and I've seen it a dozen times. I also remember when Columbine happened and all of the fear and paranoia. This video really captures the sudden, randomness of it and the fear without glorying the killers.

    Everything was different after Columbine. Except America’s opinions on guns. It’s disgusting.

  • @Sagovindar
    @Sagovindar ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What gets me everytime is that stuff like this happens in the U.S. exclusively, yes there is guns in other countries too, but there is maybe 1 or 2 incidents like that per YEAR in other countries while it happens nearly daily in the US. So yes restrictive gun laws DO work, the rest of the world is proof of that... I'm not saying no one should be allowed guns, I'm just saying maybe check who you're selling guns to, perhaps?

    • @Duck-dp7mq
      @Duck-dp7mq ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually th US comes in 20th for firearms death and never even cracks the top 10. What's even more staggering is that all of the countries ahead have insanely strick laws if not outright banned. So restrictions do absolutely nothing but make people feel good. Not to mention that more people die in the US by way of hands/feet and blunt objects. But don't worry, we'll work on restrictions on those soon.

    • @GunUser-xc5ec
      @GunUser-xc5ec ปีที่แล้ว +1

      stabbings are rampant in Europe and nobody ever talks about the crimes prevented by guns, most often the site of a gun stops the crime and even the knowledge of a person having a gun stops crimes before they are planned and even the knowledge that a person could have a gun stops crimes before they are even considered. In the USA you would have to be nuts to attack someone simply because they might have a gun available or a nearby person might. its hard for people to Imagin numbers for things that don't happen.

  • @fionadowdeswell-simmons4968
    @fionadowdeswell-simmons4968 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Here in the UK, hun laws were radically changed after the Dunblane Massacre where 16 children aged 5 & 6 and their teacher were shot dead and 15 other children were injured. There are still shootings here but they're a rare occurrence. Our bigger problem now is knife crime. I just don't understand the mentality behind any of it. Nothing is ever solved by the mass killing of people. The song and the video are excellent, respectful to the victims but at the same time conveying the brutality of the perpetrators and the terror the victims and survivors must have felt. I've always argued one simple point in gun control- you can't shoot someone if you don't have a gun. It's that simple. We can't keep throwing our hands up in despair but not address the fundamental isdues.

    • @-scrim
      @-scrim ปีที่แล้ว

      80 IQ take.

    • @GunUser-xc5ec
      @GunUser-xc5ec ปีที่แล้ว

      What about the crimes prevented by guns. the site of a gun or knowledge of a person having a gun or even knowing they could have a gun prevents massive amounts of crime but its so hard to put a number on and some people find it imposable to Imagin the crimes prevented now becoming actual occurring crimes. In the USA people know that a gun will stop them in their tracks if they try to victimize someone. I cant Imagin how many crimes dont happen just from people not wanting to get themselves killed during a crime.
