      If you're running the factory sway bar and factory radius arms, follow the 0 offset 5" backspace recommendation. That will be the most tucked in you can get while staying away from factory parts.

    Great video. How much will the tires stick out on my 2012 F250 4x4 going from the stock 20 (been running 35x11.50 ridge grappler), going to a 22" Fuel wheel with 35x12.50 or 35x13.50. right now it looks like high heels. tires are not even with fender well. I just don't want them sticking way out of the fenders

    I just put 37 13.50 20 wheels are -44 off set on a 16 F-350, was wondering if you guys had a trim video for that since I still rub at full turn. And great vide.

      Sadly you just have to cut a LOT more. That setup will never properly clear since it's so aggressive.

    Thank you for sharing. This is all great content. I am trying to plan for a 2.5" commuter build on a 2017 F250. I really like the look of the 17" NV 17"x8.5" 0 offset on a 37"x12.5". I see most of your builds use an 18"x9" NV with a +18 offset. Is ride quality or rubbing a lot worse? How is the poke outside the fender on the 17"s vs the 18"s? I like the larger tire look. Builds are sick- Keep it up!

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +18 sits the wheels about flush with the fenders, but 0 offset looks better as it sits a bit wider. The trimming is still pretty minimal with 0 offset!

    Followed this but no cutting and a cleaner finish. Instead of cutting into the metal, use sheet metal clamps to bend the lip straight out. Afterwards take the whole thing and bend straight up. No zip ties, no cut metal, and it looks factory minus the cut plastic.

    Would this trimming work to help clear 40x15.5r20 on a 20x9.5 -18 offset with a 2022 F250 on a 6 inch lift?
    I see it's possible as there is a f250 with similar setup online (long john silver f350 build) they mention trimming but don't go into detail.
    I want 40s but not an 8 inch lift and can't find properly rated tires that I like in 40x13.5. I also would add a 3/4-1 inch bumper spacer if needed.

  • @evanc85
    @evanc85 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video as always! I don't understand offsets and backspacing as much as I should but would like to know what the cons are for this "worst case" trim job? Is it just having to trim the truck or is it that you will lose some articulation/ Travel/ or what? I want my tires tucked as much as possible but not if it will change too much of its capability.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want it tucked you’re fine without crazy trimming. Heavy trimming comes from having a negative offset wheel. The ideal spec for Fords is 4.75-5” of backspace, which is around 0 to +5 offset. That will let you fit a 37” tire and maintain zero rub through the whole suspension travel with a little trimming.

    • @CJCOffRoad

    • @CoreyGrey
      @CoreyGrey 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      37/12.50/18 for sure. 35s look way too small with a lift and 13.50s are too wide. Some people throw on 13.50s though. The popular (and recommended setup) for a 2.5” lift is +18 offset wheels with 37/12.50/18 tires. No rubbing with that setup. 2nd most popular option is the 20” wheel with the same offset and tire dimension.

      You’ll have some pretty significant rub on the radius arms and sway bar with 37s on the factory wheels (even if they’re only 11.5” wide). You’re welcome to install steering stops, but we typically prefer to just let the tire rub and keep the front end factory!

    I’ve already trimmed the fender to the max like in this video. I am still rubbing when backing up or pulling into driveways with the wheel turned. I can’t figure out where it is running. Any idea where it would be rubbing with this setup?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re rubbing, it sounds like your wheels might be the issue. Can you confirm the wheel specs for us so we know the width, offset and backspace? Remember that trimming only has to happen where the tire is hitting, so have a friend drive while you watch where the tire rubs. That’s the best way to only trim what’s necessary!

      Remember we trim for actual off road use of the truck, and this video shows a “worst case scenario” with -12 offset wheels. Most people just trim to clear without the suspension flexed, but we always trim so that the truck can turn lock to lock at full bottom so there’s never rub in any situation.

    @timp8stuff20 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, Carli recommends 17 or 18" X 9 with +12 offset (5.5 backspace) with 37's X 12.5 as the best fitment with 2.5 pintop. ford super duty.. Who is right?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We filmed this video to be a “worst case” trimming example. In other words, this is the most extreme trim you can do for the wheel and tire set up that fits the worst. Your ideal set up will be that 5.5 bs wheel with a 37x12.5 tire. The thing is that Super Duty trucks have a ton of fender space, so you can get away with a little more than that if you really want to, so we wanted to show that. You’ll be trimming less on a 5.5 bs and 12.5 wide set up.

    I got a 2017 F250 with a 2.5inch leveling kit, can I fit some 20x10s on 37/12.50/20s with a -18 offset? will it need trimming?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That will not fit. Even with heavy trimming you’re going to rub

      Fwiw, I currently have no lift 22x10 -18, 35x13.50 and I removed the plastic piece and bent the piece they cut off in this video. And there isn’t any rubbing now. I’ve got a 2.5 system on the way and plan on doing 37x12.50 shortly after.

    What offset do I need to run for an 18” method wheel with 35s on a 2018 F250? Currently stock until I order a 2.5” Carli kit

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To fit 37s or 35s on a Super Duty, we typically recommend around a 5” backspace number. O offset to +12 offset on a 8.5-9.5” wide wheel is ideal .

    Will 37's fit on a stock 2019 f250 with just a level kit with stock wheels?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but on the stock wheels the tires will rub the radius arms and sway bar. You need aftermarket wheels that don’t have such a high positive offset and backspace number.

    • @bigbr4

      Would it only rub at full lock? Thanks in advance.

      Yeah basically at the extremes of the turning radius.

      If you find a good quality 2 inch hub centric wheel spaces. It won't run the radius arm or sway bar

      Also I like it if the tires poke just a little past the outside of the top of the fender, maybe like 1.25-1.5”
