    ok ngl I am wondering what bikes u can get in japan?
    I have a car aswell as a motorcycle liscence but I dont plan to move to japan just to spend some vacation there but I would still love to ride through japan, then again oc I would prefer my own bike XD I think there is the possibility to just ship it there but honestly it be way more comfortable to just rent sth in japan, but in this case I am kind of worrying than u can actually rent over there...

      I think buying a cheaper used bike might be a better idea and the insurance is very affordable. New bikes can be a little expensive here but still a good option and I'm not sure about the cost of renting a bike for an extended period of time, or importing!
      I really love riding my motorcycle in Japan. I regret almost every second I don't ride it.

    Can I directly go to driving center to take a 400cc license even if i only have is 50cc (mopeds license?

    • @MukimukiRunner
      @MukimukiRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can take a motorcycle test without driving school at some centers or police stations I heard but it’s more difficult to pass.
      It’s usually 1-2 mon each time I believe Also, I’m not sure about this but you might have to take one class if you don’t have a regular driving license. I know when I was signing up for driving school there was an extra mandatory safety class or something but since I already had a driving license I was exempt. I remember reading about something similar if you try to take the test directly but this was a few years ago!

    Does the motorcycle test have a paper test/Multiple Choice like the drivers license if you do the school way? if so is it available in English? thank you.

    • @MukimukiRunner
      @MukimukiRunner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      IshiGame I had a regular Japanese drivers license when I took my motorcycle license test. There was no paper test except to measure your mental stability. This test does not count for anything. It was in Japanese though. They may have it in English though.

    Hi! great help. Did you say ten courses in all?

    • @MukimukiRunner
      @MukimukiRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will depend on which bike license you want and the school. For me it was 10 2-hour sessions for a total of 20 hours. This was for the smallest license and I already have a drivers license so I don’t need the class time. If you want a more expansive bike license that covers more engine sizes it will take more classes, probably 15-20. If you don’t already have a regular car drivers license you will also need class time hours which is about 26 hours at my local school so maybe similar to other schools.

    • @MukimukiRunner
      @MukimukiRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By classes I mean riding/safety sessions. By class time I mean actual class time studying general driving rules not specific to motorcycle driving they teach if you go the traditional route to get a car drivers license. If you already have a license you are exempt from these classes.

    What if I already have a license in the states? Would I still have to take a test in Japan?

    • @MukimukiRunner
      @MukimukiRunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have had a motorcycle license for longer than 3 months while living In the states before coming to Japan, you should be able to convert your license. Converting your motorcycle license should be the same as converting your US car license which means you will have to take a 10-question multiple-choice test and a practical test. I am not sure if the price is different than a car license conversion or included but it should be less than 10,000 yen which is much cheaper than driving school. Japan also has 3 different motorcycle licenses based on engine size so you will want to make sure you tell them which license you want and they will ask you several questions about this and it might be up to their discretion on which one you receive, however, I am not 100% sure. Each one allows you to ride up to a certain size bike with the last being unlimited. The last thing I can think of is that certain states have an exemption from the mc and practical test but most don't. If you happen to be from one of those states, I believe you do not have to take the tests but I can't recall which ones.

    Does the textbook is in english,?

    • @MukimukiRunner
      @MukimukiRunner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. Japanese. However, it’s very direct and instructional Japanese so even if you just have a basic understanding of Japanese you could read through it in under a week. It took me about one day to read it.
      There was about 70 new words in it for me at the time. So I made flash cards and studied them. That was probably the most helpful thing I did.
      There are several synonyms for words in the textbook that the instructors would use over the words with the same meaning in the book. For example, I would ask something from the book but their response would usually contain words of the same meaning but not the same at the textbook.
      The textbook is a very small part of the process. If you are interested in taking your license, a Japanese textbook shouldn’t be a deterrent. The book will help you understand what you need to do before you start classes but if you can understand the information the instructor is telling you that is the most important as it was the most helpful.

      At a driving school, anywhere from 100,000 yen to 250,000 yen. Depending on which license you want, the smaller class licenses being the cheapest and vise versa.

      @@MomotaroNiwa Sorry I thought you meant camp as in camping because of the thumbnail. Driving school is usually 10 hours in 1-2 hour segments of course driving and another 4-6 hours of classroom stuff. You do not have to stay at the school in a dorm, like a lot of college students do, you can take the classes at your own pace at a driving school and arrange classes that fit your schedule. The driving school I went to was in another city and a drove there after work Trying to get 2-3 classes a week..
