I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the seven-hundred-ninetieth day of the war.
Day 790: Apr 23
Today, there are a lot of updates from the Avdiivka direction.
Here, Russians exploited a Ukrainian mistake and executed a daring and risky maneuver in an attempt to accomplish multiple strategic goals at once, endangering the entire Ukrainian defensive operation.
On the northern flank of Avdiivka, the primary objective of the Russians is advancing westward to take the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk. This city is the main Ukrainian headquarters in the area, from which they coordinate, reinforce, and supply their forces on the frontline. As such, Ukrainians have established multiple lines of defense to halt any Russian attempts to take this city.
At first, the Russians focused their breakthrough attempts on the first Ukrainian defensive line behind the Durna River. After multiple successful Ukrainian defensive operations, Ukrainians became overly focused on this line, allocating a large amount of manpower and equipment from other directions to continue to hold it. If we look at the topographic map, we can also see that Ukrainians have established their defenses on the high ground behind the river. Any Russian attempt to cross the river, therefore, comes under fire from the Ukrainians up the hill.
Russian commanders realized that their chances of breaking through the Ukrainian defense in this direction were close to zero. That is why Russians decided to conduct an opportunistic attack designed to outflank the Ukrainian defenses to the east along the railways. This way, Russians could attack the Ukrainian defense line not only from the flanks but also from the same elevation.
In preparation for this move, Russian aviation conducted air strikes with FAB glide bombs on Ukrainian positions along the planned Russian axis of advance and the Ukrainian-held town of Ocheretyne. Ukrainian sources also report that Russians started intensely shelling Ukrainian positions in this direction with artillery, severely limiting Ukrainian military movement and rescue operations of civilians stuck under the rubble of targeted buildings.
After the artillery preparations, Russians started conducting multiple probing attacks on the railway line and the surrounding tree lines. The Ukrainian 45th mechanized brigade shared geolocated footage of the destruction of a Russian assault group consisting of one armored personnel carrier with infantry. However, as it turns out, Ukrainians had allocated too much forces to the Durna defense line. This, combined with the intense aerial and artillery bombardment, had created a gap in the Ukrainian defenses. Russians quickly realized this and intensified their attacks, pushing on to the Zarya settlement and even establishing a small foothold in the town of Ocheretyne in only three days.
Notably, these Russian attacks consisted of pure infantry, as they were forced to stick to the forest belt along the railway line. The railway line itself is not yet suitable for Russians to move armored vehicles over, as it lacks cover and is under complete Ukrainian fire control from both sides. After the surprise wore off, Ukrainians quickly relocated units from the 30th and 59th mechanized brigades to reinforce the town and conduct immediate counterattacks.
Geolocated footage confirms the presence of Russian forces on the southern outskirts of the Town as Ukrainians engage Russian forces in the exterior trenches with artillery and drones. During the attack, a Ukrainian observation drone spotted a massive concentration of approximately 50 Russian soldiers exiting the substation on the edge of the town. Russians were using this building as a staging ground, from where the infantry would be directed to further attack certain buildings. After this observation, Ukrainians immediately conducted artillery and drone strikes on the building itself while Russians frantically attempted to flee the kill zone. Russian sources then claimed that these survivors were relocated to positions along the tree belt next to the railway to be more spread out against further Ukrainian attacks. These Russian sources also stated that while the attacks on the town itself had halted, Russian forces were preparing and ready to launch another large attack on Ocheretyne.
Geolocated footage also confirms that Russians did not completely retreat from the settlement. Ukrainian geolocated footage shows Ukrainian drone operators engaging Russian infantry in the outskirts with drone-dropped grenades. Further released footage shows that Russians are using a Ukrainian trench as a path...

Ukraine should be supplied with an airforce-worth of fighter aircraft, such as the F-16s and longer-range precision munitions, such as ATACMS (more of them, and the longest-range variants should be provided}), and the russian military facilities inside of russia should be considered legitimate targets. It is worth noting that support for military aid to Ukraine in America is over 80% and increasing. This is because Americans can see that not only is aiding Ukraine the ethical thing to do;, it is the practical thing as well. America has spent only approximately 6% of our military budget so far to help Ukraine. However, over half of the russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure! In addition to this, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a more peaceful, stable place for many generations - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region. That is why billions spent today saves trillions tomorrow.. The vast majority of Americans understand this. Americans also want to see Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. This is why Americans are correct to support giving military aid to Ukraine.
Please write to your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are a US citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in war-winning quantities, and soon. The sooner we give Ukraine the weapons it needs to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be over, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website. One can also google for ones' elected representatives - many of which have similar websites. One may simply write and submit a letter electronically to make one's desire known.
This is bad news, but I appreciate the non-bias reporting of even failures. I lost count how many channels either don't report it or try to spin it as a win.
The only way to fix failures is to report the truth on them. Good stuff, my dude.
Unfortunately, I think he has talked up the performance of the AFU quite a lot in this video. They made several major mistakes, and putting things right is going to be incredibly tough, because the defence lines behind Ochyeretyne are nothing like as sturdy as he suggested at 0:35. There are just a few dug outs in the tree lines and the occasional more hardened positions on high ground. This is a really big opportunity for the Russians, and it appears to be due to downright incompetence shown by the defending elements of the AFU. In no way would I call this "non-bias reporting".
I don't think it's non-biased. There are many more failures than this. The world needs to either shit or get off the pot on this. Long, protracted wars benefit nobody other than the MIC.
I enjoy RFU's open acknowledgement of their bias. They are not pretending to be even-handed. However, RFU is showing honesty, and this is commendable.
he is biased but at least he does tell negative events. Other "reporters" omit them entirely.
Good to know Ukraine got additional support from US. Thanks you american taxpayers!
On the other hand now ukrainian government with that funds can focus more on repressing the rest of ukrainian citizen, including those who went abroad
Sending you some love from Arizona!
Thank you so much for your support!
apparently the 115th brigade, which was guarding that village, disobeyed orders and then fled from it.
the 47th was sent to fill the new gap, but the redeployment was delayed due to bombing.
they were below 50% manpower so they’ll probably make new units after they get disbanded
@@spurdosparde9487They were disbanded already, watched it on another channel, they were so decimated the brigade was disbanded. Sometimes in war you get rick-rolled….This week Ukraine got rolled, hope next weeks better.
You are absolutely right. It was a complete stuff up, and due to disobedience and incompetence. Yes, it's right to flee when FAB 1500's are dropping on you, but you have to keep your troops nearby and be back in there as soon as the bombing stops. Ukraine should have reliable intel regarding when the Russian planes have turned back, and should also have had every opportunity to get back in before the Russians did.
C'est la vie (ou la Guerre), and now the AFU have the tough job of trying to reverse this, which would be very, very, tough to do.
We should also mention here that the 115th is totally under equipped, they had not enough mines to mine the railway dam where a Russian recon squad found a gap, the equipment is BMP1s and BMP2s, old Soviet artillery pieces and most and for all: basically zero night vision equipment.
It had good reason Russia had all that success during night attacks.
The 47th has far better and night fighting capable gear.
So I d be careful with whom to blame here. If the only thing at night you can do is getting shot, trading terrain for your life to fight another day (hopefully with MANPADs, ATGMs and night vision goggles) isn’t the worst of options.
The 115th was defeated, and the 47th was relocated, after which it also collapsed. Respect the work of our military.
Thank you for reporting things as they are even if the news could be better. Still hoping for a swift Ukrainian win, but reality is what it is...
Something like this was eventually going to happen considering just how overstretched Ukrainian resources are right now. The only real question is whether support will come soon enough to prevent similar failures from occurring, and potentially contain this one.
There has already been stockpiled massive amounts of the most critically needed items in Poland and Germany. Air defence missiles and artillery shells will get hauled across the border the second Biden signs the bill, which will be in a few hours from now.
Idk man, this seems like a strategic blunder. It may be that Ukraine needs to fire the strategists who allowed this to happen
@@Endwankery In hindsight, at the time I made this comment we didn't really know the details of what happened. I don't think it was as much a blunder as either incompetence on behalf of the guy leading the 115th, or malice(there are rumors he took a bribe, and the fact he's still missing gives credence to that). Though I do still think that something like this would eventually have happened.

Thank you very much for bringing the good news with the bad ones and keeping it real. Loosing some battles isn't loosing the war. 👍
"Losing some battles isn't losing the war."
but he predicts them and is one of the clearest examples of such cases
Good line. Losing battles isn't losing war. But I fear more losses
I’m surprised you didn’t say the good news at the end:
That The Senate passed the $60+ Billon in aid to Ukraine AND even a motion to fork over an additional $6 billion in seized Russian Assets to Ukraine (Which could in turn have the rest of the $300 Billion from across Europe be sent over as well).
Bout darn time our useless politicians got off their pompous butts and did something for a change…
Videos are scripted, edited early, so they sometimes get outdated. Usually it's not possible to update a video which is already done without major delays. It's obvious in this particular case delays would be bad as it's about bad news from the frontlines and delays and confusion could leave open "the hatch" for dis and misinformation from Kremlin to seep into allied & civilian population.

house and senate passed it, and it is on biden's desk in the morning

really
What a bad notification to see. But they have gotten so deep, but it's totally vulnerable to attacks from the sides, or simply just controlling the supply line. It's a deep run but unsustainable if the situation doesn't spread.
115th abandoned the town and 47th is trying to plug the hole in, the counterattack was unsuccessful so they’ll probably leave it alone and abandon the area
The shocking is that it is not the first time Ukraine is unable to close such seemingly vulnerable breaches. Not learning is also UA skill.
Russia has been more successful in these jabs than Ukraine. If it was Ukraines attack, what you said would be true... but they succeeded to hold a similar bridgehead in Avdiivka which was surrounded from all sides. Ukraine is remakably bad at fighting with a superiority.
TH-cam armchair general
The problem is that this place, both the route and the town itself, is located on high ground. The Ukrainians do not have the artillery to keep the route inaccessible to the Russians... The Russians are also expanding the gap even more.
We greatly appreciate you reporting not just Ukraine's successes, but its shortcomings too.
It is important to report on the whole picture and remember that this is no walk in the park, Ukraine must continue to fight smart and hard for every inch of its territory.
Ukraine eastern territories are lost, everyone with a bit of common sense knows that
😂😂🤡
Good Day !
Damn. Two steps forward, one step back.
It’s not good, but the fight ain’t over until it’s over.
where are these two steps forward?
No. More like 2 steps forward and 5 steps back. Y’all lost several towns in the past few days
I don't like this bad news at all, but we need to hear all the news, good and bad. Thank you, RFU.
Yeah well I don't like you so, I couldn't give a fuck if you like it or not.
These setbacks need to be viewed in the context of
7 months without US support. Every retreat has come at high cost to Russia. In the next weeks, such operations will cost Russia far more. And it’s possible that the Russian mainland will now also suffer more directly from Ukrainian attacks until such time as Putin can no longer pretend to his people that the SMO is a success and winnable.
According to the debate over US Aid, over 4-5B USD in military equipment was sent since the first of the year which still needed to be paid for. I think Ukraine already got 20% of the 60B aid package and it is already gone. Another thing, the news keeps talking about Ukraine is NOW outgunned 10-1; Old News. Ukraine has been outgunned in artillery 10-1 since the first day of the war - all BS to make people believe Ukraine will somehow reduce the 10-1 artillery gun balance or artillery munitions balance which is untrue. ONE LAST ECONOMIC STIMULUS FOR THE US DEFENSE INDUSTRY.
It's hard to tell. War time production has shown us that Russia can produce multiple lancet drones per month. The assault may hold up. I fear however the bombing raids won't.
No, this needs to be viewed in the context that with several exceptions (UK, Baltic countries) Europe has given the bare minimum support. This is a Europe problem as UKR is not only not NATO but one of the most corrupt countries in Europe.
Also what need to be put into context is that with this latest bill we have given UKR over $160BN in aid. Toi further put that into context, the entire RUS yearly defense budget is about $80. That means over hte past 2 years we have given UKR equivalent of 2 years worth of RUS defense spending. And what does UKR have to show for it...continued losses.
It's time EUR gets their head out of their buts and start supporting UKR war effort like is means something.
@@davidvettes4ever898 You say that Ukraine is "one of the most corrupt countries in Europe". Do you think that possibly Russia can be THE most corrupt country in Europe (and Asia for that matter).
@@davidvettes4ever898 Because alot of European powers expect Ukraine to just lose, so they're preparing to make new deals with Russia. They don't care.
Very difficult to get such bad news. Keep strong and our thoughts are with you for victory. Slava Ukraine!
At the moment Ochertino has already been completely liberated. I don't understand why you need such an outdated report, and even with victory speeches.
@@NPSpaceZZZLiberated by who? Russia? Because it is 100% controlled by the orcs now.
@@NPSpaceZZZ easy. Not every bad news equals pro--Russian victory speeches. Indeed, being realistic is important to galvanize support for Ukraine and build pressure on our politicians to do more.
I'd suggest that all frontline news come with a significant delay, too. Both sides have an interest in that simply for OPSEC. Careful analysis of the situation and verification require a further delay and not a break neck Twitter speed. And no, I am not pro-Russian and donate significant amounts to Ukraine.
@@NPSpaceZZZ Report is fine.
And the other refreshing thing is the honesty about the situation- that is what you get with the Ukrainians even if it is bad news.

@@kevinoliver788it’s heartbreaking that Zelenskyy’s ego had to go before any of his men to begin with. Had he surrendered, not a single person would’ve died
this sounds like the exact kind of situation where Ukrainian reserves would be allocated to, without re-stating what has already been said about a billion times, it's a good thing that aid package passed when it did.
Russian forces are faced with a bit of a dilemma here, either they attempt to establish a stable foothold or they'll end getting cut-off by a pincer maneuver, as much as I would have preferred US aid being passed months ago I think it's important to acknowledge just how crucial it is that it finally en-route to Ukraine now, another couple of weeks of delay could have lead to a substantial breakthrough of Ukrainian defensive lines.

the world got lucky, here's hoping Ukraine can reverse their mistake.
So when the aid arrives and ukraine keeps getting rick-rolled…whats your next excuse? Great video again thanks
Russians are learning and fighting smarter. Let’s hope additional aid and training helps Ukraine keep up.
The question is how long do these Orcs have supplies for. Especially food should be in short supply with such an operation.
Cope and dial 8.
@@Rozmic
How is it cope? You can see how much stuff the orcs are carrying with them and it isn't much in provisions...
The same question should also be asked of the Ukrainians. It's not that big of an operation in retrospect. Storm Zs found a weak point, called in reinforcements (which were already on standby and freshly-rotated), and they just charged head-in.
Which begs the question, why did the Ukrainians abandoned their position so quickly? If it was a trap, they could've counterattacked and cut the Russians from retreating following the exploited bulge. But now that they have established a foothold on the town with rubbles nearby as cover, retaking it will be twice as hard.
What can be said, for sure, is that the Ukrainians are really outnumbered and low on supplies. Otherwise, unit rotations should not be a problem to hold and react to a Russian breach.
Sad we just sit here and watch it happen to one of our western allies also sad how its even happening this invasion could have Been prevented if we just sent troops well they were building up on Ukraine's border🤦♂️

Soledar was the high elevation that allowed Russians to encroach on Bakhmut and surround it. In Avdiivka, the catastrophic pipe infiltration to a salient... Fyi the advance is about 5km in depth and very narrow, I don't think it's something that cannot be contained.
FYI russian forces have fanned out taking towns to the north and south…go to other channels and look at the map now! Its worse then you think.
The russians are retreating forward , while ukrainians are advancing backwards,
This was the last help of Mike Johnson for Putin. With the new AA and shells arriving these tactics will no longer work. Vote Dems!
As long as Sullivan is advising Biden I am not so sure that the aid will be really delivered. Remembrr what happened to the land lease decision.
fuck the dems, they only make war.
Not every battle can be won and let's hope the AFU can recover from this breach. Slava Ukraini.
They are continuously loosing the battle against Russians 😂
@@SlasherCat-oe4nd the USSR was as well against the Germans, or in a opposite situation Poland in the 1920s as well, where it went back in forth a few times actually. or the Commonwealth deluge of the 1600s against the Russians and Swedes (it was kind of a free for all for all 3 though). if when want to go pre modern, the 100 years war being a great example. Alethread the great? there is plenty of examples.
continuously is big stretch too. The war is still fluid, Ukraine last offensive was rather lack luster for them, but Russia current offensive is hardly any better. 2023 the borders moved 200 miles squared. (not 200 miles forwards, the enitre border changed 200 miles in area in favore of russia) the border is 1000 lus miles longs. so not very impressive in whole year. slow steady may win the race but at that pace well I don't know many people who 200 plus years so it might take a while, obviously things can and will change its not going to be linear time scale, but don't expect it stay going in same direction.
Fantastic thanks again
I can't beleive how much the world will put up with all the destruction that comes from one mans ego.
It is remarkable. Putin and his fellow dictators are the central problem. Justice will come to them though.
The world never learn. History repeats itself.
This shows how little you know.
@@adityabahl wtf are you even talking about?
@@thegailen you seriously think its "because of one mans ego", that shows how little you know about geopolitics, and then have the gall to ask what do I even mean like an imbecile, ig thats what the internet is at this point
This is why we trust RfU. You simply tell the truth.
Might be time to go to the negotiating table 🤔
Great info
We stand together.
Russian aviation is the biggest threat to the front lines. 😮
What a surprise.
SLAVA UKRAINI
Thank you for being objective and unbiased in delivering news from the battlefield
The underlying issue remains the lack of timely support from the West.
Whilst Russia throws people into the meat grinder, because it can, with the Ukrainian forces having to rely on dwindling munitions and lack of defensive capability. The situation they find themselves should not be a surprise. It isn't as though these has been no assistance; it is just that the assistance has been uncoordinated, piecemeal, and with no strategic outcome defined / declared by Umrain's allies: NATO... EU, US, UK's strategic outcome.
Will the sudden influx of material be enough to hold off the Russian advances? And will the West push to have Russia expelled from the areas they have illegally invaded?
what meatgrinder?
are you referring to the russian 'meat waves' or 'human waves' attacks? Those are just purely propaganda and russia is not stupid. They can learn and when they learn, mistakes can happen.
Ukraine was always going to lose. Manpower wins wars
He thinks Russian uses infantry tactics from WW2
Glide bmb waves instead human waves.
This isn’t Afghanistan. You aren’t expelling one of the world’s largest military powers from shit. Even if the war ended here, Ukraine will never get back the territory it lost.
Thanks
Thank you so much for your support!
Us senate passed aid for Ukraine with the first batch fast approaching, let's hope this will stop the russian s progress when it gets there.
ruzzians trying to burst through with haste while Ukraine is still under-equipped. The packages will get there pretty fast but it will take a bit of time to clean up the mess of the last few months.
He is the most reliable source in the internet, he isn't being bias which i really appreciate. But the good news is thay Georgia finally will support Ukraine
