After the story, when Todd starts singing Bojangles, I can picture Jerry Jeff come dancing out, like he did that time when Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires were playing with Todd and Jerry Jeff did that surprise appearance.
I read a quote about him today that said 'He never wanted to be famous, but he sure enjoyed bestowing fame to others'...that's a real songwriter for ya
Adventure? Like Alice in Wonderland down the rabbit hole - a glimpse into another world. Love Mr Bojangles, and picked up on the "after twenty years he still grieves" which no doubt reverberates with you. Todd Snider is (or was then) a troubled man - I hope life got easier for him. I'll also check out Jerry Jeff Walker, might like some more of his output.
Todd looks more than tired, he looks strung out. We saw him play in Nederlands, Colorado, last week and the guy was struggling. Our guess was opiates, likely heroin, and if that's the fact, then it will only go down from here. Hopefully we're wrong and he's just tired. We love Todd and always hope the best.
I sort of saw him a couple of years ago in Wilmington NC. He came out, looking really bad, played 3 songs, and then said "You don't have to pay me, you just have to forgive me." And then he walked off of the stage. Luckily, I got really close to the stage so my wife could take my picture with him standing and playing behind me before he stopped playing. I had a huge grin on my face. He only played 3 songs, but I still think it was worth the wait. I've seen him 4 other times, and I loved every show.
He is clearky High here nor opiats ..Maybe also that but you dont pull this off without some Coke or Meth I hope for him that it is not Meth I hate that Drug .And belive me I been on al those Rides for years Im 50 soon and on Subutex and downers so Sober in my Life but needs those Med to gat up in the morning .So I just Hope he is not Falling totaly..I always did like Todd Snider and Im not even an American just an Average guy from Norway.!Keep it up Todd just take care.!
A word of advice. If you ever decide to wean yourself off of downers, do it over at least a year. I think England has the best weaning schedule. If you go to a detox program they will wean you far too fast. See: Extended benzo withdrawal syndrome.
There are 10 to 20 people on youtube every day 24/7 who are paid to thumbs down every single video. The overall number in their downer workforce is around 100. They rotate shifts. Don't trouble yourself to wonder what type of person would thumbs down wonderful material. I'm sure they laughed and smiled and enjoyed this video along with us but they have a job to do and at the end of the video they thumbs down it. On we go!
I'd dearly love to slap the person who butchered the lyrics for the closed-captioning, buy them a ton of drinks, and laugh our asses off. ..for an evening or so.

This story is so good it makes me cry, and I don’t know why....it’s just too perfect.
This is a fitting tribute to Jerry.
You can feel the love.
Todd's doing a tribute on Outlaw on sirius soon.
Can't think of a better man to do the honors.
How can I be so happy and so sad at the same time...
because of how wired Todd appears???
@@ClevelandLiveMusic Lol, little sniffy. Must have had a cold, or forgot what Jerry Jeff’s bits looked like.😉
We love you Todd. Take care of yourself. Please. Been there brother. Please.
He needs a parachute - flying for sure.

So great! Watched this after Tribe won their 14th! This is the best day of my life!

He needs to lay down for awhile. Great story and song! Hope you’re in a better place today Mr Snider!
So sad. I love this guy. I hope he overcomes that shit.

RIP Jerry Jeff...
I remember riding in the car with my dad and he played Jerry Jeff a lot. There is a high part of country music that doesn't even know what they lost.
I read a quote about him today that said 'He never wanted to be famous, but he sure enjoyed bestowing fame to others'...that's a real songwriter for ya
Wonderful!
loved this!

High as FUCK!!
a one step program, lol!
The ice chewing a drink swirling in the background ruins the story
Next time I will scold the other patrons
Was enjoying this until we got to here the pig eating in the background.

Todd's not doing anything he hasn't always done,
Great story. Huge Jerry Jeff fan. Love Todd too, but, fear for how he appears.
