  • Churuli Movie Explained - The Labyrinth of Evil | Lijo Jose Pellissery | Sony LIV
Lijo Jose Pelissary’s latest cinematic expedition Churuli is yet another mind-bending fable that leaves you astounded and devastated for the longest time ever. Churuli stands for Labyrinth - A maze, a complicated irregular network of passages and paths in which it becomes difficult to find one’s way.
This is the exact nature of this film’s narrative. It is indeed a maze. But the beauty of this maze resembles the beauty of cinema - just like how a story can be perceived in various ways, the maze of Churuli can be solved with different methods. This open-ended nature of the film’s concept allows the audience to experience the series of events by applying different interpretations. So, keeping this in mind, let me present my two interpretations of Churuli. And you can present yours in the comments. After all, what can be a better topic than cinema to begin a conversation right?

That bit about how every camera angle gives a feeling of being noticed, I think that's also a way of conveying that nature knows everything. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
Another aspect that I really loved in this film is the sound design. Impeccable!

The film was highly inspired by 2017 “the endless” by Justin benson and Aaron Moorhead…. Only difference I guess is characters here are subconsciously aware that they are stuck in time loop and not consciously…

You don’t have to apologise buddy. Cinema is all about exploration. There can be multiple layers in a story like you rightly pointed out. I presented my thoughts on this film. And everyone can have their own perspective. That’s the beauty of cinema!

    Your second interpretation seems plausable.
