      @@FundamentalsofFinancethis makes me more confident in my FDVV choice. Also a great reminder that there is no right or wrong choice; it’s just choosing the one that most aligns with your investment goals.

    Perfect timing. I recently discovered FDVV & CGDV. FDVV & CGDV has about 28% overlap. FDVV & SCHD is about 15% overlap. CGDV & SCHD has about 8% overlap. Nothing is wrong for having all three ETFs as they are all diversified.

      100% agree!

      @Colorado_Native หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, there is not much overlap. I own all three. Until it approaches 40% (my little rule) I am not that concerned.

    As usual your timing is best. I was thinking to replace FDVV with another fund.
    My trading account has SCHD and FDVV whereas IRA has SCHD and CGDV in 75:25 ratio allocation towards large value factor.
    Now I am going to keep same SCHD and CHDV combination in both accounts in 3:1 ratio, do you think is it a good idea?

    • @FundamentalsofFinance
      @FundamentalsofFinance  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The short unsatisfying answer is that it depends what your objective is and what else is in your portfolio. But yes for a value allocation in a portfolio i think either of those combinations would generally make sense.

    May I ask of anyone know - is there a price difference if I buy FDVV at fidelity or at Schwab ? And similarly , is there price difference if I buy schd at Schwab or at fidelity ? Thank you !!

    • @FundamentalsofFinance
      @FundamentalsofFinance  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      No price difference for ETFs on different platforms except sometimes if they charge a separate transaction fee. Vanguard does that for some non-vanguard funds but I'm not aware of that at fidelity and I know schwab doesn't

    Just wanted to comment and say you provide some great clarity in comparing these ETF’s and the style of your videos makes it super easy to follow. I wanted to know your thoughts on a portfolio composition for someone like myself who plans to retire early (10-15 or sooner years around age 40 or 45, currently 26 and will graduate at 28) as a dividend-focused investor if my wife and I will make roughly 300k yearly gross income. My portfolio is just starting in a taxable brokerage with SCHD and DGRO, and I am hoping to add things like GPIX, GPIQ, SPYI, etc to achieve FIRE more quickly building off those 2 core positions at maybe 60% in hopes of beating inflation, minimizing tax burden and NAV erosion (hopefully gains), and all the other good stuff you are much more qualified than myself on. Separately I plan to have growth ETFs in a separate Roth IRA or Universal or Whole Life policy (info on this would be nice) for when we hit traditional retirement age as a boost. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. Please keep the content coming!

      Forgot to mention we plan to invest roughly 150k per year into the brokerage before other investments!

      Thank you! Will do! I can't give specific advice on this channel but imo long-term growth investors (which it sounds like you are) should not invest a single cent in a covered call ETF. Dividends are OK for diversification from growth (growth style... we did videos explaining growth and value investing if you want to learn more.) Assuming you've got the right mindset to keep investing through the volatility, I would focus only on maximizing long-term growth potential with a diversified portfolio. That means growth and value, US and non-US, but no bonds and no covered call ETFs that cap the upside. Income doesn't matter for you right now because you're earning all you need and from what it sounds like, investing almost all of your disposable income. Hopefully you also own a home. Otherwise I would definitely make sure to put that in your plans. It's a great long-term wealth builder.
      Our next video will be comparing top small-cap ETFs/mutual funds. Keep an eye out for that. Small caps would be a big part of my portfolio if I were in your shoes (which I was at your age). They're probably like 15-20% of my 401k and ~20% of my personal portfolio, fwiw. That doesn't mean that's necessarily the right amount for you but I have high conviction in them right now and I have a similar long-term time horizon as you in my 401k. Hope that helps!

    ❤ Vid ❤ 2 yrs ago I was looking for an etf to counterbalance my portfolio of single tech stocks. SCHD won - no NVDA, MSFT, AAPL, GOOG, AMZN, META, TSLA...

    • @FundamentalsofFinance
      @FundamentalsofFinance  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's great! I agree it's a solid compliment (and probably the best of these 3 since it's the most different) to those stocks.

    VGT outperformed SCHD and VOO over 5 and 10 years. Despite having most of my $500k retirement in VGT, I try to beat my Roth with my taxable account but still underperform the S&P 500.

    Technology moves fast. if someone stuck with SCHD over the last five years and not "diversified" with a lot of NVDA and other MAG7 stuff they lost out a lot of money. My investment better than doubled over the last five years, without SCHD. I have liquidated $250k and set aside for safer investment. This $250k would not have been there if I stuck with SCHD. Each person on his or her own, but SCHD caused a lot of missed opportunities of a lifetime for many people. Currently I have a mix of FDVV, CGDV, JEPQ, others, and they are beating SCHD every month too, in total return.

    • @FundamentalsofFinance
      @FundamentalsofFinance  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah it invests in an area that's been very out of favor the last few years. There will be years where it's the opposite (like 2022) so that's why it makes sense to stay diversified. No need to buy schd though if you have fdvv and cgdv. Sounds like you're already diversified (at least within US equities) as those are also complements to your mag7 positions.

    All heavily invested in tobacco

    • @FundamentalsofFinance
      @FundamentalsofFinance  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah tobacco companies are value-oriented and pay high dividends so that makes sense.
      Fwiw when you invest in a company you are buying the shares from another person and that's where your money goes. Not to the company. Whether you buy a company's stock or not really doesn't have any impact on its operations. However, if you still feel the need to avoid tobacco in your investments, one fund you could look into is Calvert US large cap value responsible index fund. It does not invest in tobacco stocks.

      I'm taking a hybrid approach with VGT, SCHD, and VOO as my foundation over a 20-year horizon. I still enjoy life, travel, and buy what I love. It's the best combo, plus I enjoy the small victories of dividends, dividend growth, and share price appreciation.

      I can't give advice on this channel but pretty much no professional would ever endorse your whole retirement in any sector fund. Here's some food for thought. Yes tech has dominated all other sectors for the last 10 years. How many times in history do you think any sector has had the highest return over a 10yr period and then also had the highest return over the next 10 years? 0. It's never happened. So... could it the next 10 years? Yes it's technically possible. But would I personally bet my retirement on it? Most definitely not. Food for thought.

      First time for everything, you would be crazy to leave tech right now.. Look at what Hedge funds are buying right now ? PLTR,TSLA,Google, AAPL, AMZN ,NVDA,AVGO,EVEN MSTR!!! Times are changing and if you handle your own portfolio you need to adapt.
      The Ai boom is just getting started, and Quantum computing you are not getting any of that with SCHD I sold all my SCHD as soon as they got rid of AVGO! Turned it all into QQQM and my returns have blown up !
