  • Why in blue blazes is there a key to the sewers in the far end of the country? I put my bets on "cut content" but I'll be damned if I can pierce the logic sequence that leads you from a secret base in the sewers controlled by Ilithid to a dungeon cell in the ruins of a Red Dragon.
In any case, Ilithid can be cheesed in many a way, the easiest is to go invisible and cloudkill them while cackling like a madman. The tankier one would be to get a chaos commands and potion of genius , man up and take it.
Or we could be insanely overpowered and simply spit in their general direction. In any case, my first playthrough made me so paranoid of status effects that I kept 6 chaotic commands on my clerics at all times.
But then again, I also specialized Minsc in two handed weapons so , I'm far from being a good player at this game.

what's the point in keeping items like Carsomyr if you won't be able to use it anyway?

This just smacks of filler to me, especially with a character not able to wield Crom Faeyr. I agree with either the 'cut content' theory or else there was a story arc designed but not implemented and this piece 'forgotten.' Either way a buttload of XP for really a simple little section.
