Thank you! Check out the product links in the description if you're interested in buying wild rice. It's now become a staple ingredient in my pantry. I'm sure you'll love it, too! I'll be posting a yummy wild rice recipe to my IG soon
Thank you for this short documentary! My family and I have been picking wild rice for some years now, and might need to find a new processor, since where we go now may not be running in the next few years. I just reached out to Spirit Lake Native Farms in hopes that they process for private parties. I'll comment back if they do!
How nice that picking rice is a family tradition for y’all! That’s lovely. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Hope Spirit Lake works out for you!
@@ashlyncmorgan Sounds like Spirit Lake does process for private parties, so long as you bring at least 300 lbs. I'll plan to keep my current processor, but will keep Spirit Lake in mind for a second option! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing you knowledge. I am Native Am, and I know NOTHING about my peoples native food. Boarding schools! Our parenting our knowledge gone.😢
Best Rice in the World 💯 My mom makes a chicken, cream of mushroom wildrice hotdish that's always been my favorite. Sometimes add some venison and bacon
@@ashlyncmorgan nothing like hand harvested wild rice from the lakes, rivers and streams up here in northern Minnesota 77 years old now and it's still some of the best eating out there
I have taken an interest in this subject after perusing a wild edible book by Sam Thayer. I wish I could experience this for myself, but the next best thing is to watch your informative video. Thank you.
Wonderful video! But maiz (corn) 🌽 is also a cereal grain native to North America, so wild rice is not alone in being an important indegnous food grain.
Thanks for watching! In this case it's just a matter of semantics with North America being distinguished from Central and South America. But yes, corn is another culturally important food grain of the Americas 😊
It would be very interesting to see how it grows in Sri Lanka! Unfortunately I don't have any seed to send, and shipping overseas would require permits. But you can check out Everwilde Farms if you're interested in wild rice seed sellers.
Excellent documentary.
@@northernbackwoodsman263 thank you!
