HI CAYLA!! IT IS ALWAYS GREAT TO SEE YOU AND YOU ARE JUST SO BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY WAY!!! THAT IS SO COOL THAT THE COMPANY ASKED YOU TO DO A REVIEW ON ITS ITEM!! IT IS AMAZING HOW MUCH OUR RP IS SIMILAR. I PERSONALLY DON'T THING WEARABLE GLASES WOULD BE GOOD FOR ME EITHER NOW, BUT IF IT WAS A FEW YEARS AGO, THEN MAYBE. TAKE CARE AND I HOPE COLLEGE IS GOING WELL. SENDING YOU LOTS OF LOVE WITH A GREAT BIG HUG. SEE YOU IN THE NEXT VIDEO!!
Thank you Steven! It does seem like our vision is pretty similar. I wish these devices had been around longer so we could’ve tried them when our vision was better. School is going well, thank you for asking. It’s just keeping me very busy
Cayla you always do a really good job of explaining things. I often try to tell people but sometimes the matter how big you make something or how clear it gets it doesn’t always help with my ability to see it or be able to determine what it is. And your description of trying to find the right angle to look through so that your vision can be in the clearest was really good as well and that’s often something I have a hard time explaining to people in a way that makes sense to them.
A court of clockwork hallows thank you. Those are definitely things that are difficult to explain. Sometimes I think though no matter how well we explain something sighted people still won’t be able to understand
Hey Cayla! This is way too cool, I cannot see you but I am picturing you as someone from Star Wars. Great review, seems like an interesting product! Thank you :-) Matt
Hi Cayla. Thanks for your sharing. I'm studying in university and the disability service in my uni bought similar device for me. It's called Iris Vision. Since I lose mainly my central vision, the device works for me especially when I have to look at the projecter during lectures. I used to use a telescope for lectures but it only had a limited visual field and I couldn't wear glasses while using the telescope. Iris Vision provides a wide vision field and I can adjust the times/ focus according to my needs. However, I can only read very slowly as my vision is really poor now. It takes me a long time to recognise each word even through Iris Vision. Anyway, thanks for the technology that makes my life little bit easier.
Great video, I know it's not easy to review a product. I've been trying to make a video about my Orcam wearable device. It will be out soon but there's so much to know it's been a pain for me because I want to make a brutally honest review video. You did a fantastic job. Enjoyed the video
Hi Cayla, good to know and thank you so much for your review. I'm at the stage where my vision is starting to degrade so something that can read to me seems to make much more sense than a device like ths one or like the eSight which seems to try to maximise one's remaining vision. I'm at the poing where trying to read is it's own chore, then turning that information into something I can act upon is another chore entirely. Seems like I'm better off getting something that can read to me instead.
I totally agree! Reading is such a chore. Even a few years ago when I had a little bit better vision, trying to read with a magnifier or CCTV took so much effort. I almost prefer being more blind and not even having that option because it’s so much easier just to have things read to me
Hi Kayla, I think you did an excellent job of this devices review. You are so descriptive in both what you can see and how the device simulated vision for you particularly. I think that your current vision is so very similar to mine because I see shapes and shadows and my visual field is spotted, not symmetrical but very patchy. If the lighting and contrast is perfect, I can see where steps are or a bright white sidewalk against dark green grass and sometimes the bright crosswalk stripes at an intersection. But my view our vision is not predictable nor consistent so I never know when I will be able to see something or when I will not be able to see it. It is awesome that the company reached out to you for this review and again, you did an excellent job describing the function, features and your result. Thanks for sharing this because I Believe that you will reach, probably many of your subscribers who could potentially benefit from this device. I personally would like to place a guide dog harness in your hand and let you experience the freedom to walk independently and effectively and safely. And so far, I have not experienced any discriminatory behavior in the almost 2 years, working with my dog Gretchen. Anyway, I have found her to be my best tool, well my iPhone comes in at a close second but my iPhone doesn’t provide unconditional love. LOL. This was a great video with an excellent review once again and thank you for taking the time to explain this technology. Love Beverly
Thank you Beverly! I always appreciate your thoughtful comments so much. It does sound like our vision is almost exactly the same. That’s great that your guide dog is working out well for you and that you haven’t experienced any discrimination! I would honestly love to try it out just to see what it’s like
Cayla with a C hi Kayla, I wish so much that I could connect you with someone, anyone who has a guide dog just so you could get the sensation of what it is like to walk quickly, , Safely and independently with a guide dog. It truly might be worth looking into because I know you are working toward a professional career and potential parenthood and there might be some time that you could carve out or work into your future plans, to devote to the one month training program. I was in class at the Seeing Eye Institute with a young woman from California Who had just completed her Masters degree in social work and while she was in training, got the letter that she had passed her licensure exam so we all had a little celebration in her honor. She explained that after her graduate program and before her employment, she had planned for a while, to get her guy dog to enhance mobility. Anyway, I know with my current vision, I would not be doing half the things that I currently do independently. And the added bonus is that my dog Gretchen, a German Shepherd, is very, very protective and people since that as they greet us or pass us so she adds an element of perceived safety.. Sorry I have gone on and on once again but I do enjoy the dialogue with someone who shares similar vision issues. Take care, love Beverly
Bama Blind I do agree that it would probably be helpful once I’ve started my career and have children. I think I would definitely consider it at that point. I do think that carving out a month to attend the training would be the most difficult part.
Hi Cayla! Thank you for this detailed and serious review of the Acesight glasses. I also have RP, and have been attending conferences that feature technology aids for the visually impaired. Like you, I find limited utility in this (and similar) product, but I think these will improve very quickly to where they are easier to wear and use, and also provide more utility for people with significant peripheral vision loss under varying light conditions (both inside and outside). You should consider a job in sales. You are poised and articulate. Good luck.
OMG how did i not find you before fellow RP'er!! I had a quick question: how do you charge the acesight and can it be used while it is charging? Thanks!
I do not say that to discourage anyone from not you think of the bikes I'm sure for them it's going to work but for me personally it did not work out the way I wanted it for me
Yes I believe most of them are they need to find a way to make electronic glasses weigh less so they are not as heavy feeling when using them that would be great.😄
The ladies that work at the deli is a go to sometimes yell at me when I use my phone to zoom in on The menu. They say “what are you taking a picture of?!” I would love to see theit reaction wearing one of these things, LOL.
as a regular vr user this was interesting. $5000 is way to high. similar technology in vr headsets costs as low as $200. once ar glasses get lighter, better and more affordable i think they may help many with low vision. especially when using face and item recognition software, so even if you cant see it the glasses can tell you what or who your looking at. you should contact other companies about reviewing similar items. they should want to reach your subscribers.
@@CaylawithaC well there you are, good job. by the way the distance between your pupils is called ipd or interpupillary distance. mine is a 70. its important to know for my stuff.

Well I think these devices do really help some people. There is just so much variance among visually impaired people that they can’t make a one size fits all device because our vision is all so different

Hi! Thank you for your kind words! I do agree that I think these devices will improve as they are still a relatively new concept
Hi cayla my central vision is very blury and my pheriperal vision is almost normal. Do you think is it work for me? Thank you
That’s a good question, but I don’t know the answer. I’m sorry I wish I was more helpful
Great Job. Thank you for telling us about this device. I do appreciate your honestly in saying how it worked for you or how it didn't work for you.

Hi! There is a charger that plugs into the device, kind of like how you would charge your phone. I believe you can use it while it is charging
Would love to have one on these glasses just can’t afford it
They are pretty pricey. Hopefully they can become more affordable in the coming years
Hi I haven’t tried a device like that. I’ve used a CCTV before, and it was helpful to me. My dog and I loved your review. :-)
Thanks Amanda! If a CCTV was helpful for you then electronic glasses might be too
Cayla with a C That would be great if they did.
Try wearing the highest prescription glasses that you can buy.
Something like - 60 glasses
