    I'm originally from Ontario Canada, moved to Fort Worth Texas in 98 until I lost my husband to ALS, one of the fondest memories is traveling the foothill and smokey mountains (esp., pigeon forge and Gatlinburge), I am praying I will be able to revisit this special place...presently, I live between mountains and a beach within walking distance and flowing rivers, but nothing like these mountains, not sure why...maybe because l lived here most of my life...summers I call it gods country...winters are brutal..lol...I dream about buying a cabin near PF & GB, places we often visit feel like "home" a place where we belong, we feel it in our hearts....and that is how I feel in the smokey mountains...watching your videos brings me a piece of my future "home" if God willing I will be back, thank you for these journeys, keep up the great work

    I would've liked to have done that, but I was too busy yesterday to make the drive. The NPS timed that perfectly, with the fall colors popping like they are now. BTW, that bridge that wrapped around the side of the mtn reminds me of the Lynn Cove Viaduct around Grandfather Mtn on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. In fact, that was the missing link on the BRP that was finally opened in 1987. If you haven't hiked the trail underneath it already, do so.

    Is there any cool off trails with rock faces etc... i know the oringinal side had abunch of cliffs near lookout tower

    • @Cokie907
      @Cokie907 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      michael murphy There are a couple already. One is at the parking area in the middle of the Missing Link between Bridge #7 and #8. You can walk up to a “crow’s nest” that looks over Bridge #8 and into Tuckaleechee Cove. You are about 50-60’ above the parkway.

    If it was done you can get on to it at I40 BUT at this time they are NO more fund to build any more of it. Look on Goggle Maps and you can see just how the Parkway would run if they can ever get the funds to do it. If you have not been on the pave section it is a very good time.

      I agree that the rest of the "missing link" will likely never be built. I think the original plans cover about 71 miles and with this section now complete, there is about 33.5 miles open.

    Does this go from Cosby to I-40?. I will be there next week from Tampa, FL. It was 89 degrees here today, too hot for November!

      This section goes between US 321 at Wear's Valley and Walland, which is also SR 73 (Lamar Alexander Parkway). The Cosby to I-40 section (5.6 miles) has been open for nearly 50 years. The remainder of the road between Cosby and Wear's Valley has yet to be constructed other than the Spur and the By-Pass between Pigeon Forge and the National Park near Sugarlands.
