One thing I’d add to Aang is his creativity, he used air bending not as a skill but as a part of himself.

Aang is the only airbender that really embodies the essence of air in that he's mostly defensive and takes the path of least resistance. Both he and Zaheer really got the whole "freedom" of air, too, but like Iroh said, great power is overrated. Zaheer failed because of his ability to fly and because he detached himself from the world.
Jinora definitely does too.
No Zaheer failed because of Korra's plot armor plain and simple. Instead of murking Korra in a few seconds knowing she has friends that can jump in at any time, he all of a sudden decides to draw it out very out of character despite being efficient as hell up to that point.
We must to remember Zaaher had airbending for short period of time
Aang air bend is so natural to him and had the propper training to became the prodogy
Zaaher most incorporate his non-bending techniques to the air bending (like korra "fire" airbending)
If zaaher had more time and training in airbending, he should be the perfect airbender
@@wholesome_masochist4113uhh, Zaheer "drew it out" for the same reason Zhao did to Aang. Except Zaheer knew the weakness of the Avatar State due to his studies and Zhao didn't. Zaheer wanted to end the idea of rulers and leaders and killing Korra outright simply delays his ideals for another decade+

@@raze2012_ Yeah that I get, but the thing I mean is that what was stopping him from doing Korra the same way he did the Earth Queen? Especially since pretty much nobody had a defense to that, and I'm pretty sure there were no more avatars in the previous cycle to draw experience from. So once she got into the state, she could've been killed off in a few seconds like that is what I meant.
Honestly Aang in ATLA has way less airbending feats than Tenzin or Zaheer but he was probably way more skilled than either in his prime.

Also, he kept up with an enhanced Phoenix king Ozai, an insanely powerful fire bending master whose firebending rivals that of the Avatar state mostly due to his Airbending moves
No Aang is a 12 year-old legend. The skills and control he has with Airbending at 12. Producing Turnados.
Aang was able to defend himself so many times and hold the defense soo long against all the other elements dude u need to watch the show again

Man I cried when Jinora’s hood came down to show her tattoos and she looks like Aang. I cry every time
I believe you kinda missed one point about Gyatzo: his corpse was shown close to tens of dead fire nation soldiers, which means that he managed to kill an entire squadron of Comet-enhanced firebenders before dying
Without a single burn or scorch mark to be found in the surrounding area. He defeated them all before they were even able to generate an attack themselves

@@Aged_Onions prevailing theory is he did it on a much larger scale. Zaheer made a small orb of a vacuum around the Earth Queen’s head. Its possible Gyatso created a vacuum that encased the entire building they were in. Fire needs oxygen, there was no oxygen left in the room. Unfortunately he would also be in the centre of the vacuum himself
@@ethanquirk28 air bending could be much more destructive i think. i mean on an extreme end the shockwave of a nuclear blast and blow away MODERN skyscrapers. a powerful airbender could level a city. they could also make vacuums to create thunder so that they stun enemies
@@Aged_Onionsdefinitely could have been. And then there was the ideas fans threw around for sound bending. Can you imagine if Zaheer could sound bend and permanently deafen his opponents without being seen? That also screws up with your balance.
Airbending in something like Invincible's world would be scary.

The non-benders in the series deserve respect, they got heart for even trying. I still rewatch the Jet vs Aang fight to this day, he held his own.
All I’m saying is Avatar Kyoshi used airbending to legit push her entire island away from the mainland soooo
She did not use the avatar state to do that so yes that should count as a feat. She did use the avatar state to create the island though. But she was an incredible Airbender.
Kyoshi was just incredibly powerful. She had enormous amounts of chi even for an avatar

Personally I like the idea that Tenzin surpassed Aang in airbending as it was his sole element and one that Aang would teach him everything he knew which would give Tenzin an amazing base to build off of such as his air wheel.

aangs feats easily compare to tentin...but Aang was just 12 yrs old and lives anbother 50 to improve his bending
@@velociraptorgod110 Fax ,plus he used his air bending to enforce his strength as seen when hitting flying boulders , using bodies of air to knock whatever he wanted , you can see why they were targeted first in the war, all a bunch of loose cannons with immense flexibility in combat more so that the other forms as its all everyday use so always practiced.
🍃 I agree with this list 100% I would have added Avater Yangchin (Idk if thats correct) to the no air list. We didnt get to see her in action, but apparently she was one of the best airbenders ever.
Agreed. Luckily in the book, we get a glimpse of what was her air bending power "level". It's fascinating. As far as I could tell she had a voice like no one. I mean she used airbending to amplify her voice and if she was not carefull she could have made people deaf (or worse).
There are other feats she had done, but the first one is the unique and more interisting.
She could've easily take down Zaheer, soo she's in the legendary tier.
That one clip we see of her in the show where she’s using air bending on an entire forest is pretty cool. Seeing her fight would have been amazing
@@europ_everi_nice Also another feat of her's was when she was on the beach with deafening waves, Yangchen screamed at the ocean with her air bending creating a very long tunnel through the water, then being filled back in by the ocean. But just this feat alone makes her the most lethal air bender known.
Aang mastered all three elements in one year, feat only done once before by his predecessor avatar Wan. And he was only 12. Everybody talks about Azula or Toph or even Katara being really strong benders and prodigies but Aang beat them all simply with Airbending. A true bending master, and I truly believe no one has surpassed him yet.

Aang mastered only waterbending within the one year(aside airbending ofc). He wasn't a master in neither earth nor fire bending
I know you mentioned him towards the end but I think guru laghima deserved a spot on the ranking given his invention of flying, even if his lack of on screen, well anything, would put him in the not enough air category

great video as always! I think first place in the ranking is debatable, when we just go by what we've seen in the show , 12 year old Aang and not his later prime, Tenzins Airbending seems to be more powerful. I always thought when watching TLOK that its awesome to see what a fully trained prime Airbender that is Tenzin can do.
Tenzin might even be a better Airbender than prime non-avatar-state Aang, if you think about it; Aang had four elements to train in, while Tenzins entire life was airbending and he took it immensely seriously

@cloudwatcher608 Ehh, I think that might be a stretch. You could say the same of pretty much any airbender that has existed. Aang was just too naturally gifted. Even with his laidback attitude, he still got his tattoos at 12. With maturity, along with his pure talent, I would be very shocked if Tenzin approached his level.
I would honestly put Zaheer in the Prodigy or Masters because he himself was not as strong as other airbenders. He tends to fight those who are weaker than him, utilizing his skills more. Because when he was fighting Tenzin, flight or no flight, he was struggling. When he got his airbending powers out of nowhere, Zaheer started using it like a prodigy, without a teacher. His flying ability would make him go to master ranking for me.
Eh, even though he was losing to Tenzin, he was still putting up a decent fight.
That, plus his flight, makes him worthy of top tier imo
I think now Zaheer is strong enough to prison break or hire someone like dude with glasses in Zaofu to help him but now he is free from worldly concerns and he still gathering knowledge in spirit world
Zaheer is def worth of Legendary and without a doubt stronger than Tenzin. Yes he got folded by Tenzin before getting flight but with this ability Tenzin has zero chance against him... it's just too OP. The defense he gains results in him dodging every attack Tenzin does with ease and it would end up being a stamina fight which Zaheer would win low diff. Even Korra in the AS who was at her full power until she lost consciousness the first time struggled hard against him since Zaheer was able to dodge 99% of AS level attacks and even get hits in himself. Tenzin would've lost after 30 second AT MAX against S3 finale Korra. The only ones capable of defeating Zaheer are Bloodbenders and the Avatars.

Tenzin’s combative air bending is very satisfying to watch

Aang is definetly the best in airbending.He mastered it at 12 and relied on it for most fights, especially against Bumi, who was a GOD at earthbending. Since he taught Tenzin everything he knows, and we see such amazing feats, cant imagine what it would look like in Anng's prime. The sad thing is that because he was in that iceburg for 100 years, he wasn't able to live very long compared to the others
In what world is Korra higher than Jinora; Jinora was the youngest Air Bender to gain the title of Master, had the spiritual connection that all Air Benders strive for and was shown to posses unique abilities that not even Korra who was the Avatar could do.
Because this is about pure combat ability, and she hasn’t shown much of that

but a lot of that fight is spent in the avatar state so it isn't being taken into account

gyatso had feats, there's no way to justify him in the lowest tier. you see him surrounded by firebenders, taking down atleast 10.

One thing I had never imagined was how emotional Aang probably was when Tenzin first showed signs of airbending as a child - I wouldnt be surprised if he broke down in tears realizing that at that moment the Air nation may one day be restored.

I genuinely don’t think jinora deserved her tattoo’s , at least from what they showed she didn’t do much , yes she’s spiritually advanced but that’s about it , I wish we saw the 3 kids airbend more and come to their own as the next generation airbenders , they always felt like extra’s

There are a few airbending Techniques that are Highly forbidden in
Airbending like you use your voice to let people go deaf and then after that attack them and then they will be weak because they cant Hear anything or the Technique that yangchen and a Theory that monkey gyatso Used that Technique too but the Technique is that they took all the Wind in the room and Monk gyatso died because of suffication and the other firebender too but i have a theory that he User a Wind Schield and send it many times on the fire bender and they Fell but it makes no sense because how did monkey gyatso get burns on his body when you need Wind to bend the Elemant Fire
I mean with monkey gyatso made a schield that he did like meelo that round Wind schielt and shot it and they Fell those equelists
theory or no theory, Aang's mentor taking out a group of firebenders during Sozins comet is remarkable, and the fact his clothes aren't torched leads to believe whatever he did to take the people out around him took him out with it as well, as in, he didn't get hit by fire. My personal favorite version is where he wins the fight, and then meditates until his death because he took so many lives, tho there isn't a real reason that could be the case outside of my own desire to make that moment feel more spiritual.
I always loved the sweetly tragic reason for why the Air Nomads lost their ability to fly. Flight is something an air bender can only achieve when they detach themselves from the earth entirely on an emotional level. That kind of detachment was taught for generations among the early Air Nomads, but when they found the Sky Bison they lost their ability to fly because they each had something to attach them to the earth.

Gyatzo done so dirty. He was a legend in his time. Had the Yang Chen Air Bender necklace and everything. Definitely would've thrown hands against the LOK punks.

gyatso is #1 dude, during zosins comet the firebenders annihalted the airbenders, yet around gyatso´s corpse there were several firebender´s corpses too.

I think that number 1 goes to Zaheer. Throughout the series it becomes clear that peak performance (or power) is channelled by the bender's manifestation of the element's philosophy.
The ultimate manifestation of air philosophy is to elevate one's mind above the humane senses and detach from earthly binds.
Zaheer is the only person to have achieved such mastery above all the airbenders (if not all benders in general), and is able to use every aspect of airbending in absolute peak performance.
The only weakness of Zaheer is strict combat use of airbending. This exists because of his lack of formal training, as well as airbending's "true" nature not being combat oriented at all, unlike fire for example.
The most impressive thing, however, is that his absolute attunement with airbending philosophy comes directly from his personal values and lifestyle, whereas many air nomads that spent their whole life meditating and trying to attune with nature never even came close to this.
It will be way more fun if you include benders fighters with non-benders rating

I really, really, really hope we get to see gyatsos death I'm the Netflix show. You know, the scene where he takes out a room full of dozens of comet powered firebenders without even getting his robes burned. That was an awful lot of bodies. To me that implies that he sucked all the air out of that whole massive chamber to ko all of them at once, sacrificing himself at the same time. That would be the most extraordinary air bending feat in the entire franchise

Should rank after live action since they’ll show Gyatso bending. Unless you count it as separate canon. Or maybe do live action ranking.
I wish you would do a video of all the main girls. Toph, Korra, Azula, Asami, Hama, Suki, Katara, etc…That would take for god dang ever no doubt. Benders and non benders. Avatar has such good female characters. They are all multi dimensional and powerful and still ladies.

I'd argue Meelo is stronger than Ikki considering how he totally outshined her with not only an unconventional 💨💨 butt also very solid fighting style while being younger than her

In my Opinion Tenzin Is number one, Based on practically in combat. He can easly take down 3 members of red lotus and Zaheer if he didn"t think about His family and other new air bend on that situation. Aang is the avatar Himself and I think He have some previlage because He live with other nomad air benders which means He can more learn technic with other fellows air benders.
I'm sorry tenzin is not easily taking down the four red lotus members he literally got jumped by them. Has tenzin used his airbending to defend himself from a amp fire lord and a combustion bender head on no aang did. Has tenzin made a tornado by himself no aang did twice. Is tenzin capable of stopping a volcano on his own which roku couldn't do but aang did. Also aang was 12 when he did all these things while tenzin is in his prime.
I think that the moment Zaheer got flying he became better than Tenzin and Aang. Do you believe that either Tenzin or Aang could take the avatar state?

As much as I love Aang, I kinda feel like Zaheer and Tenzin might both beat him in an Airbending fight (unless it's adult Aang). Roku might also deck Korra.
For Opal, Kai and the 3 Kids, I'm not actually sure how I'd compare them to each other. I think Opal has the most power, Meelo has the most finesse, while Ikki & Kai are down the middle. Jinora is off in her own category.
Well how would you justify a child vs a full grown adult all masters. Aang in his prime would probably run circles around them both

@ashore8496 I don't think the could be aang in a airbending fight. Aang has made a tornado in a short amount of time to redirect bumi giant earth bending attack. Also his airbending is so strong that it was able to stop a volcano and was able to defend himself with airbending when an amp ozai attack him directly and his airbending was able to defend him from a combustion bender direct. Plus more I can name aang is schooling tenzin and zaheer in airbending

His fight with his bestfriend Bumi made me think Aang was the strongest airbender. The way he deflected that giant chunk of rock using air because he didn’t know how to earthbend at that time.

I think Monk Giatso suffocated the entire room including himself when he was found surrounded by fire benders. That might be why he wasn’t burned. He likely tops the list if we’d gotten to see it
After watching all of these, I'm curious as to why you decides to rank Wan with the same parameters as the other avatars.
Since he is the first, wouldn't his use of the elements while in the avatar state be a showcase of his skill alone?

I understand why you put Gyatso at No Air but an Airbender is only granted tattoos when they’ve reached Master Status.

I think that Gyatso was really strong, but although we don't actually see him, we can immagine his power by the fact he faced the fire army alone
