Was at that show. This is the truest and most personal song I think he’s given us. Hope he releases it soon, I wonder at times if he’s not ready to let it all the way out there yet.
I was there. Floor 4th row. Close enough to see the individual strings he played. This was BY FAR his best performance I’ve ever seen, even better than when I saw him the second night at MSG when he played Continuum from start to finish for the first time ever. And that’s saying something. We’re not going anywhere, John 👏🏻
@@SomeStratGuy Yeah I like that one too, he has a whole string of those but even more moody ones that he's reluctant to release, for whatever reason. But I feel that although I get that if you're not comfortable with a song you can't force it, but at this point in his carreer who cares...
Time and space and I'm out of place Don't recognize a single face By now I shoulda won the race But I haven't found a home It seems to me if you don't catch that vine And swing to the next tree branch in time The years add up and you fall behind And you're left to walk alone So I'm driftin and I'm driftin and I'm driftin And I'm driftin and I'm driftin and I'm driftin Meet a stranger, tag along, maybe smoke a cigarette all wrong Tell a story, sing a song, lay my head where it don't belong And somehow it occurs to me That out here on the deep blue sea There are other people drifting, too Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you Called my shrink the other day Forgot what I was gonna say So I lied and said I'd lost my way 'Cause I couldn't let him down Put my leather jacket on To play the part of Bad Boy John The brokenhearted vagabond Had wandered into town 'Cause I'm driftin and I'm driftin and I'm driftin Yeah, I'm driftin and driftin and driftin Meet a stranger, tag along, maybe smoke a cigarette all wrong Tell a story, sing a song, lay my head where it don't belong But somehow it occurs to me That out here on the deep blue sea There are other people drifting, too Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you I live for the moment 'til the moment is gone Lonesome is the road I'm travelling on I go where I want and I don't miss anyone 'Cause I'm driftin' Tryin' to write a story, but I'm stuck on a page God, it's been so long, can't remember my age I'm lost 'til the moment that I step on the stage 'Cause I'm driftin' And I'm driftin' Meet a stranger, tag along, maybe smoke a cigarette all wrong Tell a story, sing a song, lay my head where it don't belong Somehow it occurs to me That out here on the deep blue sea There are other people drifting, too Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you

He had a Moog EP-3 in the first show for his standing up rig, so I guess it's controlling a reverb vocal mix of some sort (?). I know he used the EP-3 with Dead and Co. controlling reverb, so I assume it's the same thing. Or maybe he is using to control some autotune or another vocal effect with the Eventide H90.
Well, it's not Gmaj.... so there's been several places where people are debating the subtleties of what he's actually doing, and HOW he's doing them... so go ahead and play it wrong with campfire chords @shankrl1
Use ear training and your knowledge of the fretboard to deduce what you can't see in the video. I don't control where John prefers his mic stand in relation to my seat ;)
Im still mad he never released that song he tease on IG once " the you i miss, does not exist", so i will not be bother to replay the song x100 so i get obsessed and then unhappy we have this quality of recording . Is a toxic relationship between JM and me, sorry.

Man this song sums up what I feel Good to know others out there feel it to
Let's hope he finally has the balls to release his more 'pensive' songs that we all love but are unreleased now!!
@@Everybodywantyou i hope that's not true. What an orrible thing for art
@@Everybodywantyou i highly doubt that’s the case
@@Ebidle I do to there’s many songs that are unreleased or he’s never done studio versions for. And they are a lot of people favorite.
I hope he finally releases "over and over" that sounded so good on cory Wong's podcast

I'd love him to do a whole album of new acoustic songs after this solo tour.
The man is a poet ....and that voice ...wow
I was there, I was in tears. This song aches, it _aches_.
POK
I was there too, awesome song and the whole concert was incredible!!!
Time and space and I'm out of place
Don't recognize a single face
By now I shoulda won the race
But I haven't found a home
It seems to me if you don't catch that vine
And swing to the next tree branch in time
The years add up and you fall behind
And you're left to walk alone
So I'm driftin and I'm driftin and I'm driftin
And I'm driftin and I'm driftin and I'm driftin
Meet a stranger, tag along, maybe smoke a cigarette all wrong
Tell a story, sing a song, lay my head where it don't belong
And somehow it occurs to me
That out here on the deep blue sea
There are other people drifting, too
Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you
Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you
Called my shrink the other day
Forgot what I was gonna say
So I lied and said I'd lost my way
'Cause I couldn't let him down
Put my leather jacket on
To play the part of Bad Boy John
The brokenhearted vagabond
Had wandered into town
'Cause I'm driftin and I'm driftin and I'm driftin
Yeah, I'm driftin and driftin and driftin
Meet a stranger, tag along, maybe smoke a cigarette all wrong
Tell a story, sing a song, lay my head where it don't belong
But somehow it occurs to me
That out here on the deep blue sea
There are other people drifting, too
Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you
Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you
I live for the moment 'til the moment is gone
Lonesome is the road I'm travelling on
I go where I want and I don't miss anyone
'Cause I'm driftin'
Tryin' to write a story, but I'm stuck on a page
God, it's been so long, can't remember my age
I'm lost 'til the moment that I step on the stage
'Cause I'm driftin'
And I'm driftin'
Meet a stranger, tag along, maybe smoke a cigarette all wrong
Tell a story, sing a song, lay my head where it don't belong
Somehow it occurs to me
That out here on the deep blue sea
There are other people drifting, too
Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you
Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you
Maybe someday, baby, I'll drift into you
Right in the feels 💔
This man is a treasure. The last guitar hero
Dont agree with the second statement. There are a lot of new guitar heroes

So raw and completely beautiful ❤❤
hermosa cancion!!!
He better release this song
So cool that he sang “wherever I go” over the Something’s Missing outro.
This song! So beautiful
Love him even more w this song 😢

A different model of Martin. That's interesting.
Anyone know what he is activating at 1:12? I saw that at the other performance as well, but I don't notice anything sonically changing...
No idea but any plans to do a video on this version as well? The last one was great!
@@joelacroix6224 Thx you! Maybe as an add on, this one gives a better angle... but I think I am mostly right on the chord progression :)
some sort of voice compression or autotune for the high falsetto?

@@omarsaletovicprins9632 Yea that would make sense, falsetto is often a bit less loud than the chest register...
🤯
John went full Dave Matthews in this one
Well hello there, Hotel Bathroom Song.
don't delete this video please
Is every camera man on the planet trained to put something in front of his chord hand to block what he's doing??
Em7, Cmaj, Gmaj variations, Dmaj over F#

You can hear the Tom Petty and Bob Dylan influence.
I like the other version better….
More nerves the first time. More authentic. To be expected.
Same
It’s basically the same

What is the name of the song ?
Terrible acoustics in this venue. So much echo, it’s impossible to understand him.
Would be nice to hear John leading worship at a church once he realizes he needs Jesus.
Amen to that ❤️

oh god..... 🙄
He doesn't.
Nah lol. He shreds way too hard.
So... it's gonna be one more of "those" albums. Continuum will most likely go down as his last good album.
