Saw this for the first time coming back for the holidays when I was in college. A bus trip on a snowy December day from Boston to NYC (then on to NJ).
The driver put this tape in-yes, a VHS tape-and the monitors in the bus played this on the two tiny screens, one in front above the driver's head mounted on the ceiling and one halfway back. I was toward the back so I could see that one. (Not the best way to watch a movie).
By the end of the trip, the entire bus was all laughing and enjoying the film together. It was like we were living out a real classic Hollywood movie moment, when everyone comes together and shares a magical moment, right out of Frank Capra.
Leaving Boston, a bus full of strangers, everyone in their own world of thoughts, worries. No one conversing. Just silence and the sounds of solitary people in a hurry but forced to endure a long ride.
But by the end of the trip, after watching the movie together and laughing and sharing the funny moments and the sad ones, we were saying goodbye and hugging each other like we were best of friends or favorite relatives.
It was amazing. A true Christmas moment. The best part: The driver, a giant of a man, African American and looked like he could rip your head off, was laughing his own head off at the movie's funny moments, even though he couldn't see the screen at all.
Finally he said, over the speaker that he had seen it many, many times and remembered every scene. He even started to talk about an upcoming scene, until we had to yell, "Quiet! Don't give it away!" And he'd apologize and laugh and laugh and then do again. Hilarious.
I'll never forget it.
That's a great story! I didn't know things like that happen in real life!
This is such a happy feel good film...i love it and watch it every Christmas !!!
I love these classic black and white Christmas movies. They have this wholesome holiday feel about them.

Love the actor's. Barbara Stanwyck is such a fine actress. Love their characters, and this movie just gives you such a warm feeling. That was the Golden Era.

I saw it again last night on TCM. All time favorite. The characters just accept every situation without questions. Like no one asks where is the baby's crib, why Barbara S doesn't know the baby's name or gender, how could a baby swallow a big pocket watch. We never get to see Uncle Felix make Christmas dinner. And why her boyfriend , an architect, has no dining room in such a big house. They all eat in the kitchen. But I will watch anytime it's on.

Does Barbara Stanwyk get out of a taxi cab and ice skate on a small frozen pond in this film? Been trying to track down that scene for a long time but don't know which film it's in.
@@myapinion7532 No skating scene in "Christmas in Connecticut." Cannot recall her ice skating in any of her films I've seen, but I haven't seen them all.
@@lnl3237 Aw right. I didn't think it was this film as don't think l've ever seen it, although l'd love to. It could have been June Allyson from The Glenn Miller Story, she has a similar appearance (or hair style at least). Ok, thankyou so much for your reply.
