I only live 10 minutes from Cleveland, no excuse really for not ever visiting Straddie except that Qld is full of amazing spots. You've inspired me, booking a barge now. 😀
Then my Job is Done - HAHA :) Lovely to see I have inspired you but I know what your saying. I've lived in Brissy for 20 years and it took me until last year to visit Straddie for the first time ( now I've been there twice) - You should check out the other beach camping video. Actually would have been there in March 2020, but that got canned with the world shutting down. So many different things to do there and loved visiting... The beaches are so crystal clear ( as long as you don't go after heavy rain). I have day trip option for you, if you don't want to organise you own trip ...Just let me know :)
Hey Senja, hows it going over there in Bali. Thanks for stopping by today. the water was great all over the Island, we didn't spend much time at Amity, but maybe when we go back
[We~FeelFriends🐢] It's just an amazing island, plenty of places to look around and things to enjoy, So natural and beautiful surroundings Thank you for letting me know about there, Have a wonderful weekend and see you~~
It should be at the top of everyone's l8st who visit the area. I have l8ved so close for a long time, but only visited recently So glad I did.... thanks a bunch for the comment and watching this week's addition 😁👍
I had so much drone footage to go through. Was able to get heaps over on the island for this visit and some really great weather. Really appreciate you stopping by to watch this week's addition and glad you liked it. Thanks 😁👍
Omg..that's so sad you missed brown lake...it was one of my favorite spots to swim...just chilling in the floaties. I think I might make a separate video of it eventually. Why was it closed?
Thanks for watching guys...So glad you liked it. North Stradbroke Island was really big and will need some extra time to discover more of it next time.
This is an awesome little island! It reminds me of Catalina Island here in California. Except as with everything else, the Australian island is way prettier! We are hoping to do a Catalina video in the next few months.
Hey guys...sounds like Catalina is a spot I might like to visit one day. Can't wait to see you videos from that one. How's your holiday going over in Hawaii...are you having fun?
@@AquariusTraveller it was wonderful! Too short but we wanted to be able to take a holiday later in the year too so we kept it short, sweet and busy! Lol! Working on all that content now...
Whoa! That’s so cool that it’s the worlds second largest sand island. The water at Amity point looks so beautiful! Great drone footage 😍 I like the resort that you stayed in! Sometimes it’s nice to book a hotel every once in awhile especially if you camp a lot lol! The gorge walk is so beautiful - I’d definitely love to visit during the whale season. So jealous you went swimming with sharks and rays! I’ve always wanted to do that 😃 beach driving is sooo cool. It’s not really that common on the east coast of the United States but we saw people do it all the time when we lived on the west coast. Brown lake is a very fitting name for that lake! I remember seeing some drone footage from that lake on your IG! SO cool 👍 this is such a great travel guide! I definitely want to visit that island when I come to Australia 👏👏
We do stay in cabins and cheaper places a lot more than camping. The camping is great when you have to get an off beat place you need to get to, but will Always opt for cheap hotels or cabins. 😜🤣🤣
You guys should be diving over in Mexico while your there...I've done some of my best diving there. Around July August you will have the whale shark migration season come through and you will get boats off playa del Carmen n Cancun mostly...but better if you stay on Isla Mujeres
The island does have so much to offer and can't believe it took me so long to get there. I was booked last March but cancelled with the world shutting down. Thanks a bunch for stopping by to watch today and hope you guys are doing well over there 😁👍💖
Thanks for all the replies! Yes I wanted to dive here but once we left the Yucatán Peninsula we kind of just put it on the back burner. Definitely going to do it next time we’re in the Cancun area 😄 I’ll definitely want to book you as my guide when I visit Australia! 🙏
Wow this island is awesome. I can't believe this is the first time I've heard of it. There are opportunities to do so many cool things that we've never done here! We would love sledding down the sand dunes, diving with the manta rays, leopard sharks, and that awesome looking eel thing! We've also never been to a beach that you can drive on before and would love to experience that. Is there a speed limit on the beaches? The beaches really seem to stretch on forever and seem to be so secluded. I feel like a lot of people would be hesitant to swim in a brown lake, but we have them here in Florida too, so we would gladly join you. Overall, looks like an amazing place to spend a few days exploring!
It is an awesome island to explore for sure. That eel is called a Moray, they come in a few different colours and sizes, he was very pretty and sold that footage to someone ages ago.
What? You don't have beaches you can drive on? We have plenty and the reason why a lot of campers buy four wheel drives, to do the off beat camping along the beach they have just driven. No speed limit that I'm aware of, but guessing probably the same as the highways. although you do need to consider sand changes and if you going too fast, you might go air born over a sand hump or get caught in a ditch...you never know. Exercising general safety for you and others around you
I must admit, I was a little hesitant to swim in brown lake, it does look dirty. You still fresh water and was pretty cool floating around. Not sure about swimming in general, unless you close to the shore. I don't like touching the bottom unless I can see it...lol
I live and have grown up on Straddie and it has my heart. Videos just don't do it justice. I've travelled a fair bit, but nothing beats the clear blue water and the amount of wildlife on Straddie! I live at Point Lookout, but often head to Amity to watch sunset and see the dolphins. Wouldn't recommend swimming there though, even in the shark protected areas, as sharks have been known to get through the nets 😬. My favourite spot is Deadman's beach. Beautiful water and have been lucky enough to swim with dolphins in the waves. Have also seen whales metres away from the wave break. During their migration season, it is difficult not to spot at least one each time you skim the water. I also love Cylinder, although it does get busy in the school holidays and weekends. South Gorge is also a great spot, especially on clear days when the water i stunningly clear. The Gorge Walk is a must do if you're visiting! If you are able to, please take a moment to sign this petition to allow the Aboriginal People to keep their lands (including the Gorge walk) protected: www.change.org/p/peter-mitchell-councillor-division-2-save-point-lookout-headland
WOW! Great mix of aerial, ground, and H20 in this beaut, Chris! Did you get a new camera? A number of clips were super clear and crisp. Happy Sunday! Excellent work on this edit...loved all the opportunities you had to send the drone up. Cheers!
Hey Nate, thanks so much for finding the time to get through this long one. I was really happy with how it turned out and so much variety of footage I could introduce. I didn't dive this time, But have heaps of Diving footage from prior trips over the years. No New camera, which ones are you referring to. Maybe it was just a really clear day and made the video better...LOL Happy Sunday and hope you enjoying the rest of your weekend :)
@@AquariusTraveller Haha! It was a longie. 😉 Car ride in was super clear as well as some of the ground footage. You had a bit of “fish eye” going on with the GoPro...is there a Dewarp setting (or similar)? Proof that the world is round. 😉 🥂
@@nategordon sounds like it was all the gopro footage, otherwise I use my olympus(if it's not that close and I need the zoom). The warping is a gopro thing and not aware of any setting to change that. I suppose if you took it off Wide angle, as it's really wide - Helps when videoing yourself and not knowing where to point.
Stradbroke Island was once ,a quiet gateway, until we got invaded, but lots of irresponsible, rude people, leaving rubbish, and destroying the once pristine ambience, and have little regard for locals, just stay away,
