Yeah it’s still got years left though, plus I have a one time “take the panels down” for free soooo I’ll use it when it’s time plus to replace the roof is a lot of money aswell so I have to save money before I can do that using the panels 😂
And the best way to install solar . Is do it yourself. Do it as a kit off of eBay or amazon. Pull the breaker off of one room in your house. Connect solar system to that room. Then add on a set of panels as time goes on
@@MannysWorld Even if you replaced the roof with new shingles the panels will outlive them by 10 or more years. Only way I'd install solar is on top of steel or aluminum roofing that is 40+ year lifespan. Sure, you pay double if not more but it pays for itself in the long run especially but you won't have to uninstall and then hope the roofers re-install it properly, be forced to pay for another install, or DIY.
In some states you need to have a new electric meter installed to recognize your solar production. Otherwise some standard meters will wrongly think the power you are producing is extra power you are *using* so your bill goes up instead of down. Research any company carefully and don’t trust door to door salespeople.

First thing everyone should know... don’t ever buy from anyone who comes to your house. This usually happens to the elderly. Reputable companies have people going to and calling them. I'm sorry about the crappy situation, but it's really crazy and awesome to see you stay so positive, especially in the comments. This is exactly why you should do some research before making a big purchase like this. Sounds like you made an impulse buy. Happens to the best of us. Glad you got it all fixed right. Great info.
Solar is really NOT a big purchase... I had a HUGE system with top end batteries, VERY good 350 watt solar panels, Xantrex top of the line inverter, Vitron Charge Controllers, etc.. grand total with install was less than $7,000... HIGH end pieces.. ONE panel would generate 20 DC amps at 12v thru the victron controller. I ran 2 old marine split AC systems on my boat with strictly solar. NO cord.. Anyone falling for these programs needs to help educate the public as this stuff has become super rampant!! Solar is CHEEEEEEEAP!!! Your power companies have shit in place to prevent these companies from installing more solar than you actually use. The power companies WILL NOT buy back power from you. They will NOT stop billing you unless you get a completely self sufficient system and literally have the power lines disconnected from your home. You can set up a grid tie system and feed plenty of power back to the grid, but they will still bill you EVERY fee they can bill you for.
Unfortunately, this is absolutely the norm in the current industry. Also, they probably didn't tell you about the 30% credit because they take that for themselves (in order to give you a "lower" price). That's how I've seen a lot of contracts done.
It's good that you put this video out. But what I like most is how good your attitude is about how poorly your install was. Good luck with your new install.
You screwed up. I bought and installed 5000 watts of solar panels and wired a 240 volt split phase inverter for 2000 dollars. Its my system and i run the house during tbe day free. Light bill went drom 280 to 70
Wow ,I hope killowatts gave you your money back..In the UK if solar is installed by a company and you dont actually own the panels, you dont get the feed in tarrif but you dont pay for the panels either, they are sort of renting your roof surface and you just get reduced electric bills .. The biggest downer to me with having solar panels is , if they are grid tied which a lot are in the UK because solar battery storage is so new and expensive, when the grid is out, so are the solar panels. I believe thats the same everywhere due to safety. Knowing that, if we ever get them, it will be with off grid storage only.
I have a solar PPA through Vivint Solar. Been with them for 20 months now and everything is great. Firstly, I had a new roof installed a couple of years prior to even thinking about solar, so that worked out good for me. You want a new roof. If you have an older roof and it needs to be replaced, the solar company will remove and store the panels for you at a cost of $500 from you. Better to have a newer roof from the start. Next step, I contacted Vivint after asking a neighbor with solar who they use and how they like it. Vivint didn't come around knocking on doors. I contacted them. Before even getting back to me, I noticed an unknown vehicle (I live on a small, quiet street) in front of my house a few days off and on. Turns out it was a rep from Vivint, merely checking the orientation of my roof in relation to the sun, and that the roof was clear from trees which would cause shade on the panels. A few days later, the rep got in touch and we talked about the whole process, etc. Next step, after agreeing to use their service and signing the 20 year contract, a crew from Vivint came and gave me all new electric service from the street to my home to a new circuit-breaker panel box, also upgrading my electricity from 60 amps to 100 amps to make sure the solar panels worked to optimum performance, and finally (and this is important), installation of a new Net Meter. That meter goes backward and forward, and the "net" kWh reading at the end of the month is how your regular electric company calculates your bill. In my case, more than not, I get a credit. Those credits roll over and keep adding up until I use them in fall and winter. Not a cent from me. Next step, installation of solar panels and about a month to wait for being allowed to operate after getting inspections and final approval. Known as PTO (Permission To Operate) In the 20 months that I've been operating, I've only paid to Vivint Solar the amount of the agreed upon kWh rate multiplied by the amount of kWhs created by the sun. Not a penny more. After 6 years, I'll be offered to buy the system outright. I've already calculated (based on one year of production, factoring in annual increases) how much I'll pay them for years 7-20, so I already know if I'll get a good deal to buy the panels outright or just keep the contract. 20 months in and I can tell you I'm thoroughly satisfied with my experience, and I love being green! I drive a plug-in hybrid car and the electricity used to charge the car ultimately comes from the sun. I call it a solar-powered car. Long story short, don't buy into a contract from a door-to-door salesman. Do some research. Talk to neighbors who have solar panels. Get their input. And I can't stress enough, have a good roof before you install panels.
never go through a company . learn to do it yourself , it will cost you a fraction of the price . I have been sizing and buying every element of the system myself . instead of paying 20k I am paying 4k $ do it yourself its not as hard as you think . took me 3 weeks to learn and find the different components at a good price , I actually enjoyed it once I understood .
This is exactly why I decided to buy my panels and a wind turbine and everything to hook it all up and have done enough studies to hook it all up myself off grid.
Basic rule of thumb. If someone takes the time & effort to call on you at home, or at work, or they pay to set up a stand at a mall. You will be paying way more than if you spent 10 minutes doing research. That applies to any product or service.
If the panels are not installed and wired "correctly" and they are not "electrically isolated" from your regular electrical "service" and are not used to generate and store electricity as DC which can be directly used to power DC "appliances" or AC "inverters" that operate "dedicated" and again "electrically isolated" circuits not connected to the "grid" at all, your "solar generators" and "inverters" and other components needed to "tie in" its "output" to your existing service and the "grid" can actually INCREASE YOUR ELECTRICITY "USAGE" and/or "reduce" your "usage" to a level where there is no "volume discount" and you're billed a "flat fee" which when added to other fees and utilities can INCREASE your "electricity bill". i suggest you get a battery bank..... disconnect the solar from the grid. get your bill back to the regular rate.... hook up new wires in your home to run lights and fans. only use electric company electricity to run high consumption items like a/c or heat or your stove or your clothes dryer.
The roof does look seriously "iffy" -- The Solar City/Tesla folk would have insisted on a new one because you are going to have to remove ALL the solar stuff for a roof replacement.. then a new install again. I'm looking at a large installation here.. with a 20-30kw generation here.. with a large battery...but the design is going to take me a few months.
This dude got scammed so hard by a fraudulent door-to-door salesman it's sad because there's a lot of good solar installs out there but this guy was a victim of a scam artist not to be equated with an actual reputable solar provider.
The one I'm going with gets paid by the government for installs. I researched them thoroughly, knew exactly what they were recommending and can read contracts.
I agree, that Comp looks about 3 years from a failure. Also the 30% tax credit the salesman spoke of is not a guarantee and should never be sold as such. I agree they a lease is not the best solution. However if you secure a 0 escalator and have no tax appetite then a lease would potentially be your best solution.
You can get scammed even when buying a car. Gotta make a little research my friend. Just cause you got scammed that doesnt mean solar pannel dont work. They do
Great video. When you build your van out, definitely do solar. I recomend solar that is not connected to the roof. Have an external panel that you can place away from the van but still park in the shade. If you do a roof mount you will always be parked in the sun. The key is having the right batteries. The best panels are no good with out the right batteries and a good inverter.
A lease is the worst way to go solar. Power Purchase Agreement next worst, Solar loan may be ok but paying cash is by far the best way. If you have cheap power solar does not pay well. If you are paying less than 20 cents /kWH you should be very careful figuring your ROI.
@@MannysWorld How much was it and how large of a system did you get? I can put a system like yours on my home with micro inverters for about $2.20/watt.
For starters, that is the shabbiest roof and those tiles have got to be 50+ years old! They should have been replaced before any panels were installed. I bought and installed my own solar panels, paid cash, and they paid for themselves in 2 years. I took my time and did the install right, no leaks, no leaves, no wire problems, nothing and I haven't had an electric bill in nearly 3 years. Yes, solar panels are wonderful but avoid leases and install them yourself, if you can.
Thats awesome!!!! So rad to here. Here in LA you need to get a permit and the solar companies came after the homeowners so I made this video for most people that this happened to. Happy you are solar and happy
@@MannysWorld Thanks Manny and sorry about the dumb comment as I was mostly referring to the quality of the shingles, which are pretty bad to put panels on and the quality of the install, which is clearly very poor. I've worked in solar for many years and have never seen such a poor instal as you got and have ardently taught against solar leases as they're a rip off! I much prefer a low-interest loan or pay cash and I can't stand solar contractors who charge a mint to install a system as it doesn't take much, it's really easy, definitely not worth charging $10k+ to install. Wholesale solar equipment only costs ~$1/Watt and it looks like you have a 2kW system, which should have cost: $2k, plus ~$2k for profit and install. I'm sure your system price was much, much higher than this, which I agree, is a rip off. Best of luck with your re-installed system.
Since you are/were in a lease what ever happened? Was the lease terminated? I want to do an off grid system about this size but thinking of ground mounting a 3 to 5 kw array for now.
Did you get an inspection done? because in my state my panels aren't allowed to be activated until it passes an inspection to verify it's up to code, there is no way that old system would have passed
This is an ISOLATED issue. In Ontario we had incentive offered by IESO and i had locked in rate for 20 years and currently i am making 3850 per year (from roof) + - depending on sun, my investment will be paid off by 5.5 years. Rest of the 14.5 years i will be making 55k . We had replaced the roof before installing panels. Now that incentive is gone. Still Net Zero is offered even if you calculate it can be paid off in 9 years and with rate increase one can still make it work. Hire Right People and get job done right solar is still the way to go. feel bad about this guy he did not do his part well. Some one scammed him does not make ALL Solar business look bad.
I'm a sales representative For meraki energy solutions in FL And yes you need to be Careful in researching what company you're having put panels on your house and what their goal is some companies just want to make a profit some companies are actually there to help you . For example We don't have an issue with our customers being unhappy with what we do for them The hardest part for us is actually trying to convince people that we're just trying to save them money on their electric bill our company offers more of a bill swap not another bill added on to the bill you already pay
Wait so you didn't explain what happened. I thought you were stuck in a 30-year contract and you couldn't get out because they can put a lien on your house. Do you still have to pay them what's going on with that? Explain.
And that's why I love my job I get to fix all these jobs like your house everyday I've scene 1000 of jbox full of water ..most the time the inspector in Los Angeles don't even go on the roof so all these 3rd party contractors get jobs and ruin people's home those solar flashings are not even flashed right I go 2 shingles under and cut around the solar stanchion that way less flashing is exposed on the roof allways seal the flashing with a upside down smile face so if water goes three it doesn't hit the solar penetration and seal aswell the penetration ..if I went to your house I would first inform u they shouldn't have installed solar on your old roof I can see fiber from the video
Yeah I feel you! It just cost a lot of money to reroof it and it still has time so first Ima save money with the solar and then redo the roof. I have a “1 time take down” for free so I’ll use it then
MannysWorld I hope you know in California your only allowed to go 70 percent of your electric bill and the reason you get charge a annual fee it's called a service fee that Edison or DWP even with micro inverters your still tied to the grid because it's a AC system and u need 240v to operate the micro inverter I wish I can help you out cuz your good people and good people don't deserve this
Yeah I’m slowly learning about it as I go, I know I’m still on the grid! The goal is to over generate enough solar so it generate into the “reserve account” and pays the bill completely. I put anywhere from 1,500 kw to when using the power with ac in the summer a little in ser 3,000. The unit is 7,000 kw. Thoughts?
MannysWorld do you have a battery back up the thing with solar is the energy company will never let it grow see when ur meter spins to the left meaning back feeding to the grid they buy that power for cents and sell it for more you do earn like credits from the energy company which u use during the night so with a battery bank u store all that power u sell them and u use it towards your home did the new company u went with take suneye of where they are going to install the new panels
Sounds like a class action suit is coming. You have a lot of reasons to look into it. I think a whole lot of people who got scammed across the country would also appreciate getting their solar deals looked into. There are probably law firms looking to represent you and other people who might have been scammed as well. You made the video, look for a reputable attorney to represent you. Fight back Manny !
A true up bill is a year’s worth of energy consumed beyond what the solar produced. EVERYONE will have one. Included in that is a $10/ month connection fee and there are fees that come with the ebb and flow of energy back flowed to the grid.
When companies first started doing mass solar installations (circa 2012) like solar city. I knew in the future they would have to be renovated again. Luckily manny caught some of it and nipped it in the bud “Did it right and took care of the stuff.” We just working, researching, reading, doing it! Skating,
Typical people making choices base on feelings. "Safe the world", "good for the environment". What people should be asking is how is this going to safe me money or make my house efficient.
i know this old but those shingles are hit i hate roofing but i would do that first just to not have to take it down again..valley looked ruff but all love wish solar panels were more of a thing in the midwest
Also unlike most companies meraki encourages our costumers to compare us and what we can do to other companies and they can never do better than us but that's bc we are an energy solutions company that uses the NET metering program which btw was created and fine tuned by our military bases(ps- everyone already pays a net meter fee in their electric bill they just aren't aware)
Tesla pwr walls are proprietary "installed" systems (AND has a lot of good points). With that said... There is some grapevine that Tesla can access your system and turn you off at their will. For a myriad of other reasons, I'll avoid a Tesla system.

I’ve worked for solar company for years. But yet with any company yea it’s all about money. Sucks. Cuz it’s always about rushing ther employees, they all push them to do ONE DAY jobs so they make more money. You can’t rush that shit. They’ll realize it an ther company will fail. Glad ur up ther helping an being real g! That’s the only way you’ll get anything good from it.
Residential solar has always been a bad idea. Makes more "cents" to make your house more efficient, or add solar hot water and geothermal systems to reduce ac use.
Feel bad for you...but that is why you research before making this kind of decisions......So I just did it myself...no extra payments and saving over 150 bucks a month.....
@@MannysWorld Oh man dude I fear for you because you are moving way too fast on this. That other company is likely to drag you into court and say that you didn't give them a chance to fix the problems. i'm about to go solar and not signing anything that says they can take my house or put a lean against it. its going to say we put it in and its going to work right with no leaks and save me money. i will pay you them for one year if it saves me money i will pay it off if not they can come get it.
So when the customer get solar panels and he didnt qualify to get the 30% federal taxes, the customer don't get nothing, but the solar company keep the 30% federal taxes? Do I am right?

Poor fella shoulda googled solar panel stuff for like two months before making the commitment to buy from that contractor. There are many folks (in Texas) who are benefiting from the savings and independence.
Rent your electricity from Utility companies and never own it OR own your electricity. Purchase your solar, don't do leases or PPA's. How much have we given our utility companies to rent that electricity? No different than your cable box.
Look at your roof dude. You should have reroofed prior to installing. your going to have to remove the panels when you reroof. READ AND UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN.
Signing a contract on the door offers always a chance to cancel for 14 days - at least in Germany. And who buys from a guy on the door the first offer you ever got ?
Solar is such a scam based business. It’s really sad. Here in 2021 you shouldn’t sign a lease on solar (it’s just a bad idea). It’s recommended to purchase them if anything but even then DO NOT pay more than $3/watt for the entire installed system cost before federal tax credit. You can get multiple solar quotes from energy sage dot com.
Lol if you're paying for those panels, you own them, so take the cables attach them in a 24v/48v configuration, buy a corresponding 24v or 48v grid tie inverter attach to your plug socket see 100% of the solar profit an see your electric bill go way down.
Solar panels are not worth it. They can damage your roof and the cost of solar plus electric bills was higher than paying just for electric bill. That happened to me.
*I'd been more interested in a new roof than some problem child solar panels if I was this dude. Got my roof done for free on my 2 story house and my shed.*
That sucks you got scammed and holy shit did they mess up a lot installing it. Weird looking solar panels to, never seen any like those. Awesome video and congrats on winning botc man.
Many solar panels are polycrystaline...these are monocrystaline. Supposedly a tad better, but in our experience, (I live in an off-grid community), it can be better to just get an extra panel or two.
Thanks for the info homie. Sorry I had to go through all that... I always felt this was a scam. Everything feels like a scam these days. I feel like unless you become somewhat of an expert at it yourself it’s hard not to get ripped off lol
"Once you get solar you eliminate electricity completely?" I'm afraid that's not correct. In a grid tied situation, most electric companies will limit the size you can install. It's what they call an 80% offset or even %120. Whatever the case, that system will never produce enough in the high demand months to cover the use.
That roof is a hot mess. Not a single thing should have been installed up there until you resurfaced the roof.
Yeah it’s still got years left though, plus I have a one time “take the panels down” for free soooo I’ll use it when it’s time plus to replace the roof is a lot of money aswell so I have to save money before I can do that using the panels 😂

Good luck with your solar my American friend ....rob
In Australia you have a 10 day opt out when they cold call like this
I'm sorry about the crappy situation, but it's really crazy and awesome to see you stay so positive, especially in the comments. I dont understand how you stay so nice and chill with people being rude in the comments, on top of getting the short end of the stick with the installation the first time. Either way I'm proud, keep up the positivity, and the dope street shredding🤙
I’m a Solar installer, before you install panels you need a RE-ROOF. You need new shingles.
Yeah I have to do that soon
Why would you need a new roof? The panels will act as protection to the weather.
@@joeshmoe781 What about the exposed shingle just above the panel? Water is still going to go under the panels.
I appreciate your realness and learning from your mistake. Peace Brah

This is exactly why you should do some research before making a big purchase like this. Sounds like you made an impulse buy. Happens to the best of us. Glad you got it all fixed right. Great info.
Yeah they just got me on a off day, I was putting them off for ever haha
Hes in a lease, you don't get the 30% if you lease
Crazy because the profit on the installment is so much and the fact that they want the 30% is wild
@@MannysWorld Otherwise, your price would be 30% higher, and they wouldn't be able to compete with the guys taking the 30%.
It's good that you put this video out. But what I like most is how good your attitude is about how poorly your install was. Good luck with your new install.
Thank you! Make sure to share it so people can learn
Ahh man you can't fall for that door to door shit. You gotta do your research, especially if its major home renovation.
Yeah they just got me on a bad day
You screwed up. I bought and installed 5000 watts of solar panels and wired a 240 volt split phase inverter for 2000 dollars. Its my system and i run the house during tbe day free. Light bill went drom 280 to 70
Amazing!!!!
Dam that some dodgy shit right there. Are you even licensed?
@@chefgav1 - Yeah most states require installation by a "Licensed Professional" to be grid tied. Most people don't realize this.
Yeah it’s the same everywhere and also city codes and the rules. They set us up to fail
Known as PTO (Permission To Operate)
In the 20 months that I've been operating, I've only paid to Vivint Solar the amount of the agreed upon kWh rate multiplied by the amount of kWhs created by the sun.
AWESOME!
That's why you build a system yourself and not counting on greedy sketchy companies.
Facts or do more research
ESPECIALLY WHEN "NET METERING" REQUIRES HARDWARE REPLACEMENT VS "GROSS METERING" WITH AN "OLD-FASHIONED" ELECTROMECHANICAL METER.

OVERALL, BUYING "EXCESS" SOLAR OR WIND "GENERATING CAPACITY" AND TRYING TO "SUPPLY THE GRID" - WHICH IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE AS FAR AS PUTTING ELECTRICITY "BACK INTO THE GRID" IN THE "SUPPLY" WIRES AND YOU CAN ONLY "SUPPLY" THE "NEUTRAL" OR "GROUND" SIDE OF THE CIRCUIT AT A "TOTAL LOSS" TO YOU, BY THE WAY - AND GET "FREE" OR "CHEAPER" ELECTRICITY AT THOUSANDS TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS "OUT OF POCKET" IN PURCHASE, INSTALLATION, CONNECTION, MAINTENANCE, FINANCING, INSURANCE, PROPERTY VALUE LOSS (THERE IS NO "NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE" FOR CONNECTING "ALTERNATIVE ENERGY" DIRECT CURRENT "TO" AC SERVICE AND NO SMART, INFORMED "HOME BUYERS" AND "LENDERS" AND "INSURERS" SAY "YES" TO A GIANT "ENERGY EFFICIENT" ELECTRICAL CODE "LOOPHOLE") AND PROPERTY TAX "INCREASES" COURTESY OF "BUILDING PERMITS" IS A GIANT "WASTE OF MONEY" IF THE "HOMEOWNER" IS UNABLE TO "PENCIL OUT" AND "PLAN" AND "ENGINEER" AND "INSTALL" AN "ISOLATED" GRID-INDEPENDENT SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS THE HOME TO USE LESS "GRID ELECTRICITY", WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY TO "SAVE ENERGY" AND "SAVE MONEY" OTHERWISE SPENT ON "UTILITY BILLS" AND WITHOUT "LOSING MONEY" BECAUSE OTHER "BILLS" GET LARGER AND/OR "VALUE" OF THE HOME IS REDUCED.
i suggest you get a battery bank..... disconnect the solar from the grid. get your bill back to the regular rate.... hook up new wires in your home to run lights and fans. only use electric company electricity to run high consumption items like a/c or heat or your stove or your clothes dryer.
Same thing happened to my Sister & her husband in Phoenix.
They are actually paying MORE every Month, now!

This dude got scammed so hard by a fraudulent door-to-door salesman it's sad because there's a lot of good solar installs out there but this guy was a victim of a scam artist not to be equated with an actual reputable solar provider.
It was a bummer
The 30% tax incentive goes to the owner of the panels. What is a "true up bill"?
The one I'm going with gets paid by the government for installs. I researched them thoroughly, knew exactly what they were recommending and can read contracts.
Wild
I agree, that Comp looks about 3 years from a failure. Also the 30% tax credit the salesman spoke of is not a guarantee and should never be sold as such. I agree they a lease is not the best solution. However if you secure a 0 escalator and have no tax appetite then a lease would potentially be your best solution.
You can get scammed even when buying a car.
Gotta make a little research my friend. Just cause you got scammed that doesnt mean solar pannel dont work. They do
Yeah it’s hard haha they got me
In Germany you would be saying: Lebensweisheiten mit many. Wich means Like wisdoms with many
Haha
hahaha true
It is even more sad, that such thing happened to such a great person!! Keep it up!! 🙌🏻
I made the video so I hope it didn’t happen to other people
Great video.
Ouuuuuu! Good idea
Or that can go on the roof and you can take off aswell so you can move it
@@MannysWorld yes that would be sick.
A lease is the worst way to go solar. Power Purchase Agreement next worst, Solar loan may be ok but paying cash is by far the best way. If you have cheap power solar does not pay well. If you are paying less than 20 cents /kWH you should be very careful figuring your ROI.
Yeah the new system I purchased cash!
Awesome sauce Manny!! Going green bro!! Love that u got mad respect for others and our environment, and...skateboarding!!hope to meet you someday! 🤘🏽
Trying to do as much as I can
Canadian Solar and solar edge are cheaper tier2 components. Hope you got it about $2.10 a watt.
This is just a video explained to people what to look out for. I’m happy yours worked out. That’s awesome
sureley they dont expect more money from u, i wouldnt pay, id say they owe you more for the damage and the cost of replacing
Yeah it’s wild
That's why you can get 290 w solar panel off Facebook for 100 bucks . Just get couple of them and you can just buy part by part
Congrats on the W the other day (BOTC)! Tu eres el duro!
Thank you!
Helpful info, thank you for sharing. Looking into solar but planning on building my own system.
Wait so you didn't explain what happened. I thought you were stuck in a 30-year contract and you couldn't get out because they can put a lien on your house. Do you still have to pay them what's going on with that? Explain.
How did you get out of your original lease? Thank you very much for sharing your experience. You have probably helped a boatload of people.
Yeah they already installed, it’s supposed to generate enough to make my bill be at 0 and have credit in a account to use towards water and sewage.
Do you know the difference between CURB and enphase? Can you explain this to me.
A true up bill is a year’s worth of energy consumed beyond what the solar produced. EVERYONE will have one. Included in that is a $10/ month connection fee and there are fees that come with the ebb and flow of energy back flowed to the grid.
What country do you live in?
Yo Manny, congrats on the win at fise brother. Your final run was sick man, hope your keeping well big dog.
THANKS!!!!!
I would file a complaint with the atty general of the state you are in.
When companies first started doing mass solar installations (circa 2012) like solar city. I knew in the future they would have to be renovated again. Luckily manny caught some of it and nipped it in the bud “Did it right and took care of the stuff.” We just working, researching, reading, doing it! Skating,

Guy in yellow seems like a modern used car salesman
Typical people making choices base on feelings. "Safe the world", "good for the environment". What people should be asking is how is this going to safe me money or make my house efficient.
I understand one cannot sell their home with solar panels because the panels do not belong to the owner. That would be a lien on the property.
Are you compounding your problems. You will have to pay for the old unit and the new one
You can sell the house if they are pay off. You can pay off at closing.
@@robvazquez2074 , I'm sure once you sell your house, any leans on the house will get paid.
i know this old but those shingles are hit i hate roofing but i would do that first just to not have to take it down again..valley looked ruff but all love wish solar panels were more of a thing in the midwest
Facts, as a first time home buyer you learn through mistakes. I would do the roof first then do the panels myself next time.
Good stuff manny. Glad you're getting a new system installed. I wish it was easy to get a tesla powerwall. They're so behind on making them.
Donny Tucker can buy used .model s battery and diy. way cheaper.
Tesla pwr walls are proprietary "installed" systems (AND has a lot of good points). With that said... There is some grapevine that Tesla can access your system and turn you off at their will. For a myriad of other reasons, I'll avoid a Tesla system.
@@MrConformation Not only that, they only work if you're connected to the internet so they can constantly monitor your system. If for some reason that doesn't work, you have no power #fail
when you need a roof,do the panels have to come off?
I work in solar now for the last 7 years. Def. Go with a local electrical contractor who will generally give you the right answers.
Yeah leases are generally baaaad unless your a big utility.
Yeah it’s wild
A tip since you work in the industry: most folks want to relax at home and already get intruded upon with Robocalls. Dont do the door to door...
You should have had roof replaced before installing the panels you could have added cost to panel installation and recieved tax credit for it aswell
Yeah I had so many questions
Did they pressure you into going door to door also?
TheGrafton12
No, that’s the salesman job.
I was an installer/Forman
How did you get out of your lease?
Working on it but yes!
Residential solar has always been a bad idea. Makes more "cents" to make your house more efficient, or add solar hot water and geothermal systems to reduce ac use.
For a couple grand u could get a non grid tie system and not worry about a lease or a power bill
LA county is pretty intense
You need new shingles, manny.
Yeah soon
Feel bad for you...but that is why you research before making this kind of decisions......So I just did it myself...no extra payments and saving over 150 bucks a month.....
Thank you for the truth, I am sorry that happened to you..I appreciate your honesty 😉👍
So any update? What ended up happening with that original company?
How did things work out with the other company
Waiting to see
@@MannysWorld Oh man dude I fear for you because you are moving way too fast on this. That other company is likely to drag you into court and say that you didn't give them a chance to fix the problems. It is also likely that in the contract you signed it states that if they have to fight you in court and they win you will pay their lawyer fees.
Shouldn’t the installer be going over everything the other company did wrong and what you need?
i'm about to go solar and not signing anything that says they can take my house or put a lean against it. its going to say we put it in and its going to work right with no leaks and save me money. i will pay you them for one year if it saves me money i will pay it off if not they can come get it.
So when the customer get solar panels and he didnt qualify to get the 30% federal taxes, the customer don't get nothing, but the solar company keep the 30% federal taxes? Do I am right?
I was just quoted $60000.00 for a 19 panel system with a generac battery by a company In Louisville KY .. that's ludacris.. defeats the purpose .. ONLY A FOOL WOULD GO IN DEBT FOR 60 GRAND.. what type of system could I get from the company in this video and hopefully they aren't stupidly outrageous like the company that quoted me ..
TLDR: Read any paperwork you are about to sign.
Would of like to seen an update to this.
Poor fella shoulda googled solar panel stuff for like two months before making the commitment to buy from that contractor. There are many folks (in Texas) who are benefiting from the savings and independence.
If they do not refund you, why would you return the panels?
No I’ll sell them
Rent your electricity from Utility companies and never own it OR own your electricity. Purchase your solar, don't do leases or PPA's.
How much have we given our utility companies to rent that electricity? No different than your cable box.
Installers not wearing safety harness?
Look at your roof dude. You should have reroofed prior to installing. your going to have to remove the panels when you reroof. READ AND UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN.
Yeah it’s ok, is had a couple more years and I have a free one time take down agreement to redo my roof
MannysWorld no bro that roof doesn’t have years left on it it’s shot.
That 30% federal tax credit is down to 26% now.
Signing a contract on the door offers always a chance to cancel for 14 days - at least in Germany.
And who buys from a guy on the door the first offer you ever got ?
Yes, he is dumb, scamsters are everywhere but it's ur responsibility to get knowledge about everything before signing these type of contracts.😥😥😥
Well, he ain't in Germany.
You could have installed your own solar panels without paying anybody a monthly fee or lease
Facts but there’s more to it in California
That sucks you got scammed and holy shit did they mess up a lot installing it. Weird looking solar panels to, never seen any like those. Awesome video and congrats on winning botc man.
So wild
Many solar panels are polycrystaline...these are monocrystaline. Supposedly a tad better, but in our experience, (I live in an off-grid community), it can be better to just get an extra panel or two.
Thanks for the info homie. Sorry I had to go through all that... I always felt this was a scam. Everything feels like a scam these days. I feel like unless you become somewhat of an expert at it yourself it’s hard not to get ripped off lol
Wow I'll NOT be going with this company for sure. Thank you for the heads up I'm so sorry they did you this way. That's BS & they should fix it!!!
Micro inverters and optimizes are not the same thing.
This is why you need someone like me...that knows general contracting but also skateboards lol
Hahaha
How do you get out of a 30 year lease?
You don't live in Santa Clarita do you?
"Once you get solar you eliminate electricity completely?" I'm afraid that's not correct. In a grid tied situation, most electric companies will limit the size you can install. It's what they call an 80% offset or even %120. Whatever the case, that system will never produce enough in the high demand months to cover the use.
