The babies look so healthy and happy. Momma is a pro already. All the goats are thriving. I also just wanted to say that Sophie has such a kind heart, she is a natural with all the animals. They all have their own little bond with her❤
I absolutely love the little tail wags❤ The little boy with the white on his ears is adorable and my fave. The tiny white spots on the other boys side of the legs are the cutest. Winston is gonna have some buddies to play with soon.
How old is Winston now? Eating grain is normal after 2 weeks old. It’s fine for them to nibble at it, he will be ok. As long as he’s not eating a TON of grain.
I was hoping to get into goat breeding/ having baby kids when I have my farm eventually and I was just wondering what you do to prevent accidents, rocky runs with the goats outside but is there times when you separate him? And if so how do you keep him happy by himself?
I’m not sure if you watch DaNelle at Weed em and reap, but she keeps her bucks separate at all times. She had one of her bucks go to a friend who let them co-habit and he (if I remember correctly) broke his leg and had to be PTS. Since this she had recommended that you keep bucks separate, and that they are perfectly fine by themselves. I’m sure if you give them enrichment/ toys, they will be fine. Hers can also see the other does too so they aren’t in solitary confinement. Though, I know others have successfully let bucks roam with others. They will only breed the does if they’re in heat. But it’s now always easy to catch it - if you don’t want accidents just keep them separate 🙈
Rocky is castrated so that he can be with the girls or he can babysit the bucklings or even doelings! He is our babysitter goat! If he was a buck he would have to be separated and little Winston will have to be separated soon!
Laura I’m dead impressed with you guys - it is very, very apparent how much research you have done since having these goats. Wonderful to hear you say and do things that have been suggested by other goat breeders/ channels. You guys are actively trying and learning, which is great! Glad that the breeched baby made it out ok - that’s a rough delivery! Sorry I am unsure on the next doe to kids’ name 🙈🙈 but that is one seriously lopsided udder!!😳😳 best of luck with the next kidding!
Thanks so much Leah! That actually means a lot! I think goats are easier for me because I have more of an aptitude for them! I really appreciate your words of encouragement! Breach is a normal birth presentation in goats! Isn't tnat crazy? It's only if the feet are forward that it because a bit trickier!
Beautiful and Sophie did a great job with everything! I may get to go home today! I came in over my lungs but I thought it was my heart and then yesterday my heart decided to go bonkers on me! This morning it's back to normal! They were talking about maybe having to shocking my heart but all the meds they pumped thru me helped thank the Lord! I want to thank all those who were praying for me,I appreciate all of you! ❤❤❤❤
Oh my goodness they are so cute the new baby goats now Winston can play with other baby goats and I now he is playing a little bit with Lola but still 😂
I will separate them at 8 weeks ans then band at 12 weeks! I don't like to do it too early because of the ramifications! I get your point though. That little they will be so hard to keep separate. At least they will have each other to play with lol
But why? Part of owning animals is making difficult decisions. I raise pure bred Flemish Giant and New Zealand rabbits. If I kept all the babies I fall in love with I would have 400 rabbits. I have to really make hard decisions on who I keep and if one of my kits is better than its parents I might cull the parent and keep their offspring.
@@melissaspake7727interested on why you would cull the parent if it’s perfectly healthy (despite not being the ‘best’ of its breed)? Why not adopt it out? My lop peach was rehomed after not being a great mum, and she’s been an amazing pet for me. Are yours bred for meat? With rabbits being able to have large litter sizes, and FREQUENT ones at that.. I’m curious at how you’re avoiding just culling a load of healthy adult females? Though, I’m sure you don’t cull as often as I have it pictured in my head. As an owner to 4 rabbits I couldn’t imagine culling them just because their offspring may be ‘better’. I also breed horses, so this idea of culling the mare because its foal is better is nuts to me, so why is it different for small animals? If there aren’t enough homes to adopt them, then all these rabbits shouldn’t be bred. There’s already enough in the system. Again, I suppose it is different if you’re breeding for meat. As much as it pains me (especially seeing the conditions they’re kept in - sorry by wire based tiny boxes will not sit right with me ever - not that I’m saying you do because I literally have no idea lol), I do get why people will breed them for their own meat consumption. I just don’t understand why people need dozens at a time whilst also stressing that they produce so many so can’t keep them all. Reduce the breeding, and this is much less of an issue. Just because rabbits can have many litters one after another, doesn’t mean they should. Especially with how large their litter sizes can be. Anyways, if you couldn’t tell I’m very passionate and full of feelings when it comes to rabbits 🤣 I wish you all the best - you breed two wonderful breeds.
146 is the day this year, my doe went on day 146 and a doe I was watching went on day 146.😂😂 It is the year of Bucks… so was last year tho. Hey Sophie, ik you probably didn’t know and that’s fine. But when babies are born you need to try not to dry them off, you can clean their mouth but otherwise just give the babies to mom and let her do it. They’re both adorable, sucks they’re bucks but oh well. Those are some big boys!! They’re chocolate w frosted ears and moonspots. You guys got lucky with that second one, that was an easy birth for a breach baby. My does first kid born this year was breach, it didn’t go that well. Ik your wanting to put sweaters on them cause they’re cold, but your should really wait till after they’re 100% dry. Smudge for the moon spotted one, Hershey’s or snickers for the other one. If you ever need to clip umbilical cords just tie some dental floss around it and cut below. Well congrats on the babies! If you don’t know if they’re warm enough just put your finger in their mouth, if it’s warm they’re fine if it’s cold then there’s something wrong.
Today is day 146 for tilly so let's hope! I agree with so much of what you said! I literally can't find dental floss. It's the only thing in my kit that I couldn't find. Everyone sells those tooth pick things. I can't wait to do it all over again!!!!
Her udder had popped, it’s hard to tell over videos. With the doe having a decent udder it makes it harder. You can also check ligaments. They sometimes don’t lose the mucous plug till a few minutes before kidding.
I never comment but can’t resist chocolate name suggestions for those cutes (love your videos and family even though I’m not a commenter): Wispa Aero Malteser Crumble (for the violet crumble bars) Cadbury Ferraro & Rocher Kit & Kat Fingers crossed you get some girls next!
