    >Driving a huge, impractical EV with a ridiculous battery size
    >Using an extremely slow EV charger that charges by the hour
    >Surprised when it takes forever and costs a fortune
Oh yeah. Big brain time, my dude.
You charge an EV at home. Fast chargers are only for long distance travel.
To charge that EV at home with my electric rates (which are high for the country) that behemoth would cost around $15-20 to charge from fully dead. The gas equivalently sized Hummer (the H2) has a 32 gallon tank that costs just shy of $100 to fill up at $2.99 a gallon (which is cheap and often even more expensive elsewhere).
So yeah....if you charge an impractical vehicle at the worst possible location for the worst possible charging rate, you'll have a bad time.
EVs aren't for everyone. For everybody else, get a Hybrid or Plug-in Hybrid.

Many apartment complexes and townhouses are adding EV charging, as well, but it's going to require changes that take time.
66% of people in America own their homes, which means they can easily add charging infrastructure to their parking situation. Your argument applies to 1/3 of Americans and there are other options as mentioned above.
