On the part where you had trouble disconnecting that hose, the official gx470 manual says to push the connector in (not out) and then pinch the rectangular rubber ring at the tabs then pull out the connector. Works great once you get the hang of it.
I found it easier to lower the spare tire and disconnect the large line and the smaller line not at the tank. The large line goes into evap canister and is a lot easier to see and disconnect. The small line has the same type of clip (blue in color) as the supply and returm lines at the front of the tank. Disconnect them, pull down on the white plastic line mounts and lower the tank. No playing blind disconnect on a poorly designed connector.
Thanks for the video! I'm totally bummed out - I too was also following the LX470 fuel pump replacement and thought to myself, "this will be a cinch!" Glad I dug deeper and found this video for our GX.
Thanks for the video! Your video and tips gave me the gumption to replace mine and it went really well. You mentioned that you cut an access flap, in case you needed to access it again in the future , so I just cut a similar flap in the carpet without removing the seats.
Thanks for the video. I had problems with that same connection, but there was no way I was going to get a screwdriver/pick in there (I have a 2006 4Runner). I actually found the proper way to get that connector off is to squeeze the piss out of the sides (opposite of the side that has the tabs) and it’ll come off. Why Toyota doesn’t have an access panel under the seats big enough to pull the pump out is beyond me. Again, thanks for the video!
Great video, thanks for posting. I'm having the same issue on my 03, did you replace the fuel pump or the entire assembly? If the pump only, was that easy? I'm concerned if the plastic is brittle and will break when changing the pump only?
I keep getting a high fuel pressure code, replaced the fuel pressure regulator and evap can bc I saw a crack. still the code comes up, did you have any codes that made you change the fuel pump as well?
I’m confused. There was another video on a gx470 that showed him just pulling the pump out. Why did you decide to remove the entire tank for? Only asking bc I need to do mine and I don’t want to do anything unnecessary
Wish you had posted part numbers for the fuel pump. Amazon has two different kit depending on which you get, it has different components in the kit. Denso 950-0206 Denso 950-0226 Fuel Pump Mounting Kit Which one should I buy?
Not sure, sometimes I dont add part numbers because Im not 100% sure on cross over and year specifications. Try to cross reference your part numbers on a different website

Good luck!
That large quick disconnect fitting is part of the EVAP system

Do all 2UZs share same fuel pumps? Local service says lX470 or lC 100 series pump will just fit. I think mounts are different on GX

This video has convinced me to pay the mechanic

If I remember at this point, I think I combined a little old with a little new of everything.
Awesome video, I was wondering if you could speak to the process of repositioning the fuel pump controller?
Not sure what youre referring too.

Sound like another bad fuel pressure regulator. That’s really the only thing to cause high fuel pressure

If its the video I watched it was an LX not a GX. The hole in the GX is not big enough, no idea why they would do that.
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks ah touché sir…touché indeed
Спасибо большое за видео!!!! Очень помог!!!
My gx470 will crank but won’t start. Battery is great. I was driving and it just started doing that.
sorry, there could be a lot of things causing that unfortunately
OK, does it keep the same RPM's? does it almost start or just crank for hours?
thanks i needed to see that second fuel line connection.... ... is stupid
Did you have any lean condition codes before?
Id have to rewatch all my videos, I honestly dont remember the codes at this point
What symptoms did you have that made you replace the fuel pump?
better watch the videos leading up to this..... lots going on
Is there a skid plate underneath the gas tank?
yes
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks Good, people are starting to drill through the bottom of gas tanks to steal their fuel, I would like to prevent that.
@@Moondoggy1941 theres holes in the skid plate its not really going to defend against that
why you did not show one of the clip?
Which one? I showed the one that was a pain, the others are really self explanatory and pop right out.
Its this harder than doing it in an cayenne?
I have no idea never worked on one
There is a class action lawsuit for this against Toyota and Lexus
Interesting.
A lawsuit against them for what exactly? The fuel pump??
