I loved this bike from the first time I saw one. A year later I bought a 2021 Travel version with the tubeless tyres after having a four hour test ride on one. After 3500 miles I still absolutely love it.
A year on and I’m STILL loving the looks of this Guzzi! 🥰
Yes mate - agreed. Still fond of this bike - good memories from the launch too
Great scenery great riding 👍 that lead rider was chucking his ride around the corners 😱😱👌 no wonder you were struggling to keep up! 🤣🤣🤣😉👍 I normally like the custom Guzzi’s but that is a nice bit of kit, love the sound of it, thats a nice mid size tourer/adventure machine. 9/10 good looking machine, thanks for putting this up Bob 👍👍👌
Thanks PG. We were one of the last press groups over a two week period, so I assume he’d had plenty of time to learn the roads and the bike. But I’m not much of a quick rider anyway so doubt I would have kept up on his first run!
I like the fact that it is a mid-size bike with shaft drive, which is ideal for long distance touring. Thanks for the video.
Great review. I have a V9 Bobber Sport and your review of the V9 was spot on. Guzzi's are lovely bikes to own and ride. Don't judge them just by spec sheet numbers.
I absolutely love the styling and the tested yellow color scheme. Totally what I want in a bike.
It looks gorgeous! Both the road and the bike.
❤️It's soo good! Wow! ❤️The bike not only looks good👍, it runs great👍, It has so many convenience, 👍shaft drive, 👍2 valves titanium in valves, 👍screw tappets pushrods, 👍valve heads sticking out easy servicing, 👍4,9liter per 💯 km, wow Moto guzzi really knows how to make bikes💘
I love the look of this bike 😍
As a Guzzi California Sport owner and previously a GS1150 as well, I love the looks of this bike, now I have heard it with you riding it I so have to get myself a ride when they are available :-) thank you for posting!
Sounds like it will be very tempting for you! I loved it. Hope you enjoy the test ride!
Looks good. Shaft drive is a massive plus; no chain maintenance etc. I have a Guzzi dealer nearby. I will have to see if I can get a test on one when they’re available.... 👍🏻
I believe they’re in dealers in a week or two. 200 bikes coming to the U.K. in the first batch. Definitely recommend trying one out as it might surprise you how good it is. And yes, the only shaft drive in the mid-capacity adventure bike market
Just bought a Yamaha tracer 900GT and I am not giving up that bike, but I would love to have this as a second bike, definitely aim gonna testdrive it!
I’d imagine it’ll feel a bit less refined than the Tracer, but definitely worth a test ride
MotoBob hustling that thing thru the curves. I like it.
MG need to offer an alloy wheels + tubeless tires option ‘cos, let’s be honest, most of these bikes are never gonna go off road. I think it looks great and the engine sounds lovely
Maybe I can get a long term test from a dealer - like 5 years.
Haha that would be nice :)
It must be in my garage next to my V7iii. Brilliant Moto Guzzi
That would be a nice pair of bikes to have 👍
It looks like the perfect upgrade for my NC750X, same saddle height, but with actualy some off road capability, better on road performance with more power and better suspensions, lower home maintenance with the shaft drive and all that coming at a similar weight. Strong personality looks that I think would stand the test of time in my eyes is a not negligable bonus. Lucky I am stingy.
Another Great looking bike true to the Moto Guzzi DNA. Those roads looked so much fun.
Yeah it was a great day out on the bike - was feeling very lucky to be there
GuzFreak here. Love it. Except the TFT digital dash. If it had analogue clocks it would be a 10/10.
I can see what you mean... at least it's well hidden behind the screen so doesn't spoil the look of the bike from most angles. And it is really well equipped, so I think it would be really useful for longer touring trips. But I understand what you're saying - there's something nice about analogue clocks.
Or at least an analog rev if anything would be nice, so split-up dash..,tft is needed for all the other info (riding modes, fuel consumption, temp, nav.)
Michael Hayward agree
Good review! Like the way you give it. Loved the Guzzi from the very first picture I saw. Trying to think of a way to get to 10 grand 🧐
Thanks Robato. I wouldn’t mind one either if I could magic up the cash
I'm interested in this bike as an alternative to a Bonneville T120 or Scrambler second bike. I am thinking when I move back to the states getting a GS1250 and the V85TT. I was going to get a Bonnie to park next to the GS, but this looks more like a better more beautiful all a rounder.
Hope this sells well for Guzzi and love the rock n roll engine effect you get when at lights.
Thanks for the video !!!
What about the duo with this bike for road trips between 100 and 300 km? Another question: we drove on a Honda 600 XLLM (with the big tank). The bike was not very balanced, the weight was too high. What about this V85, the tank looks impressive. Certainly, nothing beats a test (it's programmed), but I'm interested in your return (and that of the users). Thank you. Purchase planned soon. It's been 20 years since we did not ride a bike (work, work, always work and then hop, a little incident that makes a "turn") and we can not wait ... Hesitating between 3 motorcycles that I will try (but it's short a test): Honda CB500X 2019 (correct price, easy, I have a little bit a bit duo and a little loaded on the small mountain road), Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone (with probably shocks and saddle change) and the V85tt (over our budget, but forcing a bit ...).
Thanks for your help !
I actually really like the styling of the bike, especially the dual round headlights at the front, paint scheme is very suitable for the bike however i wish they made the tank all solid yellow personally. Its nice to see Guzzi making something like this, its very similar style bike to the Stelvio but this is much more appealing, and i hope they have many more sales with this.
A second Guzzi for you then?
@@motobob Aha i don't know about that :D
Good stuff Motobob 👍 look forward to seeing the bikeworld vid. Guzzi looks fantastic out the box, I have an old Strada 750 thats a project so have a soft spot for the brand.
Thanks mate. Yeah I think it's really well equipped as standard. Had a blast riding it
That ride looks just like riding through parts of New Zealand! And the perfect machine for the task. If I suddenly got rich, this would definitely be the way I'd go. Please, Mr Lotto!
Haha good luck on the Lotto MB 🍀
Hi Bob, nice little gig for you then. I like Guzzis anyway, old or new, but this bike seems to have found a nice retro slot in the adventure bike market and I reckon the pricing is competitive, yeah really like it. See if you can get Bike world to send you on more adventures, could be an opening for you. Cheers👍🏻🏍
Can’t do too many travels with having a young baby, but yeah keen to make more vids for them. I’d agree that it’s a nice new niche in the market and they’ve done a great job with this bike
Really interested in this bike as a substitute light weight from my Yamaha Super Tenere. As an adventure bike, does the bike produce enough watts to power both heated grips and heated gear such as Gerbings jacket and glove inserts? I ride all year long and have become addicted to my warming gear when -6 Celsius outside. If yes, its a done deal and will anxiously await for the arrival of the bike in the US market .
I’ve no idea about wattage - you’d have to check with a dealer. We didn’t need any heated clothing in Sardinia! 🌞
Great video and nice gig btw! The Guzzi got a lot going for it, the suspension, brakes and equipment look really good and putting a big tank on it is also a very good choice(loads of bikes nowadays come with way to small fuell tanks).
Also rather goid looking with that lowish screen and colour scheme.
Yeah the tank is definitely a selling point. My street twin is only 15 litres or so and I can see why 23 might be alluring
@@motobob Yeah my 1100 Scrambler also only holds 15 litres and these aren't even the worst examples. The tanks on the HD Forty Eight, Triumph Bobber and new Suzuki Katana are pretty much useless.
You turn in to the corners too early. Happy trails.
Lovely torquey engine, not so keen on the styling. Living in Wales, UK, dry roads are a rare luxury. Nice to see they do exist.
Yes indeed - was a rare treat for me
Nice I love moto guzzis I have a 1200 stelvio find it a little heavy hoping this model will address this sounds promising thanks for your thoughts. 👍
Thanks Chris. What weight is the Stelvio? This is about 208kg dry or 229kg wet which seems reasonable, especially given that the seat height isn’t particularly lofty
It's about 280 wet so not light
Ah ok! Then this will be a fair bit easier to manage
Good review. I really like it, a different choice to the norm. 👍
I do like the look, was planning to buy it with some luggage to head out on the road on small tours with the wife. Unfortunately when I sat on the bike with the missus on the back, her feet were messing with the rear of my heels. I like to ride with the balls of my feet on the pedals. Consequently I am now going to pick up a Versys 1000 SE. Good luck with your sales Guzzi, Shame it didn't work for me.
That’s a shame David as it’s a nice bike, but if it doesn’t work for you in that respect it’s got to be a no go because there’s nothing more distracting than feeling that constant nudge on the back of your leg!
@@motobob .. and the versys comes with a quick shifter which is better for my arthritic thumbs on the clutch operation.. fun fun
A great review , looks like you had fun which is the main thing. The looks are growing on me, just don't know about the colour, I imagen it looks better next to it 😉
Definitely looks better in the flesh Andy, although perhaps one of the other colours like the silver would be easier to live with day in day out. At very least, it’s great to see Guzzi putting something out there that is different to anything else on the market
A few more photos of the bike from different angles would have been nice.
That’s fair - thanks for the feedback
Looks like a sweet bike and some fun roads. Would love to see some tripod shots of you causing by the camera to see something other than POV. Probably not possible when you are on a guided ride.
More of that type of shot in the bike world video which is to follow
Nice bike and nice roads, 23litre tank is great for big miles, why manufacturers don't build bikes with adjustable seat heights is beyond me, if you're short in the leg it can be a real deal breaker! Nothing worse than being on your tip toes on dodgy ground...
I think there are options for + or - 10mm but I think it’s a separate seat rather than adjustable
My BMW R1100GS had adjustable seat height, so some bikes have it.
I went to see the bike on Saturday and I asked: you can have a -20/+20mm seat as an optional.
Nice ride, MB! Thanks for bringing us a great review. Will be interesting to see how well these sell in the U.S. as there is a LOOOOOT of competition in the ADV-bike market here. Guzzi's aren't really that popular over here. They're great looking bikes, and I've heard they are pretty simple to work on.
Oh, and the ride and weather looks AMAZING!
Yeah it was about 20 Celsius and no wind. Perfect really. Perhaps this will be the bike that breaks America for them! But I believe most of their business is in Italy and mainland Europe
I have a few friends that own a V9 and they have put a substantial amount of miles with no issues, I on the other hand, have a 2017 1200 BMW GS and had a few issues already including the rear electronic suspension failing and I yet to take it off road, perhaps bad luck. Guzzi have this winning engine and drive shaft that are iron clad !
The.Otis.Burger yes, you have the KLR650😂😂
Nice review. Love the bike. What the heat like coming off the engine? It can be a major problem from bikes like the Tiger 800, KTM, Versys 1000 during the summer month here in Australia.
Gorgeous bike. Nice review, cheers 👍
Thanks Rumien! 🙌
I wonder how I would fit with my 6"4 and long legs :) And how are the vibrations on the handlebar? Looking for a fun but comfy bike dealing with some physical challenges. This one might be too heavy for me. But it's a good looking bike and seems a lot of fun. Nice vid, thanks for the upload.
Well done on the Bike World gig! Onwards and upwards, eh? 👍
As for the Guzzi - when I first saw press pics of it my initial reaction was, nope, don’t like that. But now I kinda like it, even in those colours. In fact, those colours really suit the bike and are much nicer than the subtle ones, imo.
Good luck with BW 👍
Andy 🏴
It's definitely a bike that grows on you in terms of looks. Just this one vid for now for BW which should be out in a week or two, but we have some ideas for further collaboration so we'll see :)
The Benellli 1130 Trek you need to double tap the start button ( once started ) to reset trip meter etc . It’s a bit of a pain , but for ride modes can see that being a positive while on the move . “ great review bye the way mate “
Interesting! I suppose it's a good way to make use of a button that is otherwise redundant once the bike is started. I'm sure it's something that becomes totally natural after owning the bike a short while
@@motobob thanks for a GREAT review I will be looking at one of these as my nexted bike. Yours is the ONLY English version so far.
Love the bike roads and scenery!
Yep I felt very lucky to be out there on that day!
A full on view of the bike would be appreciated. Good riding content.
Cheers PWW 👍
MOTOBOB 🍻 cheers.
I am in between this one and Husqvarna Norden 901... Not sure about warranty and spare prices in regards to these brands...
Is any review going to show were the V85 is located , not ONE review shows the air filter location
Nice video! Subscribed!👍👍👍
Cheers mate! Welcome 🍻
Gorgeous Guzzi, looks a treat!
How quick did you get it up to?
Sweet road, envy your job testing too 👍👍
Was a beautiful road indeed! Not sure of top speed - most of it was twisty in 2nd to 4th gear
Very lucky boy, makes a change from London commute? Wish I was invited to a trip like this instead of my London commute! Need to see overall shots of the bike though
Yeah saving the shots of the bike for the bike world video. Just thought I’d post the ride here 🙂👍
Hi , do you know the length of the connecting rods centre to centre of journals and the crankshaft stroke ? apparantly older Guzzis had a greater conrod to stroke ratio which made them smoother and nicer to ride . similar in concept to the Big
block Chevrolet motors .
I’m afraid I didn’t get that, no
nice ride … looks like I need to add Sardinia to my list of places to visit :) Nice jacket too - is it fully armoured?
Yeah it’s a revit stealth 👍
@@motobob nice - I like low profile gear that's simple and discrete but does the job. So that's another thing you've added to my shopping list!!! :)
For someone who rides predominantly in the city, you are shredding the twisties.
Thanks Jane! It’s an easy bike to pick up and give a bit of a thrashing :)
I was thinking the same haha
🤪
Just wondering about the handlebar vibes. I have had issues with riding twins losing the feeling in my right hand after an hour so on the road.
I’m pretty used to the vibes of a twin with riding my street twin every day, so I can’t say I noticed it. But the only way to find out yourself would be to take one for a spin as it’s quite a personal thing. The V85 TT website makes it quite easy to sign up for a test ride!
so it firms up with a little bit of twiddling ...? mmm hmm ...
Unless your spring has gone, of course
By the way...how did that seating position feel towards the end of the test ride? Is it upright enough to avoid undue fatigue for an hours long ride? Also, how bad was the vibration at the grips and how did it make your hands feel near the end of the ride?
I ride a Honda XR650L single and the buzzing at the grips is a bit much for long highway rides. It's manageable by loosening up on the grips, but I'd rather not have to worry about excess hand buzz. I imagine it will be smoother still, coming from a thumper single, to a twin
I’m used to a twin so I didn’t mind the rumble at all. I’d imagine it’d be smoother than a single but you’d have to test ride yourself to be sure as it’s different for everyone. As for the seating position, yes I found it really comfy. I’m about 175cm and I think I could go all day on it
Dude congrats on the official gig! Did they reach out to you or did you reach out to them? So happy for you and the channel!
Thanks AJ. BW got in touch and we’ve been trying to find something to work on together and then this trip came up 🤘👍🤪
Nice road ... I watch it tell the end because we booked 1 for my husband this bike is late arrival here in Philippines , I’m glad to see some reviews including yours ... By the way what brand of microphone you are using for your gopro in your helmet ?
Thanks! It’s a Sony ECM CS3 mic into a tascam sound recorder in my pocket which is sync with the gopro footage once it’s on my computer
MOTOBOB alright thanks
Is tha go pro mounted right in front of the dashboard to hide the speed indicator? :))
Lovely looking machine -How does this bike compare to the 800cc competition, in particular, the F750GS or the Tiger 800 ?
Good question Mike! It's been a while since I rode the F800GS and the Tiger XCA, but both were great bikes. The Tiger stands alone in that it's a triple, and that will probably sway some buyers. The motor on the F800 and Guzzi are more similar of course. They're all in a similar price range though and the new F850 GS Adventure looks similarly well specced for the money so I suspect it will come down to personal preference. Best to test ride them all!
Nice bike, great review and awesome riding skills Sir. Thanks
Cheers Mark! Was a great day of riding for sure
The bike looks smooth and torquey. 'Classic Enduro' is inventive or another way of saying Bonneville Scrambler maybe, ahem. What's not to like, except the colour of bike you were on. But then it's all a matter of opinion isn't it. Riding around on those smooth roads is nice work if you can get it. Enjoyed the vid. Cheers!
Cheers Col. Yeah there is some overlap with the Scrambler although this might have a bit more touring ability in it's standard setup with the screen, rack, and the tank capacity is much better for big miles. But yes indeed it was a nice day to be out riding - felt very lucky to be there
Whats the good crousing speed with this Bike is 80 and 90 easy?
I would say so. Didn’t do loads of motorway speed riding but 80 should be comfortable
Better riding than London! GReat looking bike, and liking that its shaft drive. Thanks for the Vlog
My pleasure! Definitely beats London, especially at this time of year
What a cool looking bike.
Moto Guzzi sure knows how to design with style.
(*Never had one to be honest, currently riding an Aprilia)
Yeah I generally like the style of their bikes. The v9 bobber was being used as a lead bike for the launch and it looked pretty great in the flesh too
Yup, a few days ago I sat on a v9, it's a nice looking bike. I like all of the Moto Guzzi line, they have something unique with the design language..
I'm very interested in one of these bikes! I'm looking for something that's a bit more pavement orientated than my DR 650 yet something I can take for a 300 mile trip which I'd normally take my Heritage Softail on instead and I hope it's also good enough to carry a passenger on also. My DR is daily transportation in the summer for going to work and back which is 32 miles(54km) round trip and it's all gravel road. Thanks.
Very nicely Motorbike&video 🇮🇹🏍👍
Cheers AP!
@@motobob I test drive this Motorbike last Saturday in Mandello del Lario 😁👍
What did you think about it?
@@motobob ...so, except for the sound of the exhaust pipe, that I will buy immediately a "Mistral's model" I was positively impressed by the work done. Comfortable driver's seat and also nice space for the passenger, responsive engine, elastic, super-soft clutch, the right weight of the Moto, very manageable, I liked it a lot!
Yeah I think it would sound amazing with a louder pipe too. Want to hear the akrapovic, but there will be other good options too
Sardinia...How nice...I hope you visited the Argiolas Winery...=)
I didn’t have time I’m afraid, but I picked up some Sardinian wine at the airport to take back for the wife. It was delicious! Definitely hope to go back some time - would like to ride those roads again, and the winery sounds good too. But it would have to be specifically in that order
what's the bike like to go from 70mph to say 85mph ?
Like the looks, wonder about its off road capability, looks heavy....
No different to other bikes in this class. I suspect that it won’t be the choice for riders who spend the majority of their time off road. It’s a tourer that can take on a bit of gravel if you need to really
Lovely 'bike good review, cheers!
Cheers RJ
Where was that road? What a nice ride!
Don’t remember the exact road - was in the south of Sardinia in the hills. The SP71 coastal road was excellent too
have they said what the service intervals are yet?
Not to my memory, no. But I’m sure that’ll be available soon, probably similar to the v9?
@@motobob i better book a test ride then
I’d definitely recommend giving it a spin!
How did you like the tires?
I rode both and felt that the Metzeler Tourances on the silver bike were slightly better on the road than the Anakees, but both were good
Thank you, BUT, we did NOT get a good look at the bike!!! WHY NOT?
WHAT does it look like???
There'll be more shots of the bike in the BW video which will be out in a bit. But I'll take your feedback on board for future vids as well :)
@@motobob
Thank you.
I hope I did not offend you. If I did I apologize.
Not at all!
Google v85TT 👍😲😀
Sweeeet!
How long is the warranty?
Not sure - best to contact dealer
I think this bike knocks it out of the park. However, let's be honest. On such a road, all bikes a great.... :-)
Yep - it wasn’t the worst day riding I’ve ever had
I like that a lot! Amazing how that lead rider got away from you really quickly, put that down to him knowing the roads better than you. I too have short legs, short everything really....except errr... moving on, yes i would like to try that bike on those roads. Nice bike 9/10.
Hahaha 😂 yeah he had been there for 2 weeks leading rides, but in all honestly just a much better rider than me
Where is the dual sport? I am looking for an adventure bike..
I’m not much of an off road rider, but the short stretch we did earlier in the day felt pretty good. Maybe test ride it if you’re serious?
@@motobob Hard to test drive in the mud and gravel. i think I will stick to KTM.
@@Discoverortho1 No it's not a 790R, but that's the wonderful thing about it, Guzzi have brought a relaxed, middleweight travel bike with unpaved road capability to the market. If you want a more hardcore, revvy bike...KTM. 👍
Nice review
Cheers Mike! ✌️
shame it was "on tarmac" only review as this is a dual sport kind of bike, yeah good review nice bike
Cheers michal. Afraid off roading isn’t my deal, but the bike seems pretty well set up for it.
Might find your riding smoother if you didn’t cut in so early on these corners.
Good sound!
Great review mr.Bob, your channel is coming along nicely! Love the bike! Something different. Like a GS with soul. What jacket is that you're wearing by the way?
Thanks very much LH - appreciate it. I agree it has a bit more character than your average adv. bike. I'm sure the first 200 bikes to hit the UK will sell out if they get enough test rides, as I was really impressed with the ride. The jacket is a Revit Stealth - really like it. Very low profile for a bike jacket with armour
brilliant bob!
:-)
Cheers CG!
Thanks for the nice Video
My pleasure TB!
Top blag dude! Makes a nice change from damp London.
I understand that Guzzi are developing liquid cooled engines (finally) to meet emission tests as much as anything. Any mention during the briefing?
Not at all actually! The whole thing was purely focussed on the V85. Be interesting to see what they come up with if they go down that route tho - Triumph did a good job of keeping the water cooled twins relatively true to their predecessors so I would imagine that Guzzi would go down a similar route of keeping it a transverse v twin and trying to integrate the water cooling minimally around that
Christian Weller please god no!
@@michaelhayward7572 Well... nobody complained when Ducati did it. :D
Christian Weller i'm too old school
I'd own a 2V air cooled Ducati anyday. I will never own a 4V water cooled Ducati. In fact, 42 years of riding motorcycles, i have never owned a liquid cooled bike. Don't even like EFI..... but that limits the choices....
+Christian Weller The new liquid-cooled engine will be presented in 2021, on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of Moto Guzzi. Greetings from Milan.
Will it cruze @80 m.p.h. for distance...
I’d say so, yes
Looks like everything the GS has stopped being, should do well, finally a mid range bike with some real 2cylinders character, wonder how it'll fit taller riders ? anyone 6ft ish test it there?
A few riders taller than me, yes. No real complaints of note. Guzzi included a bit in the presentation showing how they’d designed the ergonomics to fit 95% of people, so you need to be on the extreme ends of short or tall for it to be a problem. I believe there’s also a +3cm seat option too
@@motobob Thanks for the info (and a good review) enjoyed seeing that bike tested. First motorbike review I've looed at for years', so that must be saying something hey! & so far looked like all the road testers were maybe a tad shorter than a typical GSA rider (my last few bikes) Tenere 600 also fitted me well, but that's probably on the taller side of bikes as well.
This Guzzi does look tempting though - nice mix of old-school meets new with a bit of individualism. Thinking it'd be handy for my little runs out around eastern Europe, sound nice popping down them Tatra's :)
Great looking and a striking paint scheme. However the way - and the position - of the rear shock mounting / weld looks pathetic. I can't imagine for a moment that it would withstand even gentle off-road work.
I assume they would test it pretty rigorously before it gets to the market, but I guess only time will tell with reliability matters
tank range?
400km according to Guzzi
'short legs, they run in the family'.
Omg another person that knows how to speak English yay!
😂👍
Knows how to speak English? He is English. Nothing but the Queens English
@@alrightdave6135 American English would be better, but I'll let it slide this time. Jk, UK English sounds good too.
😂👍
It can only go up from here! It'll be a gateway :P
Intriguing bike, but not my style..
Haha thanks mate. I’ll remember you when I’m CEO of Motobob Content Inc.
@@motobob Hahaha, as long as you invite me on a few launches we'll be all good then! :P
👍👍👍
Very nice, great, interesting adventure bike; congrats Guzzi for your awesome V85TT 😍❤️. But seriously Guzzi: tires with tubes 👎🏼; even the nice V-Strom 650 XT who is much less expensive got Tubeless Spoked Wheels! Guzzi please offer Tubeless Spoked Wheels for a little extra $. & please raise a little bit the foot pegs for next version of your great V85TT.
why does every bike tester think his/her comments sound more important than the Guzzi itself?
What do you mean? You'd rather just have the sound of the bike for the whole video? Or do you mean the audio balance?
Buttery-smooth in my earholes.
Nice bike, I suppose, although I don't like 'adventure' bikes, and I wouldn't ride on tubed tyres.
Probably not for you then! Was more fun than I was expecting, I have to admit
crusing speed
