    Purchasing a baby monkey from a breeder is still ripping it away from its mother. The mother probably doesn't enjoy being impregnated multiple times to only have every single one of her babies torn from her. Can't even imagine the cruelty of that process. And you just gave them $10,000 for it lol. This will be another unfortunate tragic ending.

      Just to play devils advocate? If she didn't buy her...who would? Research lab? Maybe you're barking up the wrong tree....a tree with a whole Lotta branches. I'm not saying I'd own a dang monkey. I have kids, 2 rescued bunnies and I'm GOOOOOOD....im just saying...its an entire industry and it seems to be booming. Why? Every other comment on ppls pages that isn't SHAME ON YOU...is where'd you get that monkey and how much was it? Monkeys in the US **ARE** 8 to 10 K for certified, healthy, checked out, not dark net, etc.... who exactly started this trend? Genuine question. Edited to add, you may know cost, I added it for the other ppl asking. If you see a monkey cheaper or discounted...you're being scammed. My best guess....I've never seen someone post lower than 1500 for a lil Itty bitty marmoset and that was years ago.

      @@crackers1039it doesn't matter who would buy it. She is supporting animal abuse. The cocaine industry is booming too, so because it's already available, people should buy it, because who else would? Lol. This confused woman will not have this monkey in 3 years. A baby monkey is not your kid or your rabbits. Giving people the benefit of the doubt is a dangerous game, you don't have to be a psychologist like me to use this common sense. Cost doesn't matter, spending 10k is evidence of this lady's lack of judgment.

    Just an FYI, when they do that it is actually called "geckering" and you are right in that researchers/'primatologists consider it to be the equivalent of a human baby having a temper tantrum!
    Also girlie (and I don't want to step on your toes here..by no means do I mean to offend or upset you) another thing to think about...in order to rear a macaque baby into a healthy, happy adult with the least amount of abnormal behaviors and habits a good goal to set is to try to emulate their real mother's care as closely as possible. Because they cling to their moms 24/7 at this age the most ideal care you can provide to her would be to do the same as much as possible by allowing her to pretty much cling to you 24/7...it is a survival instinct for them when this young and when they are not allowed to follow through on it it causes them stress and anxiety and it can have lifelong behavioral consequences! The owners that attempt to copy mom's behavior even allow them to sleep at night clinging...by nature not being allowed to cling to mom means certain death for them in the wild since she provides protection, milk, warmth...everything that is necessary for their survival. If she puts them down like this then they freak and call for her because they instinctively know they will not survive! It is the single most important thing you can do for them while they are this young. Despite what some people might think it will not spoil them...in fact not allowing them to follow instinct by not allowing the to cling all the time actually will cause them to be _more_ dependent, to have less confidence-that they need to have in order to explore the world around them and to cry/whine more. They cling to their mom and when they get a little older than she is they start venturing out a couple of steps away and check things out and then they run back to mom and reassure themselves that she is still there for them. When they gain that confidence that she is there for them to run back to and cling to each time they gradually begin to gain more and more confidence.
    There has been a lot of research done on these things and macaque moms that are or borderline on abusive to their babies, who push them off or dont let them cling...these babies try even harder to cling, are fearful, won't venture out and are delayed in social, psychological and physical development.
    I'm not trying to be rude or judgemental or anything and by all means you should do what you wish with your baby its just that most people are not aware of how terribly important these things are and that it can affect them for the rest of their lives. It will also build her trust in you and the bond between you guys!! It only lasts for a few months and you might find yourself regretting it later on...
    Take care girl.

      Yep your going to get some push back in these comments. China stopped selling Macaques to the US of A in late December 2019 stating the needed them for the pandemic. Whether ppl believe testing on monkeys is wrong or testing is the best alternative to using humans for covid19 1 thing is clear that those who prior to the global pandemic did not want primate used are changing their stance in the face of pandemic at home and abroad. The truly sad fact is Cambodia citizens who engage in the brutality of Macaque mothers and their offspring being torn apart in the name of financial gain using the infants usually from wet umbilical cord to age 10 months then kill or illegally sell the animals to countries with $$$ to afford a primate ( clearly USA UK AUSTRALIA fall within that group ) only to receive the animal dead or near death and learn hep B hep C HIV Covid19 are now at risk via these disease ridden critters and further ppl paid to receive this nightmare keeping the pandemic not just going but on going in the "great satan" whom many will not shed a tear while otbers are taking pleasure to get 1 over on the US. Actually, by 3 months old they are more interested in playing than mommy.....except to nurse, of course, which they continue to do until about 10 months old when mom weans them, ready or not. Yes, they stay with their mom and want her around and throw fits when they don't get their way , but the geckering is only the first few months, then they start other behavior. But they don't spend every waking minute with mom after the first few weeks..... They use her a touchstone, but they go off and play with other monkeys.

    You should've left her wrapped around her mother's neck where she belongs. You keep saying to her "I know, I know, I know" but you don't actually know anything about what this baby monkey is feeling and experiencing. You don't know how it feels to be taken from your mother shortly after birth and have to deal with being constantly tortured by an overwhelming insatiable, & instinctual need to cling and suckle. You also don't know what it feels like to suddenly be taken captive by a weird giant creature who assumes they know how you feel but are sorely mistaken due to the projection of their own pathetic needs onto yours.

  • @jeanmobray6964

    My god, just pick her and hold her for a few minutes. I believe that you know that baby monkeys this size and for about their first 12 months sometimes a little less but quite often more, spend close to 23 hours a day clinging to their mother's chest and being cuddled to their mother's chest by Mom. They get warmth from her they feel her heartbeat there are a ton of things that they learn. They nurse on and off all day long. That's the way God created them to be. I don't understand why you can't quit what you're doing for just a minute and hold this baby monkey that you took into your care. You keep telling her that she's okay but God hardwired her to pitch a fit when she's not clinging to her mother's chest. It's not natural for her not to be and most importantly it's dangerous for her to not be clinging to her mother's chest. That's why they go so crazy when they're not sometimes. I think that you love this monkey I think that you want to do what is best for her. So please just don't let her do this.

Of course they want o be held as the spend almost all of their first several months clinging to their mother. When they are first poached and either ripped from their mother, often seeing their mother killed to make it easier for them to be grabbed they spend weeks in grief making that little call for their mom. That is the sound that would bring their mother running. Its not a tantrum and its not them being bad or annoying and its not their fault it is yours. What they need is to bond with a foster that can protect then, keep them warm., hold them all the time and give them plenty of time to suckle whether its for milk or just comfort. They are confused, and in shock, depressed and traumatized. They are not doing anything different than any baby like them ripped away from a loving mother that the desperately need as she can teach them how to be a monkey. A macaque is not only not jut a good pet they absolutely cannot be a pet at all. Oh sure they are cute and look like a human baby and you can humanize them all you want but within a year, or at the most too, they will mature enough that they will exercise their dominance and go from a cute toy to a animal you cannot control and cannot stop from biting and scratching, attacking you and any other animals in the home, and tearing things up, as they are wild animals and you can never domesticate them no matter how much you fool yourself.
    What do you do then? Cage her 7/24 which will become a miserable life for her because as a baby she had the run of the home, or have her dumped somewhere near a strange troop of moneys who will most likely attack and kill her rather than accept her, as she has no idea how to act like a monkey and know what a troop expects, or if by some miracle the troop accepts her she will be the lowest one in the troop who gest what few scrapes are left when the rest are done eating and will be have every male trying to impregnate her constantly as she is the lowest female and cannot say no, so she will have a baby every tear and that life too will be pretty miserable but better then the other choices. You could, of course, try to explain how you managed to get an illegal pet in almost all countries and see if you can get her into a zoo, which probably will not work as they probably have a troop and do not want the work of trying to integrate her, or send her off to a sanctuary if there is one with room, and if none of those options work you will start getting told to be fair and euthanize her.
    Does anyone ever stop to think about what happens after the first 6 months or so when they start not being so cute? Al this that you are doing and has been done to get you this baby is nothing more than animal abuse.

      @sanrose2152 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Pam Duncan In the United States, a pet monkey is bought from a breeder and not poached from a troop in the wild. It is unlikely that the mother would be killed.
      Primates are legal to keep in some states.

    how is making a monkey live in solitary confinement OK? They can never be domestic pets and you cannot give what the baby needs. You should really think about giving it to a rescue and releasing it back into the wild because you are not a monkey and they don’t need stupid clothes And if you can’t give her what she needs you don’t need her, you even said it yourself in the video

    • @PrimateProductions
      @PrimateProductions 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Releasing it back into the wild?? Just shows how little you really know and how you are just parroting info you have heard or seen!! Not only has this animal never lived in the wild neither has its mother or its mother, etc for several generations. They are born in a breeders facility. In addition how do you suppose it would be released to the wild when there is no native population of macaques here in the US? As far as a rescue goes you can be sure that the majority of "rescues" here in the US that actually have room to accept a baby monkey are no different than the situation she is in right now if not worse. Too many people building a whole bunch of enclosures on their property and taking in monkeys and calling it a "sanctuary" or "rescue". They still handle the ones the want to as pets and do not follow the guidelines necessary for it to be an actual animal sanctuary.
      The key is for people to not get them as pets in the first place but once it's done the animal is condemned to never live life as it was intended.

She will need to spend plenty of time there. They can die from lack of vitamin D otherwise. In the wild these primates are so very active. She will develop maladaptive behaviors. Thumb sucking, manipulating genitalia, grimacing are all behaviors displayed when they are dealing with loss and abandonment from their mothers. Not normal behaviors. She will easily out live you. She’s a wild animal that can never be tamed, as sweet, cuddly and adorable she is now, she’s going to grow and cause problems in your home and life.
    She craves constant clinging as she would with her mother. Let her, please. I know this is an old video.

    Sorry but you have a 3 week old baby monkey that by instinct alone is used to holding on to its mother at this age at all times.
    I understand you need to do things with your arms and hands but there are baby harnesses that you could have attached to your body and put her in which would have freed your arms and hands up to do whatever chores you needed to get done, but with this baby monkey still close to your body.
    I understand she’s not a baby anymore.
    But when I see her crying and throwing her attacks it’s only because she’s feeling afraid and alone without being close to someone most of the time.
