    Praying for those clear summer days to arrive soon!🙏😭 I seriously can't wait for the weather to clear up so I can start getting outside again. Indoor courts are expensive!

    I’d argue that Carlitos has one of the best forehand drop shots in the game is because he keeps his left hand on the racquet for so long. As his opponent, it’s hard to gauge if he’s hitting a forehand groundie or a drop shot until after he hits it. His racquet is also 305g which allows him to accelerate the racquet head so quickly, much more difficult for other pros who use heavier racquets
    Edit: but I agree that it’s much more difficult to time this way!

    Congratz on the YT partnership! How does Carlos forehand compare to Nadal's forehand in your opinion? Have you ever seen Nadal up close? Who do you think has a swing comparable to Carlos?

    • @sayles7858
      @sayles7858  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I actually have seen Nadal up close but didn’t video tape. The most current nadal forehand you’ll notice that nadal sets his hand lower and earlier than Carlos. His hands Al’s separate a tad earlier. On his backswing nadals racket face is faced u more than Carlos during the take back. I think Carlos has a slightly more eastern grip than nadal although I’m not 100% positive. Carlos has a much loopier stroke. Both are so good! I’ve honestly never seen a player hold the racket with their off hand so long and hold the racket up as long as Carlos. He has insane hand speed to be able to get under every ball. This produces his insane power but it is almost impossible for anyone else to replicate

    I have a question for everyone. Got super tight in my first match this year and couldn't shake it off. My friend suggested to count out how many balls are hit with each rally, beginning with serve as #1 and return as #2 and so on. Does anyone who gets tight in matches have some tips for how to stay loose? Thanks in advance and Les your channel rocks!!

    • @sayles7858

      There is no sure fire way and it works differently for everyone. Some people have to swing out a couple times and risk missing more to feel loose. One good thing to remember is to breathe when you hit. This is why many people exhale when hitting. Watch your grip tightness as well. It is normal to feel tight in an important situation. It’s more important to get good muscle memory so when you are tight your muscle memory takes over :)

      Hey man, I recommend checking out the Tennis IQ podcast. They have a good episode on this called “You Gotta Relax!”.

    saw him at uso and heavy topspin lol! I think though i can explain the missing and going for broke. In my experience, when i hit before a match if i practice too perfect it almost sets me up to play bad during a match. So, I’ll really try to see how much i can hit out and let the errors fly then tighten down for match. Maybe that’s what he’s doing here?

    • @sayles7858
      @sayles7858  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup! Sometimes practices from the same people can be completely different based on what they are focusing on. My guess is the same as yours :)

    I recorded Carlos' practice today before the semifinals. He was hitting with Ethan, an 18yo high school senior. I can send you the footage if you'd like.

    Novak does same with left hand

    • @sayles7858
      @sayles7858  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks similar but novaks left hand moves much more on the backswing and creates shape on the ball a lot more. Carlos’ left hand locks at the elbow and pushes more than Novak. Two very different backhands.

      @@mteca5093 oooh okay. But djokovic’s left hand on his fh separates significantly earlier than Carlos. I mean in real time it’s only milliseconds on average but it’s a big deal in terms of rhythm and timing.

      @Say Les everyone also has different dance rhythm....everyone different but online coaches think everyone should be same

      @@mteca5093 yes they are different and obviously both work. I am merely pointing out the difference. I do believe that one is a lot harder for most people to replicate and execute well though.
