    Thank you for sharing, this saved lots of my time migrating all my sub projects into Master project. Let me know if you have any video for resource management in projects as i want to allocate the resources to each project and understand if we need any resources in future.

    • @niksprojects
      @niksprojects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Typically in most organizations I worked, the resource allocation is managed outside of MS Project and mostly in Excel. This way the leaders can share the sheet and is easier to update the % allocation by project by month and see who is allocated to which project and forecast of when they will be free. I can probably make a video and excel template of resource allocation sheet.

    How do you link tasks between the master and sub project

    • @niksprojects
      @niksprojects  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The task should be in one place and not in both master and sub. But let’s say if you have task M in master that is dependent on tasks s in sub project then open the master plan and it should show the subproject task as well and in the predecessor for task M add dependency for task s

    Nik what would cause a project duration to change when it's inserted in a master schedule?

    • @niksprojects
      @niksprojects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The duration shouldn’t change in master project. Check in the master project that the tasks are set to auto schedule (not manually scheduled). The master project will reflect the longest duration from the su project.

As a program Manager I want to link all those 9 Projects to my master projects on my laptop. what will be the better solution to link all those projects on seperate computers ? Can do that using Sharepoint?

    • @niksprojects
      @niksprojects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, as long as all the individual project files and the master files are located in the same network drive or sharepoint the master should be able to load all the sub projects

    • @niksprojects
      @niksprojects  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I need to check, but as far as I remember it will get synced when you open the master project. For ex: if you just open 1 of the sub project make your changes and close it and open up master project later , you will see the changes made in the sub project in your master.

    i have a master mpp, where there are multiple mpps linked to it. Now if someone makes any changes in the tasks or duration in any of the linked mpps, i would like the master mpp to notify me about the changes made, so that i can inspect the changes before it gets implemented in the master mpp. Would there be a way to receive such alerts or notifications?

    Thanks Niks. Is there a way in which you can add a subproject that is located on SharePoint?

    • @niksprojects
      @niksprojects  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, My understanding is that as long as you can access the sharepoint you can link the subproject by linking it with the sharepoint URL. Let me know if you can map the network drive of that sharepoint in your computer and try to locate/open the subproject via the network drive (that is mapped to sharepoint)
