Cant wait to see more ultra portable groove boxes from bigger companies. Its certainly a interesting and competitive market currently almost entirely dominated by boutique hardware. This is a great day for this community!
Roland mc101 anyone?
You mean other bigger companies right? Yamaha ain't no slouch. 😂
I’m yet to see one I can imagine being useful enough to spend even a few hundred dollar on.
@@fentanyljones6956deluge is currently the king in this field imo. Not the most portable, or the most sexy, but it has the best workflow of any device I’ve tried (also force, mpc live 2, maschine mk3, and some elektron boxes).
Only downside is sound design being a little unintuitive. Would definitely love to see more companies try their hand at a deluge-like.
I can't wait to hear all the tracks produced by poor hipsters in coffee shops on a portable speaker before the 4 hour battery runs out. What a time to be alive! Community!
LOOK OUT TEENAGE ENGINEERING TURTLES..
Teenage Mutant Engineering
And much cheaper lol
$599 MSRP according to one gear website
Spat my drink
@@synclavier5405And $399 according to the rest of them.
This is much cheaper than the OP-Z, which also comes with the social stigma of owning a Teenage Engineering product.
Absolute win.
The style of "you know who" but with the build/product quality of Yamaha. Love it.
Who? Seriously I have no idea. Or do you mean Moog?
teenage engineering@@gevansmd
Looks kinda like my Korg SQ64 tbh@@gevansmd
You could say in the style of Dieter Rams. Of which you know who also draws inspiration.
@@mymonkeymovie Good call out, Teenage Engineering product names even seem like a homage (ie, Dieter product names like TP 1, MPZ 21, etc.)
That price is closer to reality than I expected. Thank you for not tackling my pockets just yet
Cool, someone is taking up the TE competition. Good luck Yamaha. 💯This looks awesome.🏆😃
Thinking the same thing.
You're sooo right!
This one is probably sturdier than the OP-Z which seems to be built out of papier-mâché, so yeah, I might actually get this one.
@@mcstabba Nah, OP-Z is sturdy. I've taken it to burning man multiple times carrying it around in a pocket and shit. Don't sit on your synths and they'll be fine. No hate to Yamaha, though- I want one of these.
@@MikeyJ223 The OP-Z is known to not be durable. After some time they tend to fall apart unfortunately. It's the main reason I didn't buy one. Such a shame.
This has some of the best demo music I've heard in a product demo...
goes to show that simple is often best
Its great seeing Yamaha synths doing something interesting again, they should consider releasing their classic synths in a modern format like what Korg is doing.
@@maccagrabmethe reface series has been doing that spectacularly for years
What a time to be alive. So many great new devices coming to the market (at mass market prices too).
Yeah, I've been obsessing on the cpm-ds2 for the last few days.... Affordable, portable... Take my wallet.
I also feel we are destined to be on this earth in order to have more consumer products. Feels like our sole purpose somehow. Amazing times.
F…. love! give us chips and software! yey!
Someone at Yamaha really loved their OP-Z and wanted to make it bigger. Exited to compare the two! It’s got a sharp style.
Yeah. It's a direct ripoff. Sad days at Yamaha.
Yamaha made a big ass op-z.
It's not much bigger by any means if you go look at the dimensions of both.
Doesn't look like the worst thing ever, but what I'm actually looking forward to is the Bad Gear episode.
He’s probably collecting memes as we speak.
I was on my way here to left this comment)))))
Bad Gear is just a review channel by now)
first thing i tought
It's definitely ticking allll the boxes.
Lol exactly
What a beautiful piece of design! Pretty hyped for this, looks like a fantastic tool for the backpack...
Man, this thing looks dope. The iOS app with the interactive tutorial feature will significantly cut down the learning curve. I can't wait to get one.
This is something special. This is menu dive free. Electron and TE learned all they know from Yamaha, Korg and Roland’s hardware. Yamaha sequencers/arrangers/groovebox’s and workstation set the standard for live looping alongside AKAI MPC workflow. Synchronizing Audio and Midi. RS7000?!! This isn’t a gimmick, and I’m guessing it won’t be over priced. This is a game changer. I’m grateful to see Yamaha continually innovating and reimagining
Hold your horses.
This is a bad copy of the OP-z
gAmE cHaNgEr!!!!!! LOL
😂
So many functions only in the app where you dive deeeeep. (not saying app is a bad idead, but instead that there is you menu dive)
IMO MPC workflow is horrible - it led nowhere except selling the MPC. This was MPC1000 and even supercharged with JJOS.
Although I live in the Elektron ecosystem and I am completely satisfied with their equipment, what Yamaha has done in this video is impressive. I like that they go beyond and create something more than just a groovebox. Beautiful design, beautiful software, original visualization. Keep it up!
It looks pretty sick, but now that pandora's box has been opened, I'm hoping to get a tiny MPC.
Wowwww that looks fantastic! Love the design, both in the physical and the software. Amazing work!
Love it! Great looking device packed with features, and a fairly priced one, too!
the visualizer and the interactive tutorial app are extremely wonderful and unique concepts. WTG yamaha!!!
Also shots fired at teenage engineering!
atleast the price is up on TE-levels :D
How so?
how so what? @@LoveMeBack
@@donnydarko7624 Can you please give a timeline where shots were fired?
They blatantly took design cues from TE, which could very well influence how the product is perceived by some amount of potential buyers. Actually now that I think about it, Im a bit surprised that TE didn't come up with the visualizer concept first, it seems like something TE would totally do. @@LoveMeBack
Was definitely not expecting a fully realized visualizer tool kit 😮 really interesting product
This is the first groovebox where the overall control flow really makes sense with my brain. Thanks, Yamaha. Keeping this on my radar.
Whoa whoa whoa, just hit the midi visualizer part. I love this.
Small light grey letters over bright orange backgroud. Yesss ! Great Idea !
This looks fun! Great to see innovation from more brands
Yamaha coming in hot with finger drums and a well thought-out sequencer / groovebox!! Friggen awesome Yamaha!
One could think that they could be working towards becoming a threat to Akai, the Mod X OS has more in common with the current MPC OS than I think most ppl realize. A true competitor in the pad style sampling workstation arena would be a good thing, Akai currently has no reason to offer anything truly amazing because there's nobody that's a serious threat when it comes to courting away their user base. Maschine + I don't feel qualifies as an actual competitor. Same with the SP404mk2.
those are not velocity sensitive pads like Maschine or others have, right?
This is actually a really nice design. Looks very intuitive. No screens required!!
Two hands required to start playback. That’s Design right here 💪
Reminds me of the Yamaha SU10! Can't wait to get this =)
Brilliant tutorial mode. Taking a nod from bitwig. This is a very good thing! Great work. TE should be worried.
yamaha have got form and function nailed. i am intrigued by this little box. nice.
and resampling! wow.
What a big win from Yamaha, this things seems pretty incredible
This is incredible. Yamaha rarely dissapoints.
just like your mom.
they do, with headphones & speakers. Usually these sound awful & harsh...
its marked $400 on sweetwater right now. incredibly good deal.
Finally received mine today. Not expecting miracles just wanted a portable sketch pad. 🤞🏾
Looks fantastic, and I love the visualiser!
This looks really cool and sounds pretty awesome. Love to try that out someday!
"Look Mom... I'm a music producer!" Kidding, it looks like a great piece of tech and lot of fun.
Pleasant surprise from Yamaha
This actually looks pretty awesome!
Obsessed with FM synthesis. I've been waiting for this.
Looks great, already want it
Well done Yamaha, what a cool bit of kit - for not a lot of money. Great value. Awesome result...
Wohooo Yamaha is back in creative process.
Yamaha just Always hits it in a special way. Btw this is the best sounding portable groove box already from the video you can hear that.
Congrats on doing something new in the hardware space!
Absolutely insane!
This is going to be amazing for my love sets! Can’t wait to get mine! Bravo
This is awesome!
This will be game changer.
Nice job Yamaha. I bought a DGX 670 digital piano last year for my daughter to learn how to play piano and we both love it. Now if only you'd make a competitive bike for Fabio Quartararo, I'd be very happy😂.
Wow! A long way from the QX5 of 1986!!!! Brilliant!
YESSSSSSS YESSSSSSSSS YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally YAMAHA is back!!!!!!!!
I was waiting you since my RM1x…..!! By the way I still got it because it was my first gear in 1997…. I love it….
IM SO HAPPY !!!!!!!!!!
Can I buy it? RM1x is a million times better than this!
Oh my god. What a beautiful machine.
my goodness that looks so gorgeous
Amazing can’t wait to get my hands on this!
Now that is cool design!
The visualizer looks great!
Super excited for this. Big fan of Yamahas gear.
Love the utilization of the vertical surfaces with labeled buttons. I still want an OP1, but I don’t want to pay for it. Which is why I’ll be getting one of these instead.
This is just.... WOW!
What the hell! I would buy for aesthetics alone! Great job Yamaha!!
Looks like something between the OP-Z and OP-1 in price, with nice design to boot!
I love seeing more competition in this space!
And yet it’s going for 399 on many retailers which is wild. The suggested msrp is supposedly 599 so idk why the street price is so much lower at the moment.
@@Kdkjdjewerdnxa well... what Yamaha device did you buy in the last years? I don't know anyone... ;)
Super excited about it!
The visualizer app is the cherry on top!
love this design!
Definitely wanna try this out
When I saw the specs, like a modern take on an AN200 module. I pre-ordered before hearing it. Now that I've heard it, can't wait to get it!
This looks great!!!
Awww it’s got a cute little tag sticking out just like my Pure radio!
It’s about damn time!!
Oh man, I've resisted enough. I think I am going to buy this. :)
love it, great job
Love it! OG in the house!
Yamaha always releasing gold. 🏆
Name few products
beautiful! well done yamaha 👏
There is lots of potential in these type of devices if the integration of tablets and phones works seamless. Because you can have the music hardware hands-on super-portable thing, but also stay connected and expand the workflow with more editing detail and depth, and all the community stuff going on.
This looks quite the thing. Can’t wait to see what it can yield.
Not the most perfect layout for now. But please keep going that way, Yamaha.
You’re doing it right.
That’s an op-Z killer right there.
Ive got it and truly recommend it its awesome!
Besides the LED color choice very nice look and feel!
This is a neat little thing. The workflow seems pretty intuitive from this video...
This came outa nowhere for me! Love the look of it!
I love devices like this and I want this one to be great. Looking very good so far. It's got all the basics of what I want out of a device like this.
What is the point of a hardware synth if you need software on additional devices to access many of its features, you might as well just use software outright & save yourself this purchase. The point of hardware is to have freedom from software on computers.
Except this works with your phone as well
That actually supports my point, I shouldn't need a seperate device running software to gain full access to a hardware synth, you might as well run a synth app & save yourself the bank @@jeroendeclercq7580
This is going to be huge for Yamaha! Original? No, but it is the sum of its parts plus Yamaha quality that makes the difference. Also nice to see USB-C making it's way into Yamaha products now👍
So is this Adult Engineering? Resonable prices and decent build quality.
No more asking mom for the credit card number
Very nice yamaha! I guess if it can compete with the old grooveboxes sound wise 🎉 I love my RM1X
I am sold !
take my money! this looks very well designed!
Love Yamaha ❤
Finally someone who thought about the iOS community. Thank you.
The sounds sound really good
Seqtrak finished the development of the OP-Z...impressive!
Phew that black one. Buying immediately (:
Preordered. Nice.
I like this lil thing.
The layout and knobs of the unit is smart and GUI interface of the desktop/mobile app is modern design.
Nice! Not as overpriced as te op1. Will definitely buy these
Its appearance is so captivating 😍
Yamaha is the GOAT!
yessssssss! ❤❤❤
Brilliant finally!
wowww this thing look amazing
I love Yamaha
I need this asap 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeeeaaahhh🤩
