This old architect (me) is really impressed with what you have done here. True organic architecture. A superior end result. This type will never become mainstream. Mores the pity. Your materials range from free to low cost with very few expensive bits added in. But your physical labor is much much more than conventional construction. Oh, well. We can at least appreciate what you have shown us is possible.
The real value of anything is what someone else is prepared to pay you or exchange for it........conventional standards are not a rule to compare anything you want to have.

Between the drone and the improved lens, this is a phenomenal difference. I have always had trouble forming a mental picture of your property from above. This changed all of that. More importantly being able to see both shops in the same shot really accentuates how they are essentially one structure at least in terms of design language. It's an absolute masterpiece, I hope you feel very proud. This could easily make it into an architectural magazine doing a feature on more primitive homes.
Dear Kris, all pieces are coming together, like You said - the upper workshop is a super building in terms of size, natural lights and super long walls for machines, workbenches, cabinets and may be a blacksmith fireplace, big anvil, etc... The only regret I have, is your filming documentation, in terms of weekly continuity, as we are waiting now three weeks for your super camera shots, drohne flies around the buildings. I see You are exhausted, but we are not, we are just waiting for your weekly updates, fantastic and entertaining as always. As You said, we also can not wait seeing the use of this fantastic working place.
This is so cool, Kris. For those of us that have been following the progress of your shop from the beginning, it's so satisfying seeing it get so far! It's hard to imagine it being a hill just filled with grass. I might need to go back to the first video to refresh my memory. Also, the drone shots are great. Being able to see a view from above, with sweeping side to side shots, really brings it together in my head. Nicely done. And good on Dot for learning how to fly it too :)

Really enjoying your content Kris. I'm a life long builder/ diy guy. Your projects make me wish I were 30 years younger with all that time to build and create. I built one of my homes single handed, but my old body couldn't handle that now. Our work is very inspiring !
Back in the mid fifties, one of my jobs was to beat cow hair with two battens, on a sheet of Expanded Metal to tease it out for use in the lime, sand, cement mortar for pugging ceiling panels prior to the finishing with lime putty and plaster. It was on Devonshire House Piccadilly and all work had to be done as with original materials. Keep the videos coming Kris. Interesting and brings back memories of old.
The new filming kit really gives us mortals a renewed sense of your accomplishments! The new drone shots really help show how in tune with nature your building practices are. So inspiring!

Don't worry about the lack of video on the plastering...you do what you need to in order to get it done. Less help means more you have to do on your own and we don't want you to have to work yourself to death. It's looking really good. You'll be done in no time and able to move all your stuff in. 👍👍

I hope Natural England and the Dartmoor National Park are watching the amazing endeavours of this industrious young man and his partner. This project shows how to rejuvenate the countryside, and it should be possible to implement such a scheme in England too. Thank you for your pioneering spirit! (And maybe someone needs to study the positive impact on local wildlife that an organic small holding such as this has - I'm sure you're eligible for some grants to help fund the good work you do - though perhaps you've already tapped into that...)
If they have much influence, these organizations follow the lead of the UN. And the UN explicitly advocates for increased population density in suburbs and urban areas. The implied corollary of this, especially when the rewilding concept has gained so much traction, is that they want less people to live in rural settings. Hence the complete radio silence on the impact of construction on climate change, and lack of coverage of the alternatives, tried-and-true, cheap, simple and potentially extremely durable.
Just a week or two ago a BBC article stated, rather cryptically (is that the right word?), that in the future up to 90% of the UK could be wilderness. You’ll need to apply for a permit to TRAVEL to 90% of the UK. Don’t hold your breath waiting for advocacy groups to take up the natural building cause.
I know this is late, but NICE camera shots with the new lens. Kudos on the drone, as well .. so nice for YOU to get a bigger picture of what you’ve created. Nice drone work by Dot! The view of the construction from above is just otherworldly. This is what building should be! I get that it is a bit of a building site for now, but the place is going to be so beautiful when finished, and so in tune with the surroundings. The whole project is worth a documentary film.
Multiple cat appearances make this installment of smarts and hard work even better. Great progress and you can never go wrong with a cat video. Other YTers have put small cameras on their cats to see what they do all day but I think your cat would give the most interesting content given where she lives. You could do an episode of "cat's perspective". Cheers!

My hands and arms were aching in sympathy watching that plastering. It's great to hear a helper but it also means no breaks! Hi Kris I can't even begin to tell you how impressed I am with what you have done. I have followed you from the beginning. I used to post here with the name *khasab* until recently. TH-cam took it upon themselves to suspend my channel I have no idea why anyway I just wanted to say how incredible the journey has been from a bit of land with trees on it to what you have built single-handedly pretty much. Really admirable
The drone footage is mega cool, the new lense is gorgeous too and gives scale alot better too. You done loads with the external walls and it's starting to look Fantastic, the view inside the top workshop with the sun was gorgeous, keep it up bud, love the videos.

Dot did a wonderful job on the footage she shot. Wider lenses sometimes need stabilization on your mobile shots, but thank you so much for trying to improve apon what most of us surely are already happy with. Your workshop is beautiful, thanks for sharing. I was waiting for the “quite pleased” but you rated it at “really pleased” which I’ve come to learn over the years as, “I just impressed even myself” lol you’re so awesome man.
The drone footage gives a great perspective as to 'what's where'. And the wide angled lens is great too. It suddenly looks so much nearer completion! Hallelujah😀.

My hands and arms were aching in sympathy watching that plastering. It's great to hear a helper but it also means no breaks! Can we just stop a minute and appreciate that down in the comments we have an architect and plasterer both giving Kris' work a thumbs up. When does that ever happen on TH-cam?

Hi Kris I can't even begin to tell you how impressed I am with what you have done. I have followed you from the beginning. I used to post here with the name *khasab* until recently. TH-cam took it upon themselves to suspend my channel I have no idea why anyway I just wanted to say how incredible the journey has been from a bit of land with trees on it to what you have built single-handedly pretty much. Really admirable

The drone footage is mega cool, the new lense is gorgeous too and gives scale alot better too. You done loads with the external walls and it's starting to look Fantastic, the view inside the top workshop with the sun was gorgeous, keep it up bud, love the videos.

Dot did a wonderful job on the footage she shot. Wider lenses sometimes need stabilization on your mobile shots, but thank you so much for trying to improve apon what most of us surely are already happy with. Your workshop is beautiful, thanks for sharing. I was waiting for the “quite pleased” but you rated it at “really pleased” which I’ve come to learn over the years as, “I just impressed even myself” lol you’re so awesome man.

The drone footage gives a great perspective as to 'what's where'. And the wide angled lens is great too. It suddenly looks so much nearer completion! Hallelujah😀.

I find what you’re building fascinating to watch and learn from. The new camera lens and drone shots are great. The sideways panning drone shot in particular, whilst you were plastering, gave a real sense of scale and was just really nicely done. Thank you for sharing.
