- Hello Everyone and Welcome!
In this video, I have decided to try using an alcohol stove. Summer camping is just around the corner and I often make my morning coffee using a gas stove. They are very loud and make it hard to enjoy the peace and quiet of the morning. I know the alcohol stove is much quieter so I would like to try it. I am also hearing rumors that the Trangia because it has the simmer ring / extinguisher "MAY" be allowed for cooking during a fire ban. I will need to call the Ministry of Natural resources to be sure. If they are allowed I may buy one.
Before spending money on a Trangia, I decided to make an alcohol stove to try. That way if I don't like it I am only out a few empty cans that I use in the build. I have done some research and came across a video from "Dialed in DIY" on TH-cam. The following is my attempt at building and testing this stove.
Please, join me on this alcohol stove adventure!
Thanks for watching!
Great job on the build of the stove!
Thanks! 🤝
Hello 🤝. Very interesting. Useful thing, easy to do on the go 👍
Thank you! 🤝
It's fun experimenting isn't it? I agree with you, those butane stove can be super anoying!
See ya next time Andy✌
Experimenting is always fun😁. Thanks for watching!🤝
I made a super cat can stove and another with a tomato can and cat can with wick. Fun to play with.
Always fun when your making things yourself🤝
Great job Andy!
Thanks Doug!🤝
Happy to see you trying alcohol as a fuel been thinking about this for a long time perfect for me if I’m just boiling water to make coffee or some dehydrated meals. Looking forward for some more follow up on this. Thanks Anndy. Have a great week
Boiling water is my main objective for the alcohol. Keeping my mornings peaceful is my goal.
Thanks for your video. Always fun to watch u doing some stuff from scratch. From what I saw, you put around 100ml-150ml of fuel on your first try. Hope to see more of your ''new'' alcohol stove on your next camping trip.
Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the videos. I already have some ideas for improvements. 🤣🤣🤣. See you on the next one.
I mainly use alcohol to cook. There's definitely a learning curve, and a Trangia/clone are the best. There's a sweet spot of how high to have the pot above the flame to get best results and fastest cook. I would probably invest in an alcohol burner with a stand and just ditch the homemade idea. I've made a ton of them, but haven't had a single one perform as reliably as my Trangia style stoves.
Yeah I figured as much. Wanted to test, to see if I like it, before spending the money. Tired of spending money on gear I only use a handful of times.
@@Anndyinthewoods no, sir! You take those words back! We buy to collect, not use 😂
@chadtilghman255 🤣🤣🤣
You can hear it on camera
Yes, but I had the camera very close. That sound is nothing compared to the gas stoves though.
Typical that it won't work with the camera on 😅
🤣🤣🤣
