  • We have had many requests to show how we make hulwa for hulwa puri so while I was making for my own home prayer I decided to share my recipe and method. I am sure there are different ratios and methods used but this one works for me.
    Ingredients
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 cups milk
    1/2 cup ghee
    1 large cinnamon stick
    1/2 tsp elaichi (cardamom) powder
    For the puri recipe see this video

      Hi here is the recipe we use. We posted to our community page previously
      Here is the roht recipe once more if you missed our previous post.
      5 cup flour sieved
      1 cup castor sugar
      1 cup melted butter ghee
      1 tsp elaichi powder
      1 banana (optional)
      Approx 1 lt cold milk. Start with 1 cup and add milk gradually until you have a dough that’s softer than roti finish. May not require full liter of milk so add slowly.
      Deep fry in ghee
      Makes approximately 20 Roht

    Is hulwa not made with sooji

    • @GaithreeDeviLuckan
      @GaithreeDeviLuckan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sarah, we have seen a lot of soji halwa recipes, mostly from India. I think, like so many other south african indian recipes, our forefathers here had to make to with the ingredients that were available so our hulwa recipe is how we have always made it. When we make soji with semolina, we call it just soji and not suji hulwa.

    U make parsad wid ur hair open n hanging all over shame

    • @SouthAfricanWanderer
      @SouthAfricanWanderer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Vasie. Firstly let me say that my mom did have her hair covered with a shawl but I made her take it off as I felt it didn’t look good on camera. So that shame that you’ve so freely handed out is on me and not my mom. Secondly, my mom finds comments like this very disparaging, despite the many comments actually complimenting how she looked with the hair open. The negatives are easier to take to heart. And lastly I fail to even understand where the shame is. Yes hair can get into the parsad but at the end of the day it’s only us who are consuming it. In prayer, as with anything in life, my mom has taught us that if it is done with love in your heart nothing else really matters…

    • @ashikaachotoo4539
      @ashikaachotoo4539 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ur comment is so unnecessary...the parsadh was made with love....thats all that matters

    • @rionasinghsr
      @rionasinghsr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's so sad that you write hate comments on people's videos. Do you know that these type of comments are a reflection of yourself and your state of mind. I know my friend's mum personally and she is such a warm, loving, genuine and sincere person. She makes all her food and parsad with a pure good heart and that is what counts!

      What a miserable person you are Vasie. You are one who is to be pitied. Shame.

    • @giogioskara237
      @giogioskara237 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ey Vasie you should Apologise for your nasty comment. She's a dear mother, what she does or how her prayer is met and done has nothing to do with you. She's doing it sincerely and from her heart. GOD looks at the heart and not her hair. Go and look at the ancient ramayan scrolls and paintings you will notice even the holiest ladies had their hair open. Besides its a old tradition by mother in laws to control young daughters in laws in the kitchen as they wanted and yearned respect. Her hair never get into the food. Why don't you go to the Isipingo temple and judge ladies who carry their talies with open hair. Have respect for elderly. No one ask you to act like mother in law or punditjie. If this seems to strong..Apologies. Don't do this and comment shame.. Shame is you as an individual. Comment is by Anesa, as I'm just using this site.
