    I bought both - the iX20 and iX20SE. The reason I bought the SE is, the gimbles pretty much suck on the iX20. I'm specifically speaking from a cyclic helicopter perspective. The left stick tension screw is there, but the tension adjustment sucks, it's never 'smooth'.... you always have this kind of 'binding' feeling. The SE with metal gimbles is much better, but not perfect. I have a 12 year old JR 9303 radio that has almost as good as feeling sticks as the iX20SE, giving the SE the slight advantage as it is a little smoother, but the JR's tension is more consistent, again, referring to the collective stick (LH stick). The SE tension adjustment screw for collective works, but the bottom half of stick movement has more tension than the upper half - I hope that makes sense... it's not consistent from bottom to top. Overall I think the SE definitely has better gimbles over the normal iX20, but they're not the best and, should be better. $2k is a lot of money for a "good" quality radio, it should have a quality rating of "excellent". My 2 cents. I watched this video before I bought the SE, but didn't get a good opinion from the author on the sticks, so I bit the bullet and bought both. I hope this helps anyone looking.

    What is your opinion on the stick feel between the ix20 and SE? Trying to determine if the aluminum gimbals is more cosmetic as I can't see any other differences than the case. Have you had a chance to pop the back-off and see how much is actualy metal vs the stock ix20 plastic design? I'm assuming all of the friction/ratchet gimbal controls are still plastic.

      Jason, I didn’t opened the case to see the differences. I got after the use of the transmitter for towing sailplanes for a 4 days week end a smoother feeling from these gimbals in comparison to the regular iX20, I like the feel of the sticks, but of course it is a bit of personal preference.

    So the case and gimbles are the only differences??

    So are the gimbles really thst much better?? I have a IX20 they feel really cheap and nasty. can the IX20 SE gimbles be purchased and put in the IX 20??

      It took me some adjustment to get the gimbals how I like on my iX20, but got quite pleased with them. On the SE they are to my taste smoother. I will suggest first to play with you gimbals, you would need to send the radio for service to be replaced if you want the SE gimbals, check with tech service

    Am I able to connect to and use my fatshark FSV1610 head tracker? The head tracker is wired and My DX8E didn't have a trainer port and couldn't use it because of that reason.

      Same one this one, there is no Jack 3.5 trainer port with a possibility of selective assignment of student channels. That would need to happen on a 2.4 communication, but not sure how. List of compatible radio for your device here fpvlab.com/forums/showthread.php?7012-Head-Tracker-Radio-Support-List-of-supported-radio-and-instructions

      @@StephaneRuelle I am probably going to have to buy a 2nd radio with a trainer port in order to fly head tracked fpv then. I would like to know if there is a chance I can fly with a buddy box trainer system without occupying channels so I can use the same receiver or would I no matter what have to have a 2nd receiver to do that?

    • @StephaneRuelle
      @StephaneRuelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@larsulrich3356 might be possible to have iX20 as main master allocating upper channels to the buddy box, using compatible radio as the buddy box and plugging your system to that second radio (again allocating upper channel to the buddy box # 2 that would be you fatshark system). Then you would have wireless buddy box between radios and your system plugged in the buddy box compatible with your system. Only one receiver. Let me know if it work

      Probably a bit late but absolutely you can use the Fatshark Headtracker on the iX20. I have mine setup and works great. You need the Spektrum adapter cable for the trainer port to connect the FS cable though.
