She was the one who got me to like country music as a kid. Even the pop stations played her music. RIP Country Music's Rose

This is an awesome clip. After Lynn stepped out of the spotlight for so long we were so anxious about what the critics called her 'comeback'. When she came out on that stage my Mom and I exploded!! She looked so amazing and sounded so incredible. She knocked everyone out of their seat that night and showed them she still had STAR QUALITY!

did you live under a rock in the '70s? they didn't get any bigger than she was in country music.

Okee Konokee I didn’t listen to country music until 1994 (by force) and didn’t voluntarily listen to it until 1998-2002, (regrettably didn’t get to experience the 1970’s).
But you are right, She was one of the biggest Country Stars of the 1970’s Up there with Dolly (maybe more so, Lynn was the first Country Singer featured on the Tonight Show), and yet, in that gap of time I do not remember any Lynn Anderson being played.
To sum up what was played it was mostly, Garth Brooks, Kenny Rodgers, Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks (today The Chicks), Reba, Dolly, Brooks & Dunn, The Judds, Allen Jackson, Hank Williams Jr., Toby Keith and even Cletus T. Judd near the end.
So presuming they would play Country from the 80’s and 90’s and I believed they would bend to include the 70’s, I sadly do not remember them playing any Lynn Anderson (unless they did and my parents thought it was Tammy Wynette or the Kendalls).
Lynn was still making music until death, and remaking her old songs until death, so realistically, there should have been a song of hers playing.
So admittedly I am at a loss, I feel bad for her, as I don’t remember Ken Burns even mentioning her, which to me is harsh.
But I apologize for only discovering her last year (Thanks to my Fathers copy of the AMC Awards DVD, which had her performance of the 1971 awards), but regrettably I only learned about Lynn recently.
I feel bad that I didn’t know of her while she was still with us

@@MrKenichi22 Ken Burns didn't mention many who should have been featured, not just mentioned. Lynn Anderson was a big deal in her day, for sure. I read she was also the first country female to headline & sellout Madison Square Garden in 1974. That just didn't happen for country females back then so this, too, was a huge deal.

The live version is better than the recorded one it has a bit more pep in its step

I agree. But Lynn is one who learned the lesson of what happens when you leave a white hot career for awhile, and then try to come back. Sometimes it's harder than it would be if you were starting from nothing. So talented. Love her.

Lynn Anderson - You Can’t Lose What You Never Had - Lyrics
Waking me up, packing your suitcase, you say goodbye like a slamming door.
You think I’ll cry, like I’m a loser, just ‘cause you won’t be back no more.
Oh…but I won’t be sad, you can’t lose what you never had,
Oh…how could I feel bad, you can’t lose what you never had.
This ain’t the first, I’ve heard about her, you keep a secret like a fish keeps dry.
If she’s got your heart, then she’s got a heartache, don’t say you’re sorry, just say goodbye.
Oh…but I won’t be sad, you can’t lose what you never had,
Oh…how could I feel bad, you can’t lose what you never had.
I won’t forget you, but I can let you go, and I won’t be sad,
You can’t lose what you never had, oh… how could I feel bad,
You can’t lose what you never had, oh…but I won’t be sad,
You can’t lose what you never had, oh…how could I feel bad,
You can’t lose what you never had, you can’t lose what you never had

itsjustme2919 I kinda like it, But I do agree in a way that it seems Lynn Anderson seemed like she was becoming a living Barbie Doll by the 1980’s.
Kinda different from the shy looking woman who sang Rose Garden back in 1970.
