    It was the Viltrox lens firmware I was talking about :) Firmware 1.07 I think. Before that, the lens ignored the focus speed in camera. I have mine on +4 tracking, and -4 speed for the Viltrox and it's pretty smooth. It's still not a great lens for autofocus though. Z6 is superior :)

      lol - I finally got that done. It took 5 cables and 3 computers heh heh. I got it to the new firmware this afternoon, what a pain :) Yup, the Z6 is the best buy on the block right now. Get a gray market one. I love that 7S3 your playing with though, yup, a perfect camera lol. But it needs to do 30fps at full frame without crop or its a deal breaker for me personally. Will be making a video on the S5 Lumix tonite, I will see how the V behaves now :)

    Brilliant Peter various parts of your input adds to the never-stop learning we all do in photography & videography l have none of those cameras still using the GH4R with G9 & GX8 which all have their pros & cons. Coming from the days of Film back in the mid 60s the self-taught trials & errors inc Developing never fail, even in these ever-changing Digital Days, to make me realise the Art of Capturing has no boundaries and each can teach (poetic...) through trial & error - today, even though l am not a Portrait or Wedding Photographer, you revived something l knew but had let slip my mind of the Dominant Eye... thank you for your videos I’m sure those Camera Manufacturers are listening : The Fuji overall, in my opinion, was better colour balance - the future - now where will that take us, l hope always with a Camera & Lens than a ‘Smart Phone’ that will probably connect directly to the Optic Nerve...? Hope your keeping well through these uncertain times. Michael /OAK77uk

    The z6 output is one of the best I have seen. I created my own picture profile and it looks perfect SOOC. The xt4 AF is very similar to Panasonic, it is not smooth and loses you a lot. Nikon AF is identical to DPAF from Canon, I bet they reverse engineered their AF because Nikon went from the worst to one of the best in a single generation. "It's not bouncing around" while it is bouncing around, LOL.

    the trick with Fujifilm focus is - 1) lens in non Fujinon 2) camera has advanced setting for focus system how fast to be and where is pointing to - Face/left -right Eye and also on priority on which color has to be focused too first. - This video does not shown setting on both cameras . PLUS color of optics via Viltrox can be different than is on Fujinon

      Tammy, I am in your exact situation and have a full Nikon kit with pro glass, plus I own an XT-3 with 23mm f/1.4 and 35mm f1.4. Have you gotten a Z6 yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts compared to the Fuji, especially when it comes to size and weight comparison, but image quality too. I also don't care for Fuji skin tones which is why I'm reconsidering Nikon Z6ii. Thanks!

My only big complaint with the Z6ii is the startup time, especially after changing lenses. Sometimes it takes over 2 seconds to turn on, and for wedding photography that means I'm missing shots every now and then. Hopefully that can be addressed in a firmware update.

    • @tombalazs5914
      @tombalazs5914 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zerospecs2331 If you're a working professional, I would recommend the Nikon Z6II over the Fuji system, as I have high standards when it comes to image quality. The only down side of choosing Nikon is that the lenses are still more expensive and bigger/heavier than their Fuji counterparts. The camera bodies are just about the same size when compared side by side, but the Nikon's have a much better grip. I also love the contrast and color renditions on the Nikkor lenses. I've been really happy with my Z6II's, and my kit as a whole. One major recommendation when choosing a Nikon Z camera... only consider the mark II versions of either the Z6 or Z7's. The mark II's have MUCH better autofocus, dual memory card slots, and other features that the regular Z6 or Z7 dont have that you will wish you had. Happy shooting!

  • @cohoonatube

    Nikon and Fuji colors have always been my favorite. I was surprised that in this excellent comparison I preferred the Fuji overall. Your skin-tone on the Nikon was too pale, but I'd have to see your Nikon settings as all these can be drastically adjusted to taste in both cameras. I think Nikon has actually bested Fuji's "Kaizen" with their FW updates lately. Prefer the full frame, contrast, and sharpness of the Nikon, and the glitchy/pulsing on the X-T4 would be a video deal breaker for me. Peter, how does the Fuji AF compare to Nikon AF for just photography... do you have more confidence in one over the other? I almost bought into the Fuji ecosystem, but purchased a Z6ii as a stop-gap. I thought I was going to purchase the A7IV when it dropped, but there was not anything in that camera that attracted me to pass on Nikon's colors. Excited for the X-H2(S) to drop, hoping it's AF is on par with their competition. Thanks for great comparison.

      Hi Lyn, I have the 16mm 2.8, it too is poor. Fuji doesn't do video focus very well but an awesome stills camera. It also does video well too, just pre-focus. The Viltrox lens is actually better than most of the Fuji lenses and the bonus is it is a lower price lens which is great for a lot of people!

    I like both colours from the Fuji and the Oly not so much from the Nikon. Focus on Nikon is better though. With the reds in the Fuji, you need to get into the camera's settings and adjust them down a little as well as turning down the vibrance a point or two as it's set too high as standard.

    I tried on several monitors and one monitor the xt4 was very vibrant, and the x6 was kinda neutral. On another monitor it was pretty close but the xt4 was more vibrant. I'm just overall upset with fuji autofocus. When you do events or video, i think confidence in your tool is major. • @scottrogers2831
    @scottrogers2831 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think there is a common thought amongst the opinions. Fuji, too saturated and not as good in the focus test as the Nikon. I really, really like the pleasing color of the Oly and if it weren’t oversharpened, I would want one for myself. I feel I can comment without bias as my background has been with Canon for decades. Prior to that is was Mamiya medium format. I am troubled to see in a previous video the Canon issue with its interpretation of the color blue as “purple.” I can tell you that I had that issue many years ago with our Canon DSLR’s and it cost me tens of thousands of dollars. I hope Canon can address that now that is out of the bag.

    I am watching this video between my iPhone, Lenovo 4K labtop, and 5k iMac, I watched in google chrome, safari, Firefox, and Microsoft edge. In safari the fuji looks a bit more saturated but both have a slight green cast, and the iMac is recently color calibrated. I slightly prefer the fuji in safari. With Firefox both images are oversaturated and have a red tint with the fuji more so. I prefer the Nikon. On my Lenovo in google chrome they look similar to Firefox with a touch less saturation and again I prefer the Nikon. Using Microsoft edge both images have a slight red tint to them with the Fuji being more severe. I prefer the Nikon. On my iPhone they are in-between and the colors look natural with a bit more saturation on the Fuji. I prefer the fuji very slightly on the iPhone. I never realized the colors shifted that much browser to browser. One thing that did not change is the Nikon's focus in much better than the fuji. The fuji is much better in todays video but still unacceptable.

    The Z6 had better autofocus here. Both were fine when you looked away from the camera, but I noticed the Fuji pulsing a bit every time you turned your head back to the camera.
    I recall from elsewhere that the Fuji 33 f1.4 has poor video autofocus so it's hard to be certain whether the problem is with the camera or the lens. On the other hand the few Z apparently all have good video AF performance, and even the old F lenses work well. So Nikon is more consistent. Compared to the XT4 with Fuji's best video AF lenses? With the latest firmware it looks like Nikon AF is as good.
    I have an ancient Nikon DSLR and am thinking of upgrading. Good 4K video would be extremely useful and this has made the XT4 and Z6 my leading contenders. So a very useful comparison for me, thanks!

    The Fujifilm X-T4 will look 10 times better than the Nikon when compared correctly. First of all, the Viltrox lens is a class B lens. It is a soft lens. It is not the X-T4 that is causing that color shift. It is the Viltrox lens. Second, the Fujifilm X-T4 colors are incorrectly calibrated. Your teeth look yellow like if you were a tabaco chewer (which I know you are not). And finally, the X-T4 focuses differently. I explained it to you but I don't think you understood the focusing parameters of the Fujifilm cameras. You should not tell viewers that the camera doesn't focus on the edges when you have the camera set to NOT focus on the edges. I will go live again later today and show you what I am talking about and I will re-explain the Fujifilm focus system and di the walk of focus live so you can see that the camera focus works. But the Fujifilm cameras focus will work based on how you tell it to focus. "Love you all!"

      Talking of 10, The Fuji lost focus right in the middle of the screen at least 10 times. Here’s what you gotta do.
      1. Watch Phillip Bloom study the Xt4 before you go online again. 2. Buy and use the Z6. 3. Use the Z6 with old Dslr lenses with the adapter. 4. Then try it with a 3rd party lens like Tamron. Then come back and talk about ‘10 times better’. The Fuji 1.4 lenses are NOT made for video. Why is it a surprise that Peter uses the Viltrox? Where does Fuji say “the 16 to 55 2.8 Only for smooth video focusing”? Now, in 8bit, @200mbps the Fuji shows up noise quicker than Nikon 8bit @~140 mbps. The Nikon colours are Better unless your eyes are defective. Fuji has a purple tone in All profiles. Peter’s teeth look yellow, EVEN with the Viltrox which offers a cooler image (which is less yellow/ orange). When you correct that in camera WB, you will have to move to purple. However, Eterna does a better job. Blacks are aggressively crushed in ProNeg, Provia and Velvia. Peter is right. The Zs are more flattering.

      @@mainmain5303 that is correct not all lenses from ALL companies ... regardless if it is Fuji, Canon, Nikon or Leica are class A lenses. When you do comparison tests, you need to compare APPLES to APPLES.

      @@mainmain5303 here is what you need to do. Watch all my cinematography and videos using the X-T4.... then come back and talk to me. You can't talk about a camera when you don't even own it. AND you can't talk about a camera when you have only had it for less than a week and you are just getting to know it. I am not a photographer, nor a wedding photographer.. but I've been shooting cinematography for over 30 years and have plenty to show for it. What do you have to show for it? I DID NOT THINK SO!

      Luckily Nikon allows you to create and add custom profiles for internal recording (and LOG is nothing but a color profile). You can either create one yourself with their picture control 2 software or just download one (there are several sources that provide them for free). That takes about two minutes of work. But it will probably forever stay their secret why they didn't include that themselves.

      Sotto Sopra Log generally has nothing to do with the bit-depth. The internal S-Log of the A7III is also only 8 bit. But yes 10 bit is definitely nicer. Not arguing about that. Generally having 10 bit internally is a major advantage of the fuji
