    Hi Sam - I am certain, many people around the world are thankful for the informative, insightful reviews you make in a humble way. You inspired me to make a few changes to my workspace. I was wondering, how you would best put a Logitech Brio along with the Xiaomi Lamp on a 34 inch curved monitor? Greetings from Belgium !

    • @MinimalDeskSetups
      @MinimalDeskSetups  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for that mate. Mounting the web cam onto your monitor lamp is definitely tricky. Most people just use 3M table to stick it straight onto the monitor lamp facing the person. Since you have a 34 inch monitor, you have the option to mount the webcam off center too!

    • @MinimalDeskSetups

      Sorry mate for the late reply. I'm not sure which Baseus light bar I have, but the one I have has a rubber pad on the place where it interacts with the front of the monitor. In my opinion that might soften the contact and you'll have a smaller chance of damaging the bezelless display. I hope that helps.

    • @MinimalDeskSetups
      @MinimalDeskSetups  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, my monitor arm had a cable clipping slot which allows me to thread cables through it. The only bad thing is, I had to buy extended length cables so that it would reach my PC. haha

    • @MinimalDeskSetups
      @MinimalDeskSetups  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-it7lw3oi9q yeah, it's worth the investment. Being to adjust where the monitor is and how high it is is pretty important for ergonomics i guess. I think cable length is one of the problems you have to be wary of, most of the monitor arms come with an in-built cable management solution. So it'll help with that.

    How does the brightness compare to the benq screenbar? If you use a light lux meter app on your phone and place your phone on the table, how many lux does it provide l? Benq gets you upwards of 500lux

    • @MinimalDeskSetups
      @MinimalDeskSetups  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using the andriod lux meter app i am getting 545 Lux at max brightness - But that's only at the center of the cone where my keyboard is, if I shift my phone away from the centre of the light cone, it's roughly 200 Lux at the outer edge.

      Thanks Cedric! For my monitor, the lowest point of the monitor bar is actually above the monitor, so it doesn't actually cover the screen at all. In the event that you have a bezel-less monitor, the mount itself will cover roughly 5cm of the monitor at the point which it mounts onto the monitor but that's about it. • @caesix
      @caesix 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johanesraphael2428 hi Johanes, I've bought it around half a year ago and I have enjoyed using it ever since! My monitor is around 1,5 cm thick and that's a perfect fit. I'm sure the clamb would also be able to handle thinner monitors though. From the front end on it also fits perfectly with around a 1-2 mm margin from the display itself, so it does not block any pixels. When placed on top the clamb covers about 7 mm of the screen. So it does depend much on how thin your bezels are if it would cause a problem or not. The functionality of the bar itself is great - dimming and adjusting the hue is done easily with the remote. It emits a pleasant light and for my own use I find that brightness is more than enough and the lowest level of brightness is very reasonable as well. Overal it feels sturdy and it was well worth the money. Personally I bought this particular one as the bar itself is symmetrical, because of the controls and because of the fair price. The only downside I experience, but I believe that would be with lightbars in general, is that even though my reasonably large 27" monitor is on a stand I still find myself looking directly into the light occasionally. That's not a major issue however and it could be resolved by either mounting your monitor higher or by just fixing your composure haha. On the other side, having a bar definitely saves some space on the desk. I hope my response helped and I would definitely recommend buying it ! :)

    Hi Sam - what would you say is more value for money, the XIami Lamp with the additional brightness and colour features (with remote) or the Baesus without?
    The Xiaomi one definitely looks better, but I'm wondering if it is worth the price difference.
    Thanks

    • @MinimalDeskSetups
      @MinimalDeskSetups  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, that would depend on if you're using the light frequently enough to need those things. The remote is a nice-to-have kind of feature and it's also for the asthethics. If you're short on cash and just need something to light up the desk, the baseus will work in most cases. The only thing to be careful about is that the mounting mechanism for the baseus does not work for curved displays and will outright damage them in some cases. Whether or not you need the finer colour temperature control and brightness control comes down to a lot of factors like - whether you wear glasses with blue light filter? whether you take photography on your table? whether you have any other ambient lights etc.. I hope that helps!

    Does monitor light like this really affect and reduce eye strain or just placebo? Honest opinion pls after long term usage. I work and game on my computer daily for long hours in my office area (with 1 long led light in yellow, idk if it's well lit or not, it's quite ok for me). If it really has effect on eye, im definitely gonna try it out. Thankyou for your opinion

    • @MinimalDeskSetups
      @MinimalDeskSetups  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! it depends on the ambient lighting as well. So if you're room was dark or the surrounding isnt well lit, then having a monitor lamp would really help and ease the strain on your eyes. But if the surround is really well lit with natural lighting or other lamps and stuff, then it wouldn't really improve the condiitons that much. Another factor to consider is if you had a desk lamp whether you would get glare from your monitor as well.

      I am getting to this comment really late - I am so sorry. But what I have to say might be important for other viewers. Over a while, there is a chance that the remote might de-pair with the lamp itself.
      To fix this:
      0) Ensure you swap in new batteries for your controller.
      1) detach lamp from magnetic mount - (ensure USB C cable is plugged into the mount)
      2) put the lamp back + at the same time - hold down on the controller!
      The lamp should come to life after this
      Here is a reference video - in this video the guy has the lamp on as default - but you can have it off and it will still work.
