This new suit design for samus is really growing on me
Its like they merged the Power suit with the Zero suit so now we got a thicc Samus

E.M.M.I. are able to extract DNA.
Oh I think I've read an interview where Sakamoto said that the DNA changes might not have been permanent.
Apparently there was apparently word from Sakamoto "Sakamoto: When she absorbed the core of the SAX (the perfect condition of Samus), she basically reconstituted her genetic condition.
Who knows if it will stick tho

I have all Metroid games so I'm familiar with the timeline. And yes, I've seen your Chozo Memories. You've said everything I had in mind. I'm beyond excited that Metroid Dread is finally a reality.

There's also Metroid OtherM on the Wii U virtual console. While it has its problems it's still a solid game and it is basically Metroid 3.5 (since it ties the events of Super and Fusion).

I was so waiting for your take. You were the biggest Metroid geek on here to yet make a statement.
I'm okay with the backgrounds having a muted color palette, the gameplay being readable on a small screen moving fast is more important than every screenshot being packed to the gills with detail. I think they've also been showing us early game areas, you need to give yourself room to ramp up how cool the environments look as you get closer to the climax.
Well, DMC 5 showed scenes of the end game, but we were all still surprised when Nero grew back his arm.

quick "what if" theory
what if, since the galactic feds no longer have access to Metroid DNA (cause fusion shows that they were cloning them to make bioweapons) and samus, having the last Metroid's DNA inside of her to help fight off the X-parasite genes, what if the E.M.M.I's were sent to the planet samus is on to hunt her down and retrieve the DNA by force (cause samus probably wouldn't allow the Metroid's to survive.). it would also explain the extremely brutal way the E.M.M.I's kill samus with their "head prods" which are probably used to drain her blood and use that DNA to use in future Metroid experiments.

It is specified that the Federation sent those robots before Samus went to investigate, so the reason the EMMIs chase Samus is probably linked to the mysterious Chozo

That's a good theory. My initial idea was that since the E.M.M.I's are supposed to take DNA samples from unknown creatures, and samus has Human, Chozo, AND Metroid DNA, causing the E.M.M.I's see her as an unidentified species, so they try to take a sample of her DNA.

@@toamatoro570 I am okay with it as well. Samus Returns is almost as good as AM2R. The graphics are better, but AM2R doesn't have as many gimmicks.

I've been going through YT watching some Metroid videos, and checking out some channels, Dread has awoken the Metroid obsession within me again. Definitely like your channel man, a lot of content to browse for quite some time. Still can't believe this is real.

When they originally announced “Federation Force” it gave me a cool idea that should have been done on the Wii U. I wasn inspired by the fact they could split Samus' abilities into four different characters that happen to be GF troopers, I was also inspired by the character management system of Pikmin 3.
So, basically a team (two humans and two aliens) is stranded in some desolate planner where near their crash site there's a huge complex. As I said this team is basically one Samus so each one has unique abilities that are one quarter of what Samus can do, so one is just beams and missiles, one is the morph ball, etc. It doesn't have to that strict the point is basically to show that Samus isn't really equaled by any one in the GF and so it'd take a squad to do what she can do.
The complex was kinda like the Bottle Ship or BSL station and would have delved deeper into the corrupt side of the Galactic Federation. But of course the player would need to manage each team mate to get through the adventure. I'm not sure of the whole gameplay, but thought it would have been fun!

An FT game made like RC would be awesome. I wonder why it wasn't made that way from the start.

Im surprised how this channel has so much good quality and fun videos with only 37000 subscribers, when it clearly deserves at least one million. Goodness Im sooo stoked over this gaaaame! I may be a day late a dollar short, but have you notice that, starting with very first notes you hear on the reveal trailer and picking up right after the Metroid Dread logo. That the music is actually a remixed mashup of Metroid/Super Metroid's intro music. I was so busy being blown away by the visuals and the actual announcement that I only just picked up on it
With Aeion being an exclusive resource to SR388 that (implied) gave rise to X Parasites and led to the creation of Metroids, it’s interesting to see it present on ZDR. In my mind, the only explanation is that the evil Chozo stole all the Aeion they could then established ZDR. What they planned on doing seems to have failed, considering the ruins on ZDR and gap of time between Chozo being on SR388 and now. There are a lot of genuinely interesting mysteries that crop up with this setting, I’m excited.

You can tell it was originally supposed to be a follow up to Samus Returns. What I've seen looks very similar. That's fine by me though I love that remake! (that x parasite at the end of the credits seems like a nod to what the follow up would have been)

Uh, didn’t Samus destroy the BSL station even though she was ordered to stay put? Don’t think she’d be on good terms with the Federation after that.
Pretty sure she lost her trust in them after learning about the metroid clones though
@@muhammedbadjie1960 not just that but when the federation also learned about the SA-X
exactly. the Federation tried to revive the metroids (I don't buy the explanation that it was for peaceful application, I believe they wanted to weaponize the metroids for themselves), but then learned about the capabilities of the X and SA-X, thinking they could be weaponized too, and started sending their troops and scientists to the BSL station to tame them. Samus, knowing full well that the X parasites were not a force that was gonna let itself be tamed by anything, sent the station on a collision course with SR388.
It just shows that the Federation doesn't really care about if whoever they send out gets killed or not, as long as they get what they want... The Federation should be grateful that Samus prevented a potential apocalypse that would have spread thru the galaxy
@@eric1911a1 yet they have robots that will be willing to kill Samus or imprison her for not doing what they told her to do. You’d think they learn from what happened in Other M (yes I’m using that as an example because it is cannon) but apparently they don’t. Heck even the Chozo couldn’t really control the Metroids after they mutated.

I have called out a lot stuff, between this, the Emmis being re-programmed/controlled by someone, ZDR being chozo origin. Still excited tbh, ppl said I was crazy when I suggested the theory in Chozo Memories and now its real.

My guess is that there is no X parasite on ZDR. I think "someone" wanted to provide bait. It is also very specific that the E.M.M.I are designed to harvest DNA. And as we all know, Samus is now the only source of Metroid DNA in the universe.
Also, smart move making this upcoming game a little more player friendly in the story department. Lord knows Metroid can use all the fan support it can get.

Love your videos, Orpheon! And this one is no exception. I didn't consider that Samus' new suit might actually be the result of it healing itself: when I saw the new design it struck me as either a "containment" enhancement of sorts or extra protection given how weak the Fusion suit was compared to her previous Power suit. Containment in the sense that perhaps to her having acquired Metroid DNA, and the sheer amount of X-Parasites she consumed throughout Fusion, she might have started to mutate (much like the original SR-388 Metroids): so this suit prevents those mutations from spiralling out of control? But I love this idea that her suit is actually regenerating. I had to get used to it at first but it looks incredibly slick and high tech! The blue Fusion suit strands looks so organic (they already tried that out in SR) and I have to say that going for white rather than yellow for the main body looks dope too.
Gah I can't WAIT for this game!!!! 17 years... Ever since finishing Fusion and then Metroid Zero Mission in 2004 have I been dreaming of Dread... As much as Prime 4 excites me, THIS is the game I actually wanted all these years.

This game will most likely tie up all the endless Metroid kidnapping/cloning/weaponizing stories and send Samus on her way to brand new adventures and antagonists. As much as I love the floating murder jelly, this franchise has so much lore and universe that could be expanded without the Metroids... And now we have a guarantee that the story will continue chronologically as well! Not just that, Samus looks like an upper badass in Dread, much as she did in Samus Returns. The way most of us have felt about her over the course of the mainline Metroid and the Prime games is now canonically proven and I love it. MercurySteam might be the saviour this franchise so desperately needed. Regardless, let's rejoice in this "Silver Age" of Metroid. We might not be getting them every year now, but we are getting them! If Dread is real after all, anything is possible :D

@@TheOrpheon no doubt about it man :) Discovered you during the Samus Returns hype, alongside The Geek Critique you are my fave source for Metroid analysis/speculation. Your choice in music is great, I love the running gags (Bird Magic, Just In Time, Crocomire), the chibi art gives the vids so much character and your analyses are always a pleasure to listen to and think about. I don't know Xenoblade but your love for it and brief references add to the charm of the channel. Also, the cheeky pun here and there is the icing on the cake :D
You also have a pleasant voice to listen to, I tend to find the voices of some gamer narrators a bit... annoying 😅 Not the case with you though. So all I can say is keep it up!
It has to be a job now to catch the "flash sale" of a preorder to buy the the Special Edition. I can only hope that they sold out so quickly because there will be more available later on, just like with Samus Returns, which had more preorders about a month after its announcement.
My friend was legitimately surprised when I was freaking out over Metroid dread instead of breath of the wild 2. I had to explain to him that I've been waiting for Metroid dread for almost half my life now.

It'd be pretty cool if you could unlock an option for color picking, either all three plus lights or even if it's just one part. You know, like in Symphony of the Night, where one of the capes Alucard finds is multichromatic that you can change in the pause menu

im hyped as hell but also a bit worried. The changes to the Metroid formula in Fusion were very controversial for a reason, same goes for "Samus Returns". My main worry is that they sacrifice atmosphere to flashy, "modern" gameplay like they did most noticeable with the Ending of Samus Returns (instead of the the way to Metroid Queen being empty, haunting and quiet its filled with enemies and ways to refill health and ammo).
On the other hand, the had almost 20 years time and hopefully noticed the criticism of those games, so i hope they find a good middle ground between atmosphere and action. And even if Metroid Dread wont be the Super Metroid of this decade, im still thankful that we got Metroid 5 at all.

They said during the treehouse that the game will explain what happened to the omega suit, but yeah, I would have loved to keep the omega suit for a while, but I also like this new design
I think that I'll print out just about every frame of the cutscenes to use them as wallpapers.
My theory is that the reason Samus starts underground, is that she goes to ZDR to get help from the Chozo for her suit. IIRC it fused to her, so perhaps she was seeking the Chozo to fix that, so this version of the suit is combination of the Fusion suit, but with new technology that reverts it back to a more normal, removable suit. I think that's why it's a combination of mechanical (old) and organic (new). Either way, I love the design, she looks sick!

What if the Emmi are Chozo? Think about it, they have a similar build to the bird dudes. They can use some of Sammy's abilities going by how a yellow Emmi used the spark thing!
Maybe the Federation came to the Chozo home world and are using the fallen bird folk to make the Emmi, with evil bird man telling them it's ok. Only to turn around and betray them. This could be a three way fight.
The federation wants their Emmi back as well as data on making new Metroids.
Bad bird man wants a new army and wants to take down Samus and the federation.
And Sammy wants to take down both and bring an end to the Metroid threat once and for all.
i'm sure dread will have more vibrant/inspired environements as the game goes on, considering that samus returns had very brown areas a tthe begininng but enviornments got more vibrant and inspired as the game went on

I enjoy that this new suit has the same shoulder lights as the fusion suit from Samus Returns, it is definitely the same one changed somehow
My first thought when I saw that the EMMIs were investigating the X and now have gone rogue, is the X took them over just like they did the security robots on the BSL in Fusion. I totally missed the presence of the Chozo in the quick clip that I saw, though I didn't exactly spend much time combing over it. (Still, I intend to pick it up within a week or two of launch.)
earlier today I was finally able to order a special edition but ten minutes later Walmart told me that I was committing some kind of fraud because their credit and fraud department said gaming is canceled. I had it in my hands and it slipped through my fingers

I didn’t really know about the old Dread until I decided to research the new game. I’m still extremely excited since, you know, it’s the first 2D Metroid in a while.
I know a lot of people didn’t really like a lot of stuff Samus Returns added, but I really liked that game, and I’m excited for all the stuff they’re bringing back and building upon.

The Samus in this game is actually an SA-X that was taken from the BSL Station by the Chozo dude and is being tested on. This is why you start at the bottom of the planet instead of the top like most other Metroid games do, and why the EMMIs are chasing her.
But I can't explain how she talks to Adam.

Funny enough, Nintendo recently confirmed that her Power Suit *is* healing back to its original state after the events of Metroid Fusion.
Orpheon, I thought I remembered them saying the EMI robots were made by the Federation. I kinda hope they were because it's cool seeing Samus deal with the Federation's shady crap. Besides I'm not sure they'd be to happy since she blew up their research station.

Orpheon, it's not called the Dread Suit, it's called the Fusion Suit, but fully reconstructed. Also called the Reconstructed Fusion Suit.

My theory about the new suit is that it's the Fusion Suit but with Federation technology added onto it. They couldn't bring it back up to the Chozo standard, but they at least were able to make it a bit more armored without hindering Samus' movement.
But if this is after events of Fusion.. she wouldn't be on the best terms with the Federation...
