Not just Dr. Dre but even rock bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against The Machine along with other old school rappers/groups like EPMD, Warren G, Digital Underground and so on
The sample you're thinking of is Let Me Ride by Dr.Dre on The Chronic album, the actual name of that part of the song is called "Heartbeat" and Glen Goins does it best live in concert. (R.I.P Mr. Glen Goins thank you for leaving us such dope vocals on a classic funky groove)
I never knew EASTER ISLAND was an actual place until I joined the Navy. The only time we were allowed to over populate the flight deck on our Carrier against all safety regulations was when we were approaching the coast of Easter Island in the South Pacific. Almost 44 years ago and This song was blasted over our P.A. for about 90 seconds.
George is one of the COOLEST Dudes to ever breath oxygen! My very first time seeing a Parliament live show I was on the stage with the whole P-Funk family! 🤟🏽😎🤘🏽
P Funk....Along with James Brown, the most sampled musical act/group of all time. That "Let Me Ride" line you've probably heard it on Dr. Dre's "Let Me Ride." Also, Nate Dogg used it in a line on Warren G's "Regulate." Dre and other producers sampled the hell out of Parliament in the late '80s and throughout the 90s. This is some classic, uncut funk you are hearing. Great stuff.
@@ohioono6636 Indeed, went to see them in Saginaw Mi as a youngin, my older cousin took me and her lil brother. It was wild and we as 12 yr olds had no business being there lol
It would be nice to see you react to the live concert video of the mothership landing on the stage. The world had never seen anything like it to this day. Word
The best live version of this is "P-funk Earth Tour Live 1977" In Houston. "Swing Down Sweet Chariot" Featuring Glenn Goins. Glenn took us to church on this video plus it features one of the first ever "MOTHERSHIP LANDINGS". I can remember seeing this show in Landover, MD. And I was so close to the stage I could have rubbed Dawn Silva's pretty-a** feet !!! The landing is extremely loud !!!
The lyrics "Swing down sweet chariot stop and let me ride" is from an old negro spiritual talking about the chariot of fire that comes down from heaven and picks up Elijah and takes him into heaven at 2 Kings 2:11,12
This is the funkiest band ever created. The baddest musicians on the planet. You have got to stop stopping the flow all the time. West coast jas sampled so much of this band. Dr Dre sound is all Parliament Funkadelic
One of the most original & influential groups in history. If it weren't for them, Dr. Dre's production would've had a completely different sound.
Not just Dr. Dre but even rock bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against The Machine along with other old school rappers/groups like EPMD, Warren G, Digital Underground and so on
That is so interesting
THE BEST OF ALL FUNK BANDS!
Big time!

Dr. Dre's Let Me Ride is the song you're thinking about.
You can't help but to groove to Parliament. They got a serious catalogue
In the late 80's I was introduced to pfunk through hip hop samples. I was 14 and it put me ahead of my time. Thanks for your reaction.
The song has an old school feel to it ... and it sounds so good!🤘🤘🤘
Everything dr Dre did in the 90s was sampled from this group

" Parliament "

She has to stop it or the video gets blocked. It's a necessary annoyance. Lol
If Parliament is not the funkiest band ever created they're within the top 5 bands.....🤘👍
