You describing the game loop as basically incursions where you come back with resources on a somewhat limited time is the closest I'll ever be to playing one of those games. Which means I will absolutely never in my whole life come close to even considering it, but hey, it does sound neat.

I never really liked Amnesia The Dark Descent nor found it to be scary. The moment I realized the game was never going to put me into a position I could not run or hide from all fear went away. I found Dead Space 2 significantly scarier.
This Amnesia seems more in line with what I would want from the series.
