I always appreciate a story about mental health that doesn't rely on the common and unhealthy tropes that such stories tend to.

You'll be happy to know the algorithm recommended this video to me.
Stories like this are always interesting. There are not many video games I know of that handle cults well. I remember Shadowrun: Dragonfall had a party member who turned out to be a cult survivor, but they were worshippers of the horned god and still active. You get to resolve the issue in different ways, which makes sense since it's a CRPG. Maybe check it out sometime.
It's interesting that the bad guy rants against St. Athanasius in the notes you find lying around. He is well respected in the Orthodox Church for his many writings, refuting the heresies of his time, so it only makes sense that a modern-day heretic wouldn't like him either. It shows that the writer really did a lot of research.
Looking forward to your review of Tresspasser!

I once got Sagebrush free from a bundle or event I dont remember what it was, but I installed it expecting nothing, and found one gem of a game.
Loved every second of it, never before had I gotten so unsettled and scared over apparently nothing, somehow it made it work for me.

I discovered your channel earlier this year and I have been hooked on your content. I love playing your videos in the background as I work - both my job and personal projects.

Im a big fan of your content, mate.
Everything is well researched and noicely presented.
Combined with that happy Aussie accent, even if the games are shit, you make it all sound like a fuckload of fun. =)

Hey, let me tell a sad story. I recently discovered your channel with Hitman Codename 47s video and i love your work, so when i look over your last video i found this game, and it looked quite interesting so i bought it on steam.
All that you describe in the video about the feelings that the game produces is nailed, but i had an issue, i couldn't find the flashlight. That simple issue butchered the entire experience for me, since i found out when i was going down to the mines. Yup, i couldn't go back outside since the power left, and i was stuck down there.
So i had to look for a guide to help me see something and go back outside, then pick up the flashlight. But once i did all of that obviously the inmersion and atmosphere just vanish, so i decided to refund the game, without even finish it.
Then i came back to your video, and boy i would love to have experienced that plot twist by myself. I guess i just had bad luck, or maybe if the developer didn't make the choice of droping the flashlight in some random place that doesn't even appear in the map (i mean, it shows a brown square, but the shelter is not labeled), i don't know...
Anyway, thanks for reading me out. Once again, i love what you do, and i am happy that i found about this game regardless of my crappy experience.

That's a shame. I agree the torch could've been made more obvious to pick up.

Great game and I picked it up for £0.49 on PS Store so an absolute steal. However not implementing inverted Y-axis option made it very frustrating for me as I have to actively think how I look around which broke the immersion for me at times. I also think if the dev went for the deliberately lo-fi 3D aesthetic then a 4:3 aspect ratio would have worked better as would some CRT overlay to smoothen the graphics a bit. A game with this style of graphics when played on a big screen in a living room setting tends to be a bit grating on the senses to be honest. This is nit-picking though, the game is great.

Wild to see someone covering this. Yeah, I picked this up because I liked Nate Berens' video essay on Myst. Now, that seems like a pretty stupid reason to support anyone, but to that I would say that I have to spend my drug money somewhere.
