Racing An Enduro Without Any Training

  • Can I hang with some of the top US enduro MTB racers without doing any training beforehand? I used to race Downhill MTB professionally, but these days I spend more time making Mountain Bike Tutorials and sitting behind a computer. I've done one Enduro race several years ago on a bike that wasn't suited for it, it didn't go well. Now that I have the right bike, maybe things will go better?

      Fitness is and training is way more important in Enduro than downhill. The flatter the courses the harder you have to work and lots of those guys spend a lot of time training for sustained power, which I don't do. I've done some in the past, but it's not fun and it made me not enjoy riding.

    • @stephancobb13
      @stephancobb13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkillsWithPhil i agree. With Downhill gravity takes over where u hardly do any pedaling. When riding on flat surfaces i would think u would get out of breath faster. By the way how would u train for enduro racing n downhill?

    I've watched one of Phils vid and was amazed. I watched another one and was again amazed. After some more I noticed that he do well know when pro Riders (as him), are somewhere where he can join them for a ride - then he acts like "a simple rider" when he gets first contact - and while riding, he starts to push them an adding some extra little "jumps, wheelies, manuals* while riding, also he does such sounds like *hihi" to let it shine like a easy funny ride. Well, you are so talented, and somehow it looks to me like you have to show that you are "better as" - why? You are a kind guy, I like your vids and your skills - that part just let it look a bit "strange" - ?? In another video where Phil rides with anoter pro-rider a double black diamond line, Phil slips of on a flat section and the pro uses that opportunitiy to do a little remark " he asks Phil for his name, and what day it is and where they are*, and then he says that they did the hard lines without any crash, but now Phil goes to ground on a flat section - and Phil did not like that at all, he did a strange "cut out" on that video and talked in a way that its hard to understand him arguying over that questioning from the pro" - Narzistic or ADHD in a light way, or whats is the reason for all that "comparision with pro's", since you are a pro you self? How ever, good rides :-)

    • @bastonyx
      @bastonyx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Last remark, he do well know the most trails where he rides with those pro's "coincidently". He knows the trails better than many others, the titles of the videos already show a bit of what I mean "riding on a single crown with pro's, riding on a enduro bike dowhnill, riding without training a race with pro's" since you are able to ride those crazy hard lines, what's the clue?" - btw, they look to still better than you.

    Just throw in a little log ride.. and some fun manuals.. Favorite parts!! Looks like everyone was just holding you up, time for time I think you'd be #1 at least the full downhill runs.
