    Hi Lisa. Praying that whatever is happening in your life, you know that you are loved 🥰. Noticed that you haven’t posted in a while and watched this episode. I also read the comments. It’s disappointing to say the least. I also see a whole lot of love for you here too. As a long time watcher of your videos and fellow grey lady, know that what you have to say is important and meaningful to those who are open to receiving it.
    After the end of a traumatic 13 yr relationship, I moved to the Midwest and started over on a very tight budget. After I arrived here in June, my body really broke down and I lost 2/3 of my hair, which is down to my waist. I know it is my thyroid as I previously had issues with it. I also lost about 40 pounds, leading up to my leaving CA and moving here. I turn 65 in February so I’ve got my appointments lined up to figure things out medically.
    Just know that I love and support you so much. I want you to know something else. Remember your video on alcohol and not metabolizing it well? I wrote you a long comment because you were the first person who understood what that was like and I can’t tell you how positive your video was to my life. I made the decision that I wouldn’t bother with alcohol at all and I haven’t had a drink since then. God bless you for being there and providing that insight. You need to know that the good you do is important, even if there is a percentage of people out there who live to make other people sad. I hope this message reaches you and I will pray for your healing, strength and grace. Love to you!!! 🥰🥰🥰

    I think what I’m seeing is damage from bleaching, because from the scalp to the mid shaft, your hair looks healthy enough to me. I am a hairstylist and I dont think there is a treatment that will make that Hair rebound. Probably need to have it layered and cut a little shorter. Thank you for sharing your journey!🙏❤️

    A few tips coming from a retired hairdresser and a person with Long thick hair. How I achieved that is by not coloring my hair and using as little heat products as possible. I also wash my hair at the most twice a week focusing shampoo on root area and conditioning mid shaft to ends. Try to limit how much you put in tight buns or ponytails.

    I do not have Hoshimoto's disease, but I do have thinning hair after COVID. My daughter also complained about her thinning, damaged hair. My daughter extracted Rosemary oil from her Rosemary plants. She puts this on her scalp. It has really made a difference in her hair growing out. I am going to try this as well guys. I will let you know and show the results after I do this. Thanks, Lisa for all of your insight on this disease as it will certainly help someone else who may be suffering. Unfortunately, you HAVE to be your own advocate for your health. We do deal with doctors that are also human and we ALL make mistakes.

      I started to have big problems with my hair thinning out like on my sides. That section that is kinda under but it covers your ears (I hope you understand what i mean). So when you have your hair to the front those are like your front pieces. The rest of my hair is thick and healthy yet those pieces are thinning out so badly. If i want to remove those thin parts then i would literally have to cut off it to my ear length (I guess kinda like it's in a mullet). The problem is that at first i thought that it's just damaged. It's not split tho. It just gradually gets thinner and thinner towards the bottom. I don't know if i should just gradually trim those pieces till it grows out thicker again or what? Can someone give me an advice?

    I’m a Hashimotos sufferer too but also a hairstylist. Your breakage will be down to bleaching and not your thyroid disorder. Hair loss and breakage are very different to one another.
    I went through a similar journey to you and even though I used Olaplex and all high quality products but eventually over time my hair did break unfortunately.
    Do remember to use a heat protector too if you’re using hot styling tools. 🥰

    • @Beachbreeze707
      @Beachbreeze707 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Serendipity-gj2me Yes Hashimotos does/can cause your hair to fall out. As Amanda said hair, loss and breakage are two different things Lisa’s hair is healthy after she cut it that’s from bleaching it. I am also a hair stylist and it takes a very long time to heal your hair after bleaching and coloring. Especially bleaching, gray hair. She’s very fortunate. All her hair didn’t fall out. If I remember right the last time she went gray all her hair fell out from bleaching.

      Autoimmune issues can cause the body to attack and shrink the follicles. When the hair shaft is alot finer, unfortunately thats what causes the breakage.

    • @Beauty101byLisa
      @Beauty101byLisa  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you for your opinion. My hair was not bleach damaged when it started breaking and falling out in handfuls from the root. Once I had my thyroid medication adjusted, my hair stopped breaking and falling out. This took almost 2 months to balance my thyroid... Hair loss from hypothyroidism happens because the abnormal thyroid function destabilizes the natural hair regrowth cycle. A primary root cause of hair loss is a deficiency in thyroid hormone. This could be because you’re not getting a high enough dose of thyroid medications, or because you’re not getting the right kind of thyroid medication. Your hair is likely to appear thin and sparse all over, though people can experience hair loss differently. Hair regrowth is possible once treatment starts and hormone levels are normalized.

    I have hashimotos too and I’m also going through menopause (aged 48), which quite often occur together due to the hormonal changes. I have super thick hair so didn’t really notice the thinning but when you mentioned the hair fall, I realise now it is affecting my hair as I’m constantly finding hair everywhere. I’ve also got super dry hair (even though I treat it like spun gold) and have noticed the nape area is brittle and broken. I’ve been using K18 and olaplex no 6 and 7 and it’s made such a difference. I also use coconut oil and olive oil as a hair mask before washing and have been massaging in rosemary oil onto my scalp. Thanks for being honest, it really does make a difference to be able to relate to other people. I’ve recently changed my diet and I’ve been concentrating on having a higher protein diet and cutting down on sugar and carbs as I read it helps with both hashimotos and menopause. ❤

    I also feel ho your feelings as I took have been diagnosed with under active thyroid too and it makes you feel fatigue and your hair dose fall out constantly and lucky for me I was blessed with thick hair so I've had this condition for 30 years and it's horrible your hair feels brittle and damaged alot off the time due to the under active thyroid condition and I'm so scared to put bleach on my hair because of it so finding your videos to go blonde with out bleach is very hopeful for myself as I took am naturally dirty fair with greys through it so I will definitely try this process for sure I really would love to have as much energy as you have your amazing and your positivity in your personality shines through I would also like to tell you that my last trip to my consultant which checks my thyroid every year has given me great news and it's a miracle that they taking me off my thyroid treatment to check to see if my own body would re start this thyroid hormone again and after 30 years off been on those tablets my body has started to make this hormone again so don't give up hope that you yourself my also start to make this hormone naturally again so don't give up hope I am 54 now but as I say I was diagnosed 30 years ago with this disease and it dose take a toll on your hair your leaving you feel very tired and low mood and fog brain also but at least you know now what it is
    I wish you all the very best and I just want to say it's lovely to hear you talk about it openly and you send a lot off positively vibes and I thankyou so much for sharing your videos and also making awareness out there for people could be having the same symptoms and I know it will take alot off energy out off you doing these videos just want to say how greatful thankyou so so much godbless ❤️

    I thought you were gone for good! Glad to see you back and feeling better. My sister had a thick head of dark brunette hair and she did have a few caramel highlights on the crown and a few around her face. One day she started seeing her hair all over the place....bathroom, bedroom, den, you name it was everywhere! She went to the doctor had a blood panel work up and he put her on synthroid immediately. She hasn't had any problems since.

    Hi Lisa I think you are absolutely amazing! Just want to throw this out there due to personal experience….if you happen to have breast implants this “diagnosis” of hashimotos is so common. They tell everyone that their thyroid is compromised but it’s actually the breast implants that are causing the hair loss due to systemic inflammation caused by the implants. After women are explanting all of these symptoms including thyroid and “hashimotos diagnosis “ magically disappear. Thank you for your videos they have been so helpful. I’m in the process of transitioning to grey and it’s a real thing lol.

    As someone with Hashi’s I pretty much figured that was part of the issue when I saw your temples thinning (miniaturizing hair) and heard you talk about your other symptoms - have tried to offer advice in the past - but it seemed like you needed to go through your own journey to figure that out. Often the issue is both thyroid and sex hormones.
    For me the temple / hairline thinning / receding is the hardest to deal with because it makes a side part harder to pull off well and completely changes your face shape. Everyone is different but I’ve found some things that help me- happy to share if interested.
    Btw, Lisa - you don’t need to always have answers or solutions and be helping and inspiring people, don’t force yourself to play that role - your audience doesn’t need that from you and it actually flatten the connection, IMO. You can just be, and just be in the middle of struggling with something and trying to figure out what the solution is - that’s perfectly fine. A lot of us are struggling too and know how difficult it can be to figure things out.

    To help with hosimoto’s hair loss I had to reduce my caffeine, alcohol, sugar, already celiac, so no wheat. Just basically stop stressing my body out. I use a rosemary spray on my roots daily to reduce hair loss. Just simmer 3-4 sprigs of rosemary in 2 c of water, I brought to a light boil then put the lid on and let it cool down. Put in a spray bottle and spray on the roots daily. Works really well. I saw immediate stop of hair loss. Good to see you again. Your videos disappeared off my watch list.

      I understand thyroid levels. Your new growth does not look like your ends. Thyroid Issues would not just be on your ends. It would be with your new growth.You know it can take up to four years after bleaching to repair especially gray hair. I do believe Hashimoto does change our hair. It can cause premature graying. It can cause brittle and dry hair but it affects the scalp the whole head. Not just the ends.I also believe a lot of problems is due to so many women deciding not to wash their hair regularly and seeing how long they can go without having a clean scalp. Putting too many products on their heads then not washing their scalps for days.❤

  • @MiriamLopez-v5f
    @MiriamLopez-v5f ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Hi Lisa. Im sorry for the issues you’re having. I say this with love because you’re so sweet and beautiful. Hair coloring bleach hair products, ( even good) heating tools, drying curling, straightening, combing, brushing experimenting hair changes they all do so much damage. We have to let our natural oils do the softening and smoothing and not weigh it down over what our hair wants to do. It suffocates the strands and causes damage and frizz and dryness. We need to just chill on our hair. Check and see what all goes on your hair and how often it’s done and what tools are used and how often. Take collagen ( vital peptides in your liquids and just be kind to your hair. Scrunch most of the time instead. I know our bodies wouldn’t want constant aggravation or potions on our skin. I hope this helps and I hope you are well soon. The cut fits you perfectly.

My doctor has Hashimoto’s as well and she keeps up with checking mine as well as keeping up with my symptoms. I’m pretty evened out on 90 mgs twice daily of Nature Throid prescription. She halved it to one 90mg daily because my heart going into palpitations and I started feeling tired, my skin started getting dry and I started losing hands full of hair, I felt awful and my hair was all over my bed, bathroom and house! She upped it back to two 90 mgs a day and my energy is coming back and hopefully my hair will start growing back. The struggle is real.❤️

    I've been dealing with Hashimoto Thyroid issues for 25 years. I also can't take the thyroid generic brands, which means my thyroid medicine is extremely expensive. I'm 74 live on a fixed income so I had to ask my doctor to double my dose so I can cut the pills in half which saves me money. This is what I know coloring your hair is not good. Trust me I've learned by experience. Finally, I've decided if I want hair, it's far better to have healthy natural silver hair then damaged bleached/dyed hair which was breaking off and falling out like crazy. Biotin/collagen/Walmart brand Minoxidil has helped me. Lisa, I've watched you for years, you are gorgeous inside and out!! The best thing about having your natural ( or, near to natural) hair color is being able to part your hair anywhere and not having to worry about the roots. You must be my soul twin as far as hair color goes- I am currently working my way back to blonde just to have less noticeable white roots. Like you, I can pull off most any color! After blonde, it was red. After red, it was brown, but a bit too dark. Having removed a lot of color, it currently is a light reddish golden brown. Gonna remove more color in a few days- letting it rest .⬅️ …so I don’t have to trim it again. Yes, I have fried my hair with bleach many times. Seems like I would learn, doesn’t it

      Excellent points especially re: vitamin D3! Just found out magnesium helps with uptake as well. Unfortunately vegan diets lack B12 therefore more difficult to maintain proper levels....supplementation is a must!

      @@Beauty101byLisa Hi Lisa! We all care about you so thanks for being open to suggestions & sharing so much of your life with us! The standard recommendations for D3 levels are actually too low so if you're above 50 that's a very good thing! As another poster mentioned, you should always take D3 with K2....lots of info online, has to do with calcification. Big hugs & lots of love! ❤️

    I have an autoimmune disorder (not Hashimoto's) and when I'm out of remission I have a lot of hair fall...clumps! I'm in remission under a great treatment regimen, while I have also not colored or highlighted my hair since I was diagnosed. That is critical!! Wash every 4 to 5 days or more if you can stand it and treat your hair extremely gently. Mine is now growing like crazy!

    Glad your starting to feel better, as for myself I am taking a break (for a few hours) from all that is going on right now in the world, I need a little lightness. That being said please pray for my family that is still in Israel, my sons and I here in America are so frightened - we are trying to figure out if we should return and fight for the life of our country.

    I'm not sure if you have Breast implants or not but Breast Implant Illness has some similar symptoms. I was losing so much of my hair and it was breaking off. I am now 2 years post implant removal and my hair stopped breaking and falling out and has grown back.

    Lisa, your hair is stunning! I am always amazed at how thick your hair is! Thanks for sharing your Hashimoto’s journey with us. I am a little bit older than you & have struggled with health issues. I have found that sometimes doctors won’t listen to me because I look healthy & younger than my age. I do find that eating protein & fresh foods, taking daily walks & stretching & having a positive outlook are important to maintaining health. I try to minimize stress (although there are always life stressors). I think you are doing great. You have been thru a lot in the past few years & all of the changes can create stress within us. It sounds like you are doing well! 💛

    I remember when I started watching you, you were going through a divorce. Now I’m going through something very similar. You are an inspiration I know I’ll get through to the other side like you did. Thank you 😊
