    I’ve been waiting for this one! The same thing with e4 is also hopefully planned because I’ve been struggling with finding an opening I love against 1.e4. I always prefer for white to play d4 on the first move, so I hope this sort of video is also made for e4 to help. Thing’s like the Lion’s Defense, Pirc, Scandi, Caro, French. I’d like to hear his ten.

      Hey! Eventually we will make a video on the top 10 chess openings for black against e4! I'll drop some links to some of the chess opening videos we've done that will hopefully be helpful for you. You already mentioned some of the mainline openings, but it sounds like you want something more unique. Here are a few rare chess openings for black that aren't played as often but are still very strong! Hopefully there's one you like!
      Hippopotamus Defense - th-cam.com/video/amKYfoMZSLw/w-d-xo.html
      Elephant Gambit - th-cam.com/video/W6aWEFLzJDQ/w-d-xo.html

      Stafford Gambit - th-cam.com/video/BypdB6nIRRo/w-d-xo.html
      I hope this helps! If you do want to look more into the mainline chess opening options, here are a few more of the videos we've made.

      We hope to make an e4 playlist soon! We are getting closer and closer, one step being the Pirc Defense (which you mentioned) which premieres in a couple days - here is the link. Hope you've been well my guy.

    Mate, your videos serve as a Kickstarter to learn any opening. They help ignite the fire to learn and dive deeper into openings. Thanks for these videos and helping me save tons of handwork and time that'd have gone into research.
    PS- your thumbnails are really enticing. The color scheme and pictography are creatively attractive👌🏻

    Very good video. Especially enjoyed the review of the exchange variation of the Gruenfeld defense all the way thru the middle game into the endgame showing that with consistent pressure white’s center and/or queenside (or more likely both!) fall apart. Well done!

      @@TheChessGiant I’ve been a lifelong Pirc and King’s Indian player but lately haven’t been having as much fun with them and finding my positions a bit stale. I play the Vienna Game with white (going for the Vienna Gambit if I can) and favour more open, imbalanced games with attacking chances. The Dutch and the Benoni (not sure which variation) are both looking pretty appealing right now, but I’d love to hear you advice of you’re willing to give me some thoughts!

      @@hugocruz2439 Cool! At the moment it's 2078 for USCF. My peak was 2163 back when I was 14 years old. However, I kinda stepped away from chess for awhile because I was playing basketball year round. Anyways, I played in a tournament every once in awhile for about a decade but my rating steadily dropped. Been playing more recently though as I just retired from college hoops. Would love to make a push for 2200 but we shall see. It's really hard. Do you play in OTB tournaments?

    3:55 what if white plays pawn-c3?

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question! There's a number of different directions we can go there. We can capture the pawn and then play d5 or Nf6, we could also play d5 right away... a lot of it simply comes down to preference and playing a position that you feel comfortable with.
