@@DemonSlide "Vitalogy" was definitely a dark, and (dare I say) very strange album. I mean that last track....wtf was that about? lol Songs like "Last Exit", "Not For You", "Nothingman", "Better Man" and "Immortality", do make Vitalogy pretty good though.
I listened to Ten and Vs. last weekend (it had been a while) and really with these two albums I think the band was at a spot where they had caught lightning in a bottle. Both albums are sooo good and the music and feel are so rich. They had a four-ish year run ('91-'93) where they were just an amazingly creative and interesting rock n roll band.
Sa*weet! I got an invaluable 1977 penny I'd be willing to trade for it, but you gotta act fast. Given too much time to ponder I'll probably change my mind.
I was in highschool, and it was the first and only time I went to a record release at midnight. When we all watched Pearl jam show up late and destroy the MTV music awards was my Beatles on Sullivan moment. What was the album cover about?.....my parents gave me strange looks and questions do to that picture. Lol
Ten came out , didn’t think it could be bettered, V’s did just that , both absolutely flawless.I think Pearl Jam set the bar with the greatest run of flawless albums in succession Ten - V’s- Vitalogy - No code and Yield.
Tbh I've always thought Vs was better then Ten. But Vitalogy has both of those albums beat. Vitalogy is my #1 favorite by PJ. Vs is up there in my top 5
Some of my favourite songs are from vitalogy, but when you take away the obnoxious filler "tracks" there only like 8 or 9 actual songs on it. It's much lower down my rankings of their albums because of that. I don't have to skip multiple tracks when I listen to Ten, vs or Yield, no code. I think as an album vitalogy was deliberately sabotaged and could have been so much better. Still, some absolute killer songs on it.
hey man i really enjoy your youtube videos a lot. I want to see this chanel grow so here's a tip . upload 2 shorts a day if possible just talking about an interesting fact about a song / band or person and it doesn't have to be a lot of effort just be consistent. Your traffic to your channel will grow exponentially . I hope ya read this and really think about it as the shorts algorithm is very easy to exploit right now so good videos shoot up very fast . good luck man ~!
Does anyone know where I could find that version of Indifference that was played in the video, it sounded amazing and I just wanna know where I can play that
Musicians shouldn't feel this need to be nausiatingly poetic for every answer to a journalist interns' question. Veder sounds like he's trying to write lyrics even when he's ordering a cheeseburger 🍔
It should have been clear Dave A wasn't going to last in the band once Eddie said he hated the Site and Dave loved recording there. Two completely different approaches.
That interview with the girl asking about the vinyl was rough man. Jeff held him together as much as he could but man Eddie was being such a dick to that sweet kid. Dw guys I love Vedder but that was really awful the way he out in that accent and acted all weird and I’m shocked that he’d actually do that.
Why bother recording songs that you don't want other people to hear/sing along to/ have become familiar to the masses. This mindset is completely ridiculous, and in hindsight, Vedder sounds like a fool. And I love these guys.
It’s actually mind blowing that all mortal bands/musicians out there would kill to have just one semi hit song and Vedder was like this song I wrote is gonna be to big and popular I don’t want to put it out 🐐 status
No question Dave A. was the X factor on this album. But the megalomaniac at the helm couldn't handle someone that couldn't be controlled. Letting go of Dave Abbruzzese proved that certain drummers are irreplaceable. You just can't "plug" another drummer in their place. IMO the band never recovered and wallows in mediocrity to this very day. Nice going, Veddie!
Just saw them with Matt Cameron a few weeks ago they sound amazing love Dave A drumming they but he’s replaceable literally replaced him with 2 diff drummers and kept on keeping on and Riot Act is the best Pearl Jam album in my opinion
@@davis2k1234 Don't take my word for it. Read the comments on any video that involves Dave A. The vast majority of comments admit he was their best drummer (by far). Rarely in rock has a drummer driven a band as well as Dave A. did on Vs and Vitalogy. Not to mention the live performances. Every remake he did of a song on Ten is better than the original (sorry Dave K.). MC is perfectly suited for a band like Soundgarden, especially with his odd time signatures, etc. But, what do I know...
@@victorb.1356 I agree with you and all the others that seem to all say Dave A was the best drummer PJ ever had. I didn’t see PJ live til after he was gone but sure he was the best live also but the slights to Vedder and the albums after Vitalogy is were all of you just plain wrong he was replaced and the band still put out amazing music and live shows I’d argue Yield Binaural and Riot Act are there 3 of the best albums all in my top 5
Just can't get into this album for some reason.. the mix sounds off, songs feel unfinished or unrefined. Vitalogy, Yield and Binaural all blow this one out of the water for me.
I remember buying this album on cassette as a teenager and being really disappointed. So overrated. I should have bought Nevermind or STP Purple rather, even though I had a bootleg.
I don't know know how you could be disappointed. All 3 are great and classic albums and I had all and wouldn't have been disappointed with any of them. But this is the best PJ release. So many great songs. Reviewmirror is one of my favorite songs of all time.

One of the greatest sophomore albums of all time
Agreed.
Totally goes against the sophomore slump trend.
Pearl Jams best album front to back such a diverse album. And don't even get me started on Dave's drumming on this album wish they kept him in the band
He was the X factor and everyone fucking knows it!
I’m with you. When Dave left I think they lost an edge they never got back.
Their best album in my opinion. Before Vedder took the reigns musically. The best songs seemed to all start with a good Goddard riff in the past.
Actually ed took the lead in this album, the sound difference compared to ten is huge

I concur! What an EPIC album.

But I gotta admit "Vs" is a masterpiece as well

Great follow-up to TEN. Just a shame that "Alone" did not make the album. One of PJ's best songs.
Yes! Still one of my cherished CD's. I bought the single from Tower Records. They had an import section. I love that song.
Still have a copy of the album on cassette tape with FIVE AGAINST ONE the original title on it.
Got the ttape somewhere, I need to check it

Something I would like to ask anyone from the band is why the band went from grunge to a more ballad and alternative sound in future albums.
It happened because what was once Stone & Jeff's band became Eddie's band. They lost me after that.
