The story of Fred MacCarthy is inspiring and reveals the determination of a visionary who has set is goals at tackling poverty in Africa. He is not only a dreamer, but a doer, who is educating other children to grow food through food gardens in his community of Brits in the North West of South Africa.
He is 12 years old and is already running a two-hectare sized family farm where he is farming broiler chickens and various vegetable crops.
His 2024 plans include developing a farm business where people can come experience farm living and play with what he calls "Big Toys" used in farming.
