This top 8 consists of Melty Blood player, Guilty Gear players, Persona 4 Arena player, Mortal Kombat player, BlazBlue player, Marvel player and Street Fighter player.
DBFZ brings everyone in the FGC together.
I'm new to the FGC, so who was who? I know Sonic Fox played Mortal Kombat at least.
GO1 had own the Melty blood scene for 10 years (and various anime fighters)
Kazunoko is known for his achievements in Street fighter (Won Capcom cup 2015) and Guilty gear.
Dogura had a lot of success in Blazblue (Evo 2014 finalist) , Guilty gear and street fighter.
Moke is known as the best Rashid player in Japan (Street Fighter).
Momochi is known for street Fighter (Won Capcom cup 2014, Evo 2015 etc...)
Nakkiel is a US Blazblue top player
Chris G has won pretty much every title available in "Marvel vs Capcom 3" (including Evo)
Sonic Fox is mostly known for NRS games (Injustice and MK) and a bit of MVCI,
but his ability in 3vs3 game actually come from his background as a Skullgirls Player.
You forgot Justin Wong. The guy that won 9 EVOs in MvC

GO1 made good his promise to take down Sonicfox, and the trash talks leading up to this battle was so hype, but Sonicfox was no slouch either (although the ft10 was pretty free). GO1 might be calculative, but Sonicfox is HELLA CLUTCH. I also loved how a Japanese initiated the trash talk, which initially shocked me because it was something rarely heard of, knowing the Japanese reputation and all. Sonicfox is not far behind, and I'm so looking forward for more epic rivalries like this one.

This has been hands down the best DBFZ set of all time (thus far)! This has been the most legendary battle of DBFZ. The set was literally real life anime. I'm not a fan of the show. I don't watch it. But based on the level of hype build-up on the Goku vs Jiren showdown, I can say Sonicfox vs Goichi was the IRL equivalent!
Few people can appreciate what we witnessed here today. We're talking about Sonicfox, King of NRG games, vs Goichi, King of the Anime Fighters. Sonicfox, the man from the Western Hemisphere, from the USA, vs GO1 Goichi, man from the Eastern Hemisphere, from Japan. The undoubtedly two best players in the world---two legends on the opposite sides of the world had been preparing to fight each other. These are literally 2 gods----from their own separate universes---who were able to face off against each other in this amazing DBFZ game. How crazy anime-like is that?
You could not have asked for a more hype Grand Finals set(s).
I really look forward to what this game entails in the future. I also really look forward to seeing a rematch between Sonicfox and Goichi.

AMAZING SET!!!! And Sonicfox beat Moke, Kazunoko, and even 3-0'd Dogura before Grand Finals so it has nothing to do with Japan. GO1 had his number this weekend but it's gonna be a long game life I can't wait to see the future battles!!!!

in the number one player's hands, any character is viable. vegeta just requires fundamentals to be playable, like playing Ryu or ken he's as good as you can make him, so in your average tournament players hands, he isn't that good (on point I mean, Vegeta assist is S+ tier.)

This set went way beyond the hype, simply amazing! Come to think of it, maybe it was good for go1 to be sent down to losers as he was clearly way too nervous to start off the afternoon against player of dogura’s caliber, a couple matches there against weaker competition eventually help him to gather himself and get his game feels back.
Haze S yeah dogura is certainly no push over, but go1 was visibly nervous to begin the day and it showed in his play. I think it’s when he faced kazunoko when he’s really loosen up and playing up to his potential
cokechang I agree, it's astonishing how he managed to make a comeback after losing to Dogura. He looked quite disheartened when he started his fight with Kazunoko but he slowly regained momentum. I do think there were times he was really nervous against Sonicfox too especially with 16 not giving him a chance to get too comfortable in some of the games but overall Go1 was awesome. Great to see him win.
Dogura and Go1 always play each other, Cyclops Osaka always have small turney every weekends or so and before this, Go1 always wins when he face Dogura

Prime is too stuck on SF's nuts. Even at the end he kept praising the man who just lost instead of even mentioning Goichi. Saying people had stupid reasons for not liking Sonic Fox, which had /nothing/ to do with the end result or the winner. No human being likes everyone, period.

what's crazy to me is, I remember watching Go1 stream when he first got his hands on the game. He was completely newb. Lots of people had played on beta and knew what to do. Go1 was figuring out the buttons. And now he is the champion, wow.

Jose Fernandez That's EVO, the biggest tournament in the world you dipshit. This is way smaller in comparison. When they hosted SF5 it only got around 20k at it's peak. Tekken peaked at 33k FighterZ got 52k. I won't be suprised if FighterZ gets 200k viewers when EVO comes around. Hell, it already has the most evo entrants already lmao. FighterZ is on top whether you like it or not.

I don't get all the Sonicfox haters at all. You people hating on him for losing to arguably the best DBZ player? No matter what the win ratio was, it could be 10-0 for all I care, GO1 was still the only player to beat Sonicfox there, and you guys acting like he was weak at the game. "Dogura put up a better fight against GO1?" Well Sonicfox still won against Dogura. Where's your argument for that? At the end Sonicfox was still the second-best player there, it doesn't matter how much you guys hate on him. The result was, Sonicfox won against every player against him except GO1. Disrespecting Sonicfox is basically disrespecting every player he beat, so keep your hater's hate to yourself and give the man some respect.
And also, people who are saying that Sonicfox could only get to where he got with Android 16 on his team, just remember this. No one took a gun to the other players to force them to use the characters they used. No one said only Sonicfox could use 16. What's wrong with players using the characters that gives them the highest chance of winning in a pro tournament? If you still disagree at this point, bring your ass to a pro tournament with 16 and we'll see how fast you get beaten.

Batman Sonicfox is a great player, I don't hate him at all but I feel as though Dogura still had slightly better neutral. The only reason he lost imo was because he wasn't exactly using his super moves as much as he should be doing at some points and because of 16 being an insanely ridiculously character to deal with his dunk loops and command grabs. I also feel as though he was really careless with defense when compared to his other fights in top 32. I really want to see them both fight again, it'll be a lot more interesting.
Haze S It doesn't matter why he lost. The result was Sonicfox won against Dogura. Nothing else matters. Bringing in things like "he was careless" or "his defense could be better" basically means the same thing could be applied to Sonicfox's game against GO1. Rather than finding reasons for Dogura's loss, people should be focusing on why Sonicfox won. And instead of hating on Sonicfox for losing, people should just respect the both of them, GO1 for winning and Sonicfox for getting to second place, only losing to GO1. Anyone who says so otherwise are either just haters or not looking at the bigger picture. Sonic could be playing like absolute trash, if he got to 2nd place and won against all the other players, who cares? People have a problem with that? Join the next tourney and punish Sonicfox for being weak and for playing like trash. Otherwise stop hating guys.

Everybody is saying Go1’s A.Gohan is the problem or Vegeta Assists helps him win, while these statements are true I think Cell is the True Mvp of his team Cell is good support for gohan, builds a lot of meter, deals amazing damage and really a match up nightmare for Sonicfox’s Hit and Black (also 16 is clearly the best character in the game)

Why is Gohan & Cell combos so long?
I don't play this game. I just noticed they can loop for a very long time compared to other characters.
Kai-Zer Inc. Just their hit properties combined with the game coded for combos only being allowed up to 10 seconds before its a force tech
A lot of characters have longer combos. Most just can't do them in tournament settings due to execution difficulty.

1. That was the hypest match in the fgc
2. People can now stop saying Sonic can't hang with Japanese players, its no longer a remark that exist.
3. This was not free by any means
