Thanks Alex, this and the air brakes video is a tremendous help, by watching these two videos and learning it just as he said word for word helped me to pass my class A test. If any of you are currently in school, watch these videos religiously, and learn them word for word and it's guaranteed that you will pass the examination for Swift. I didn't read any material as far a s air brakes and pretrip, I just used these videos, learned them, kept writing them down until I knew them and I passed these two portions with no problems.
I've watched this video over and over till, I could pass that test. Went to Fontana swift school and Alex was the trainer, pass that test with flying colors. Been driving otr over 5 years now, Thanks Alex
When doing a pretrip for the state test the truck must be turned off and all lights off. Now when actually doing a pretrip, obviously the lights will be on. The trucks that do the state test have already been pretriped by the examiner or the instructor.
I had the whole pretrip inspection down like this guy and when I went to do my driving test at the dmv in new Jersey the examiner told me I know you have studied on everything on the pretrip I want to see you drive and only told me to do the air brake leak down test and interior I didn't have to do the exterior pretrip Made it a lot faster lol
Thanks to Alex, replaying the video with ear phones on REALLY HELPED A Lot!! I passed my Pre trip and air break test with flying colors! Thank you Alex for the video!!!
16:36 those are just rods or bars according to google. The "ties" in the cdl manual at the appropriate section are referring to any cord type material as seen in the included list "straps, chains, and binders are secure."
When I first saw this I thought man this is a lot to remember but now that I been saying the same stuff for about a month I can see where he missed some stuff. He called the mud flap a splash guard. And it really doesn’t take so long to do. I test tomorrow and I’m READY!!!
Truck had Indiana plates, trailer had Oklahoma plates. Take notes. Apple is a California company and makes their phones in China. In addition they do payroll out of Reno, Nevada. Same as Tesla. Swift/knight are the largest ground logistics company because they make smart investment decisions not emotional ones.
Dang, maybe you should have studied the pretrip for whatever company that you went with, this is good for Swift, although he forgot to mention one or two details, but I already knew to mention those so I was fine.
He did miss a few details, such as the steps can hold my body weight, the glad hands are at a 90 degree angle, the airbags are called “air bellows” the examiner may not except the former.
Be me: watching video to learn inspection process. Also me: decides to type it out on my galaxy note of all the things i have to check during the inspection for future reference. Also me: i didint quite think this through and will not be doing this again.
Make sure the trailers don't have lots of damage as swift drivers are known for lol Even on top of the roof as they try to drive under a 12 ft tunnel lol
Steering Wheel Is Frantically Turning Some guy with some kind of weird accent that talks so fast you can't understand half of what he saying. Now I know why these swift drivers turn out this way. Notice he's wearing a green safety vest just in case anybody that he's already trained happens to be driving nearby and it might be just a little harder for them to hit him.
Well I'm glad you are having a good experience, but I'm telling you, wil did try and tricked some trainess, not fair,. Hope you kick ass .see you out there,. PS . Wait till you get your Tor-mentor.. and Alex, sorry dude, that ego is way too big for you,. Not cool dude, you were way too cold .... Doesn't have to be that way..
And after all that we might as well give it a in chassis rebuild what a heap of junk if im going to spend weeks or months in a truck it would want to be respectable looking.
Meh. Can't have the best trucks for academy students to look over for pretrip, those trucks need to be on the road. This truck has literally one purpose: letting students get in it and walk around it to learn pretrip and air brake system check. Nothing else.

Really? Lol! You made me laugh
Not cracked, amber in color haha. That's the shit dmv wants to hear though
... Not broken, loose, or missing.
😂😂😂
I'm happy nothing was broken, loose or missing.
I've watched this video over and over till, I could pass that test. Went to Fontana swift school and Alex was the trainer, pass that test with flying colors. Been driving otr over 5 years now, Thanks Alex
Me too,
Passing this stuff felt good mission accomplished
If yer doing a pre trip it helps to have the lights turned on

Thanks to Alex, replaying the video with ear phones on REALLY HELPED A Lot!! I passed my Pre trip and air break test with flying colors! Thank you Alex for the video!!!
Damn Right, Always check your fuel tank gas cap, Very important. You don't want gas leaking from your fuel tank.
16:36 those are just rods or bars according to google. The "ties" in the cdl manual at the appropriate section are referring to any cord type material as seen in the included list "straps, chains, and binders are

Well he’s got the cdl book down that’s for sure
When I first saw this I thought man this is a lot to remember but now that I been saying the same stuff for about a month I can see where he missed some stuff. He called the mud flap a splash guard. And it really doesn’t take so long to do. I test tomorrow and I’m READY!!!
That was awesome, i wish I could presented the same way. Good job. Cowboy.
Don't forget to check the self lubricating muffler bearings
Ok watch whole video when do I get my CDL? is it in the mail?
School i went to did 1 pre trip demo for us and we were expected to do ourselves after that .
On going thru that. I'm studying really hard.
Watched this video so much I got sick of Alex.. learned it though!!
Why don’t they just use a checklist, like we do with airplanes?
WONDER HOW MANY OF THESE STUDENTS STILL WORK FOR SWIFT.
Great video Alex
Lol a chicano goodbuddy. What if theres a rookie with 3 month exp training a rookie with 0 exp while on the road? Is that a good idea?
1:19 Front bumper is NOT properly mounted and secure.
Make sure nothing is broken, lose or missing...thats all i got out of it. It is tho a good video to look back at just incase u forget shit
what if trailer is missing?
ALSO-Inspect that Oklahoma plate on a company based outa Phoenix Arizona?
Truck had Indiana plates, trailer had Oklahoma plates. Take notes. Apple is a California company and makes their phones in China. In addition they do payroll out of Reno, Nevada. Same as Tesla. Swift/knight are the largest ground logistics company because they make smart investment decisions not emotional ones.
4:57 Those are the upper and lower control arms which attach to a single knuckle, right?
Make sure you keep plenty of gloves in the truck for marking your spot for backing up as seen in another Swift video
I got a negative point for not making sure the steps on the fuel tank could hold my own body weight
Michael Bleckler lose some weight 🤣
Al Babiuc it's not a joke. I got gigged on that with my pretrip
Dang, maybe you should have studied the pretrip for whatever company that you went with, this is good for Swift, although he forgot to mention one or two details, but I already knew to mention those so I was fine.

17:10 those are two different lights with different functions that should be listed separately. Inner two are stop outer are turn/4-way.
Are you the hard ass working at DMV haha
great video
PARE!!! Thanks for all the info..
great video Alex

I would never memorize all this....no way...that's the reason I still have my CDL-A permit since may 20th
Slack adjust no more than an Inch
Between 1-2needs adjusting And 2 or more out of service...
this needs to be known by new students too.
Thank you Alex
Where is this training school located?
Bruh completely missed the brake drums, brake pads and brake chamber
T J I thought I was 😜 crazy.. I posted my comment then I saw this! 🙌🏼🙌🏼yay for checking it all!! High five I’d ride by you any day!!
Um.... 5:40. Did y'all just space out?
Make sure yr not drinking while watching this video. I took a shot er time he said broken lose or missing
5:53 Should be when brakes are fully disengaged.
Now that you are sure the truck is safe, we know for sure the accident is your fault. Now I need To go feed my horse.
He didn't specify whether the truck had a properly charged and full fire exstinguisher, 3 red reflective triangles and/or flags, and spare fuses.
John Smith that’s in cabin pre trip
@@amroualkady1 Yes, you're correct
Damn good video haha see you tomorrow in class homie!
JoeJoe theTrucker did u make it through
@@TheBIGKNOC yes still at it to.
I was waiting for him to list brake fluid as a leak👄
Trucks have air brakes. Lots of errors. That wasn't one of them.
All of that just to be told you will pass anyway, unless you get into an accident
Will this work in California
He’s talking too fast don’t let to the students thing like this don’t learns
israel velazquez I’m dumb as hell, and I can comprehend what he is says. If you can’t but my dumbass can, you got problems.
1:04 you forgot unbalanced cargo.
plastic part mean lol you go swift
I get where I've heard that voice before, the lollipop guild.
at some point he states 75% dot tape on the sides. It is 50%.
85% on sides, 100 % on back dot bumper.
0:44 You forgot transmission oil.
gas cap ????
Not much different in procedural checks compared to airline pilots inspecting the airplane before flight.
