Tegus are invasive there, aren't they? Isn't making a law against keeping them like closing the barn door after the horse is gone? I mean, there are red-eared sliders in every pond I've seen here in CA. They're invasive as hell, but you can still buy them in pet stores. Also, I'd like to point out that when people let their cats roam, they're the worst invasive species of all, but they're considered cuter than reptiles, so they get a pass. I'm not saying I hate cats, but they aren't grouped with other invasive species and maybe they should be. That's not a popular thing to say, I bet. I've been thinking about getting a Birman or ragdoll kitty, but if I can't let the cat exercise outside in some fashion, that might not be fair. If I had property, I'd build some runs. I think a leash is the only option where I live. I just don't think it's right to let a tiny lion loose in this ecosystem, even if "everyone else does it."

Just to see the behavioral adaptations and changes that would occur alongside the resident anole populations. How interesting, since there would be more than enough data where there’s already yrs of adaptations and behavioral changes that’s been occurring throughout FL. Way more invasive species occur via research releases, facility escapees and the occasional breeders, than individual owners. It’s the same thing w the Capybara in the region: escapees from a facility. Making sure to point that out while still available, in case they want to redact and blame a bunch of owners later on. It’s a whole mess of pick and choose w diff animals.

Seeing the stepstools in your recent facility update video, it made me, a wheelchair user, think about how to make the taller enclosures viewable for wheelchair users too. I think there are a few options that would be fairly easy to implement, like a "stepstool" but is a ramp up to a small platform wheelchair users could roll on in order to view those top enclosures.

My parents own a living room table with a similar pattern. They used to breed parrots and many of those often rubbed their beaks on the table. We always had thought they like sliding their beaks over the smooth polished surface. Now watching your Tegu behave exactly the same way I think those animals are confused because it looks like loose dirt but it is a smooth surface. Especially the parrots which eat dirt (to neutralize toxins in their natural diet) did that a lot.

My blue tongue skink absolutely loves tripe (cow stomach). That might also be worth trying out. You can buy it frozen for dogs. I defrost it, make it into cubes and freeze again to have skink sized portions.

i have a Blue Tegu and he doesn't like veggies either. to get him to eat everything i started buying "Reptilinks", if you haven't heard of them they're like a sausage for reptiles. they come in a variety of different things. i buy 25% veggie/berry and 75% meats (mega blend) and other kind i get is an omnivore sausage that's 50% veggie/berry 25% rabbit and 25% insect. "Reptilinks" are pretty expensive but gave me the idea to make my mash mix into inks as well.i buy the collagen casings (smaller breakfast size) and put it all into the meat grinder/ sausage maker. he can easily eat bigger links but found if he doesn't just down them whole and tears them open he won't eat what oozes out.. i feed him reptilinks every other feeding, reptilinks are whole ground prey. having their food in link form just makes feedings and storage much easier/cleaner.
My theory is that the lizardo liked the whole egg more only cause it’s easier to recognize it as an egg since they’re common in its wild diet. That’s just a theory though, A GAME THEORY!!!!

A possible solution to the vegetables issue (not sure if someone else has already mentioned this): Lizard likes eggs and balls of meat, hates vegetables. Make a small flat patty of meat, wrap it around a portion of vegetables, make it into a vegetable-stuffed meat ball. Sneaky, perhaps, but possibly effective in getting those vegetables into the lizard.
Here in Argentina they're called "Lagartos Overos" which loosely translates to "egg eating lizard"... So I'm betting on raw whole eggs and any kind of meat Edit: fun fact, blueberries are grown in some parts of their native range
I think the second stage of the video would’ve been more fair if it was chicken versus snail instead of the chicken versus an egg. I say this because both of them are more aromatic than eggs or blueberries. Also, I think in the last round (chicken versus snail), Ally was more inclined to eat chicken because she didn’t have any that day.

My theory is that the lizardo liked the whole egg more only cause it’s easier to recognize it as an egg since they’re common in its wild diet. That’s just a theory though, A GAME THEORY!!!!

Well, because videos will almost always take multiple days. Multiple weeks if you include all the time from idea to upload.

A possible solution to the vegetables issue (not sure if someone else has already mentioned this):
Lizard likes eggs and balls of meat, hates vegetables. Make a small flat patty of meat, wrap it around a portion of vegetables, make it into a vegetable-stuffed meat ball. Sneaky, perhaps, but possibly effective in getting those vegetables into the lizard.
Vegetables first to assure she eats them.
Tegu = toddler confirmed.
And even then, rejected!

I think the second stage of the video would’ve been more fair if it was chicken versus snail instead of the chicken versus an egg. I say this because both of them are more aromatic than eggs or blueberries. Also, I think in the last round (chicken versus snail), Ally was more inclined to eat chicken because she didn’t have any that day.
