Origami Hexagonal Gift Box Tutorial - 1 Sheet DIY - Paper Kawaii

- Learn how to make a hexagonal origami box from 1 sheet of paper, no glue required. These pretty origami gift boxes can have either a hexagon or star shape on the top.
These origami boxes use a well known twisting method in order to collapse, this one is based on an envelope that I created 4 years ago ( • Origami Hexagonal Enve... )...I was always hoping to combine this pattern with a twist box.
A 5, 7 & 8 sided version is also possible. I think I will only make a tutorial for the 7 & 8 sided one. 8 sided one will be posted next.
I really like the shape of the star on top but you can also leave it as a hexagon, or create other variations, I have one here that looks like petals.
In order to create a sturdier box (if using thinner paper or something), at 6:00 you could fold up in thirds, so that when you slot the two ends together, the rim of the lid is sturdier. The same thing can be done with the lower box. If using thick paper or card, it's not necessary in my opinion anyway.

Paper used: 21 x 29.7 cm (A4)
Final model size: 8.5 x 8.5 x 4.5 cm
As mentioned in the video, you can make the height of the box and lid whatever you like by folding or trimming the paper to your needs.
If you are using really thick paper or card, the length of the paper should be a tiny bit shorter. You can simply fold a tiny bit over before measuring 7ths at the start.

for bottom reduce the paper width by 1 cm so the top lid will fit easily
Very cool box. The lid is a bit hard to get on but that’s only because I used some thicker paper and didn’t cut off a bit of the length for the bottom half since I just used the rest of the paper that I had from the lid. It is very sturdy and very pretty though

How do you make the folds at the beginning parallel? Which point goes where? Somebody help me please. And anybody who reads this, have a nice day, God will be with you!
At each of those intersecting perpendicular lines, fold it so that the end of one of the vertical lines touches the next vertical line.
This very nearly drove me mad! But I persisted and it turned out well. I think you need to get the folding absolutely precise or it won’t collapse properly.
I’m just using A4 printer paper to practice with.

At 10:05 when starting the lower box, use a full A4 sheet :)

La hice, el único problema es que la tapa y el contenedor quedan del mismo tamaño y al cerrar la caja, un lado queda un poco metido hacia adentro, quizás sea por el papel que use, o es que debería usar una medida un poco menor para el contenedor.
